 While the social media is going gaga over his birthday party that happened at his farmhouse, the happily single <keyword id="6355601" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Khan">Khan</keyword> is seen posing with celebrities and family member. The actor, of late, is known for his charity donations and has been making headlines on the same. His charity foundation, <keyword id="148126" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Being-Human">Being Human</keyword>, has got recognition worldwide. 
 
To believe a report on <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/hindi/bollywood/news/Salman-Khan-spends-only-10-of-his-income/articleshow/28678824.cms">The Times of India</a>, <keyword id="6354701" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Salman">Salman</keyword> Khan spends just 10% of his total income for himself while the rest of it he donates to charities. Salman’s father, <keyword id="31016" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Salim-Khan">Salim Khan</keyword> is also known as a person who hardly spends on himself. And it’s learnt that son Salman got this habit from his father. 
 
Since the beginning of his career, Salim Khan had fixed 10% of Salman’s income to be spent for personal need. A part of the balance 90% was used for charity. Now that Salman has his own NGO, Being Human, the rest of his income is spent on the same. 
 His sister <keyword id="2053" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alvira">Alvira</keyword> has often said that Salman had never signed a cheque till 48 years of his age. Even though he started enjoying signing cheques, a few months later Salman wanted an attorney to sign cheques on behalf as he finds it boring to deal on money matters. 
Salman still doesn’t know how much money he actually has in his account. He maintains a low profile of himself and spends meagrely on his personal need. 
 
Now you must be wondering, how come an actor of that stature is able to use just 10% of his income on him and spend rest on charity? Salman Khan earns Rs 60 crore annually. So spending Rs 6 crore on personal requirement every year isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

To which Salman said, “I was not driving the car.” This, even as he kept gesturing to his sisters <keyword id="2053" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Alvira">Alvira</keyword> and Arpita to not breakdown and cry in court. 
 
Everything now boils down to how many years will he have to serve in prison. The biggest and the most serious charge that he has been found guilty of is under Section 304(2) of the IPC, which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder that carries with it a maximum jail term of 10 years. 
 
While the sentencing is awaited today, Salman’s defence have been pleading for a lenient jail term of 2 years with a hefty fine/compensation for the affected peoples’ families. The pleas that the superstar’s counsel is making are primarily on two grounds. First, that this incident was mainly an aberration to the ‘human’ personality that Salman Khan is. The counsel have been pleading to the Judge to consider the ‘humanitarian’ work that Salman has been doing which has been bringing about such positive changes to several lives. This despite, Salman giving strict instructions to his counsel not to publicize or use his humanitarian work as a reason for lowering his jail term. The defense told the court, "Don't punish him more just because he is an actor. Enhance the fine but don't punish him beyond 3 years." 
 The second and more important plea being made pertains again to two very high profile hit and run cases similar to this one. The first being the 1998 <keyword id="45587" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sanjeev-Nanda">Sanjeev Nanda</keyword> <keyword id="6355119" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="BMW">BMW</keyword> case where Nanda ran over and killed six people including 3 police officers in Delhi and the second one being the <keyword id="574170" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Alistair-Pereira">Alistair Pereira</keyword> case in Mumbai, where the latter mowed down and killed 7 people on the pavement. In both cases the <keyword id="6354977" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Supreme-Court">Supreme Court</keyword> handed out jail terms of 2 and 3 years respectively, despite the accused being under the influence of alcohol and behind the wheels when the incidents occurred. The counsel has argued that in both the above cases 6-7 people were killed with no signs of any compensation to the affected people's families, while this incident involves the death of only one person and a compensation pacjkage of Rs 19 lakh that has already been paid by Salman to the concerned people. 
 The prosecution, in the meanwhile, has pleaded with the judge to hand out the most stringent punishment, not taking his social work into consideration. The court has even ordered for perjury charges to be filed against Salman's <keyword id="6366401" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Driver">driver</keyword>, <keyword id="167070" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ashok-Singh">Ashok Singh</keyword>.

