Although it did not divulge the size of the deal, market watchers say that at BT's valuation of roughly USD 15 billion dollars, the deal could be in the ballpark of USD 4 billion. <br /><br /> The shares will be purchased through Bharti Televentures UK, which is wholly-owned by Bharti Global. <br /><br /> Bharti Televentures UK has inked an agreement with Altice UK to acquire about 9.99 per cent stake of BT Group's issued capital imminently with the rest about 14.51 per cent of BT's share capital is to be acquired post regulatory clearances. <br /><br /> Telecom billionaire Patrick Drahi's Altice UK, the largest shareholder in BT, has been struggling with high debt. <br /><br /> "Bharti Global, the international investment arm of Bharti Enterprises, a leading Indian business group with world-class companies in telecoms, digital infrastructure and space communications, has reached an agreement to acquire an interest in 24.5 per cent of the issued share capital of BT Group plc from Altice UK," Bharti said in a release. <br /><br /> Bharti hopes the investment will further help create new synergies in the telecom sector between India and UK in the areas of AI and <keyword id="19916120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="5G" source="keywords">5G</keyword> R&amp;D and core engineering among others, "offering great potential to collaborate on industry best practices and emerging technologies". <br /><br /> It is pertinent to mention here that Bharti and BT have a relationship going back more than two decades. <br /><br /> In 1997, BT acquired a 21 per cent stake in Bharti Airtel, and hence Bharti's latest move to acquire a 24.5 per cent chunk in the iconic British company marks a defining moment for the Indian telecom conglomerate. <br /><br /> Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises said: "Bharti and British Telecom (BT) have an enduring relationship going back more than two decades wherein BT owned 21 per cent stake along with two board seats in Bharti Airtel Limited from 1997-2001. <ul><li><strong>US banks <keyword id="44660" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="JPMorgan">JPMorgan</keyword> and <keyword id="6361649" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Goldman-Sachs">Goldman Sachs</keyword> were the leading financial advisers on acquisition <keyword id="6391790" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="deals">deals</keyword> in the first half of 2020, according to the latest survey from GlobalData.</strong></li><li><strong>The banking titans secured the top spots on the basis of the value and volume of the deals they advised on. </strong></li><li><strong>"Both banks were involved in some big-ticket deals, however, involvement in two megadeals (&gt;$10 billion) mainly helped JP Morgan top the list by value," one analyst said.</strong></li><li><strong>JPMorgan delivered a solid second-quarter performance thanks to surging trading revenue. Goldman Sachs lowered its previously stated profit by 91% after taking a nearly $4 billion hit from the 1MDB scandal. </strong></li><li><strong><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/?hprecirc-bullet">Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories</a>.</strong></li></ul><p>JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs were the leading financial advisers on mergers and acquisitions in the US in the first six months of the year, according to data compiled by analytics firm <a href="https://www.globaldata.com/jp-morgan-and-goldman-sachs-were-top-financial-advisers-by-value-and-volume-in-the-us-in-h1-2020-says-globaldata/">GlobalData</a>. </p><p>The two banks secured those top spots based on the value and volume of the deals they advised on. </p><p>Having advised on 57 deals worth about $95 billion, JPMorgan was the highest of all advisers based on deal value.</p><p>In terms of volume, Goldman Sachs advised on 68 deals worth about $74 billion during the first half of the year.</p><p>"Goldman Sachs, despite leading by volume, lost the top position by value to JP Morgan. The company's investment-banking revenue surged 91% and <keyword id="31671" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="markets">markets</keyword> revenue rose 79%.</p><p>In a <a href="https://www.jpmorgan.com/global/research/covid-19-esg-investing?source=cib_pr_cc_esginvestinga0620">report</a> released last month, the bank said COVID-19 could prove to be a "major turning point" for sustainable investing, as more investors consider a company's environmental, social, and governance factors, apart from basic metrics such as a strong balance sheet and cash flow.</p><p>At first, Goldman Sachs also <a href="https://africa.businessinsider.com/markets/goldman-sachs-2nd-quarter-earnings-beat-estimates-as-trading-desks-drive-revenue/z70hv7r">posted a strong quarter</a> on growing trading volumes because of heightened market volatility at the time. Here are 10 things you need to know before markets open.