Amazon announces Prime Day sale on July 26-27 in India

“Daily consumables are shaping up to be one of our largest categories... Though, the average sale price od a product is low, it has been anticipated by the analysts, that the category will be useful as it will help Amazon India boost repeat purchase and loyalty among regular online shoppers, whom the company is targeting through its Prime subscription service launched in July. 
 
"Amazon will look to acquire the top 50-60 million of existing online customers who are spending very frequently online through services like Prime, which will be the first leg of their strategy," <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Satish+Meena&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Satish Meena</a>, an analyst at <keyword id="151787" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Forrester-Research">Forrester Research</keyword> told ET. 
 
In volumetric terms, the company’s fast moving consumer goods business has grown by about 200% year-on-year, by the end of August. "Amazon.in has witnessed strong growth in the category from tier-II and tier-III cities, with nearly 50% of the orders coming from outside the top eight cities," a spokeswoman for Amazon India told ET. 
 
Pantry' product were introduced in Hyderabad this week by Amazon. The customers can select grocery and household essentials to be packed into boxes of up to 15 kg for home delivery the next day, with a shipping charge of Rs 20. Though, it is currently free for Amazon Prime subscribers. 
 "We see a very high degree of repeat usage and very big basket sizes that customers are shopping for," <keyword id="781" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Agarwal">Agarwal</keyword> added.

BankBazaar raises Rs 375 crore of funding via Amazon

"I was totally surprised," Daniel, who accepted the offer immediately, told ET. "We end up hiring few of our most regular customers. They already know our brand and what we are trying to accomplish, and turn out to be great hires for us," Dazo cofounder <keyword id="2918406" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Monica-Rastogi">Monica Rastogi</keyword> told the financial daily. Amazon promises $20 billion in exports from India by 2025

After a virtual conversation with Amit Agarwal, Global Senior Vice President of Amazon and Country Head for India and Chetan Krishnaswamy, Vice President, Public Policy of <keyword id="6354743" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amazon-India">Amazon India</keyword> on Wednesday, the Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad took to Twitter and the homegrown social media platform Koo, to make the announcement. "Held a very good conversation with @AmitAgarwal and @Chetankrishna of @amazonIN today. Delighted to share that soon Amazon will commence manufacturing of electronics products like FireTV stick in India," Prasad said. Further, Amazon also has announced its plans to begin manufacturing Amazon Devices in India. In a blogpost, the company said that it will commence its manufacturing efforts with contract manufacturer Cloud Network Technology, a subsidiary of Foxconn in Chennai and start production later this year. As per the blog, the device manufacturing programme will be able to produce hundreds of thousands of Fire TV Stick devices every year. Amazon will continuously evaluate scaling capacity to additional marketplaces or cities depending on the domestic demand, it added. The minister during his conservation with the Amazon India executives also asked them to help in taking products made by India's artisans and Ayurvedic products to global markets through e-commerce. "@amazon is a global company but Amazon India must evolve as a truly Indian company deeply connected with Indian business community and culture," Prasad tweeted. Another tweet by the minister also said that the Ministry of IT is setting up several digital villages and Amazon India can pick up a few villages in India and develop them as fully digital villages. Amazon should also work with small local shops and make them a stakeholder in the larger efforts of Amazon to grow its business, he added. Agarwal said that Amazon is committed to partner with the Indian government to advance the vision of an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'. "Amazon is committed to partner with the Indian government to advance the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. We have pledged to invest US $1 billion to digitize 10 million small and medium businesses, help Indian businesses sell worldwide thereby enabling US $10B in cumulative exports, and create an additional 1MM jobs by 2025," he said.
