 According to the intelligence inputs, Pakistan-backed terrorists are reportedly planning to target the ongoing Amarnath Yatra,<a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/amarnath-yatra-pilgrims-asked-to-return-from-jammu-and-kashmir-amid-security-threat-2079392"> reported</a> NDTV. The Amarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave, a shrine for the Hindu God Shiva, in the mountains of south Kashmir in the months of July and August. As of 30 July, <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/over-3-lakh-perform-amarnath-yatra-29-days-1575125-2019-07-30">Over 320, 000 pilgrims have performed</a> the annual Amarnath yatra. New Delhi, Union Home Minister <keyword id="6355521" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="amit-shah" source="Orion">Amit Shah</keyword> on Sunday took stock of the situation in the wake of incessant rains as he spoke to the chief ministers of Punjab and <keyword id="6358126" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="himachal-pradesh" source="Orion">Himachal Pradesh</keyword>, and the lieutenant governors of Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir, sources said. The home minister assured them all central help in tackling the arising situation. The sources said Shah spoke to the chief ministers of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh and took updates about losses due to the rains. In view of the <keyword id="6385438" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="heavy-rains" source="Orion">heavy rains</keyword> in the national capital, the home minister also spoke to Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena and took updates. Torrential rains pounded several parts of north India on Sunday with 15 people killed in landslides and other rain-related incidents, while most rivers, including the Yamuna in Delhi, were in spate. In cities and towns across the region, many roads and residential areas were submerged in knee-deep water with the civic system unable to hold on in the face of record rains. Flash floods washed away roads in hilly areas, leaving people marooned, while authorities asked tourists to plan their visit after the weather improves. Heavy downpour warnings have been issued for certain areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh, while in Delhi, which recorded its highest rainfall in a single day in July since 1982, authorities have cautioned over rising water level of the Yamuna. In three sperate incidents of landslides in Himachal Pradesh, where a red alert of extremely heavy rains has been issued for seven districts, five people were killed. The Amarnath pilgrimage resumed on Sunday from Panjtarni and Sheshnag base camps after remaining suspended for three days due to inclement weather in Kashmir, officials said. In the last four days, more than 238 companies of paramilitary forces have also been pressed into service in the Kashmir Valley. The C-17 heavy lift aircraft has also been seen making frequent trips and it is normally used to transport troops from one part of the country to another. IAF planes flying over the valley were a part of ‘normal activity’ according to source who spoke to <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/defence/home-ministry-clarifies-about-troop-deployment-in-j-k/articleshow/70492779.cms">TOI</a>. Summer vacations have been preponed and educational institutions have been shut down for 10 days starting August 1. When questioned, the Union Home Ministry told <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/troop-deployment-in-kashmir-based-on-security-needs-says-government-2079301" data-type="tilCustomLink">NDTV</a> that the deployment of troops was based on the security situation in the state and requirements of rotation, adding that that such things are not discussed in the public domain.

The state's governor Satya Pal Malik requested citizens to not believe any news that comes their way, adding that fake news in Kashmir snowballs quickly. “Lot of rumours spread here. Don’t pay heed to this. Everything is normal. Everything is fine,” Malik <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/jk-governor-rejects-speculation-on-article-35-a-says-its-fake-news/articleshow/70458937.cms">had said on Tuesday </a>on the sidelines of an event. The state rumours The worst of such rumours is one claiming that the state will scrap Article 35A, which gives the state of <keyword id="23412" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jammu-Kashmir">Jammu &amp; Kashmir</keyword> special status. Another rumour says that the state will deploy troops to control law &amp; order once the order is passed. Yet another fake news says that Article 35A has been scrapped, that Jammu is a separate state. And also that Kashmir and Ladakh have turned as union territories. The governor has <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/jk-governor-rejects-speculation-on-article-35-a-says-its-fake-news/articleshow/70458937.cms">denied these rumours</a> saying that there are no plans to scrap Article 35A. He added that there was no such order came from the government. Meanwhile, ANI reported that the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Baseer Ahmed Khan has said, “No schools in the district have been closed. I appeal to people to not believe any rumours. People should contact their concerned deputy commissioners for reliable information.” Fake orders too? After the clarification from the governor, former Chief Minister of J&amp;K Omar Abdullah took to Twitter to express his concern on the necessity to crackdown on fake orders that are circulating in the state. “This is a very serious matter raised by the Governor. Fake orders were circulated under the signature of senior government officers. This is not something that can be dismissed with a simple sound byte. The CBI must be asked to investigate these fake orders and their origin,” Abdullah said.