Mumbai, Apr 16 () Bollywood actor Salman Khan used his star power to express anguish and disappointment at people flouting lockdown rules and pelting stones at healthcare workers as the country grapples with the coronavirus pandemic.The "Bharat" star, who is currently at his Panvel farmhouse, urged everyone to abide by the guidelines laid down by the government to contain the spread of the deadly virus and praise the efforts by all those working on the frontlines.Channelling his "Bigg Boss" host persona, Salman began the 10 minute-long video talking about his life under lockdown."'Bigg Boss' is not starting, this is life's 'Bigg Boss' going on. There are some people who are violating (the lockdown). I had come here for a two-day holiday but corona has sent everyone on a 'holiday'," he said in the Instagram video shared on Wednesday."First we thought it was just a flu. It will all get over in a few days and everyone will be back home. But when lockdown happened, it became all serious," he said.He is currently at his farmhouse with his mother Salma, sisters Alvira Agnihotri and Arpita Khan Sharma, brother-in-law, actor Aayush Sharma, nephew Ahil and few friends.Sharing an incident about the callous behaviour by one of his friends, who had gone out to get vegetables from a nearby village, Salman said, "Police are there all around and they are doing a good job. He (friend) had the pass. When the police stopped him on the street, he took off the mask to speak with the policemen, who in turn told him to put it back."He understood he shouldn't have done it. He came back and narrated this story to us. When he got back home, I told him that taking off the mask was a stupidity," the actor added.The intention behind narrating this story, the 54-year-old star said, was to make people aware about how they are putting their families and everyone else at risk by not following the lockdown rules."In any disease to get the result positive is a very sad thing, especially for a disease that has no cure and such a person losing hope is not good. And to not understand the sadness of those who have tested positive is anti-human."The positive tested patients have understood that it is their mistake and those who are negative at the moment are not taking things seriously will soon turn positive as well. And they will then spread the disease to the family, to the locality, to the city and then to the entire India," Salman said.The actor said the government has asked everyone to stay at home and not do social gatherings and rather spend time with family."Do your prayers at home. We had learnt in our childhood that God resides within us. Everyone has to die someday, but do you want to actually die? Do you want to put the country at risk, starting with your own family?"And you have to think whether you want to support the police, doctors and those working in the banks or not."He further said if everyone would have followed the guidelines properly, the lockdown would have been lifted."If you wouldn't have gone out in groups or with friends, then police wouldn't have hit you. They don't enjoy it. No one has stopped you from going to buy essentials, but wear masks and gloves. The government has assured that all the essential items will be available," the actor asserted.Hailing the efforts of the frontliners such as the healthcare workers and police force, Salman said, "Do you think doctors, nurses, policemen, those working in banks are immune to coronavirus? They are still working 18 hours and are doing this for you, not to stop you, but to stop coronavirus because the disease does not see class, economic standing or age. Police is doing their duty, but you are not doing your duty to stay at home.""You are throwing stones at doctors, nurses who are saving your life," he said in a reference to incidents of doctors and health workers being attacked across the country."And those who are coronavirus positive are running away from the hospitals. Where are you running? Towards life or death? 	The actor himself drove about an hour to court from Karjat Studio where he was filming his next movie Sultan. Salman's father Salim Khan was photographed leaving Galaxy Apartments earlier. Salman's sister Alvira and faithful bodyguard Shera were also in court.When the High Court pronounced its verdict at about 1.40pm, just his pregnant sister Arpita was present in the house. 
 

	By afternoon, a small crowd of fans (who converged here from far distant places) had joined the banks of media cameras and crews amid high police presence. 
	 
	Even as of now, the crowd milling about on the road outside Galaxy Apartments is still relatively small but is steadily swelling. Salman, who will be 50 later this month, will likely come home to a rapturous welcome today. The actor's neighbours can also expect a traffic jam on the street.