</p><p><strong style="line-height: 1.5em;">BlackRock CEO Larry Fink says China needs to do more to avoid a bust. </strong><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The chief executive of BlackRock, the world's largest money manager, said on Tuesday that China will need to continue to reform its capital markets to avert what he called boom and bust scenarios. </span><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-china-needs-more-reform-to-avert-boom-bust-market-scenarios-blackrock-2015-4#ixzz3Xv44KD8C">"It is our strong belief that China needs more robust capital markets," CEO Larry Fink said at a Credit Suisse conference in Singapore</a><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">.</span></p><p><strong>The Bank of England wants to know if Warren Buffett is too big to fail. </strong><a href="http://uk.businessinsider.com/ft-bank-of-england-asking-about-berkshire-hathaway-2015-4#ixzz3Xv4QB9ex">According to a report from The Financial Times, the Bank of England has asked the US Treasury why Berkshire Hathaway's reinsurance operations were left off a list of "too big to fail" institutions</a>. Berkshire's reinsurance operations include Berkshire Hathaway Reinsurance and General Re.  </p><p><strong>The US and Japan are within "grabbing distance" of a massive trade deal. </strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/afp-us-japan-in-grabbing-distance-of-pact-on-asia-trade-deal-2015-4">The United States and Japan are within "grabbing distance" of resolving their differences on a much-awaited massive Pacific free-trade pact</a>, assistant secretary of state Danny Russel said Monday.</p><p><strong>The ZEW survey of German confidence is coming. </strong>Investors' economic sentiment has been improving in Germany since November, and it's expected to be bullish again in April, but the figures haven't yet returned to highs seen in the middle of last year. That's out at 10 a.m. London time (5 a.m. New York) and analysts are expecting a score of 56.</p><p><strong>Rio Tinto's iron ore output was disappointing. </strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/afp-rio-tinto-iron-ore-output-slows-but-still-rising-as-prices-plunge-2015-4#ixzz3Xv5HrDBp">Anglo-Australian mining giant Rio Tinto recorded lower-than-expected iron ore output for the first three months of the year blaming poor weather conditions</a>, but continued to boost its production of the commodity despite plunging prices. Ore production was 74.7 million tonnes in January to March, a 12% increase from the same period in 2014, but a six% drop from the previous quarter. </p><p><strong>France's Altice won the right to acquire Portugal Telecom. </strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/afp-altice-wins-eu-greenlight-on-portugal-telecom-buy-up-2015-4#ixzz3Xv5f21NN">France's Altice cable and telecoms firm on Monday said it had won European Commission approval for its 7.4-billion-euro ($7.9 billion) purchase of Portugal Telecom's Portuguese assets</a>.  </p><p><strong>Asian markets are rallying. </strong>After a 2% fall on Monday, Hong Kong's Hang Seng is back up 2.03%, while the Shanghai Composite Index is back up 0.83%. Japan's Nikkei also climbed, rising 1.22%.</p><p><span><strong>GE is reportedly in $74 billion (£49.70 billion) talks to sell its lending unit. </strong>General Electric, refocusing on its industrial roots, is in talks to sell its $74 billion commercial lending unit to Wells Fargo, the fourth-largest US bank, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday.</span><span><br /></span></p><p><strong>IBM revenues are still sliding. </strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-ibm-revenue-slides-about-12-percent-2015-4#ixzz3Xv6lRkYL">International Business Machines reported an about 12% fall in first-quarter revenue as the technology company continues to shed unprofitable businesses to focus on cloud-computing initiatives</a>. Net income fell slightly to $2.33 billion (£1.56 billion), or $2.35 per share, for the quarter ended March 31, from $2.38 billion, or $2.29 per share a year earlier.</p><p><strong>A Senator wants to lift the US crude export ban. </strong><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-senator-to-introduce-bill-to-lift-crude-export-ban-2015-4">Senator Lisa Murkowski (an Alaska Republican) said on Monday she will introduce legislation this year to allow US crude exports</a>. Let's get you straight to the good stuff.</p><ul><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/people-are-quitting-ad-industry-and-agencies-struggle-to-hire-2021-7">Ad industry's labor shortage</a></li><li>Adtech's deal flurry</li><li>TikTok on its Euro 2020 sponsorship</li></ul><h3>Leaving on a jet plane</h3><p><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/people-are-quitting-ad-industry-and-agencies-struggle-to-hire-2021-7"></a></p><p>Much like their fellow executives in <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/restaurant-prices-labor-shortage-worker-wages-food-2021-6">hospitality</a>, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/investment-banks-labor-shortage-analysts-hiring-deals-goldman-jpmorgan-2021-6">banking</a>, and the <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/06/20/business/american-airlines-flights-canceled-labor-shortages/index.html">airline sector</a>, ad-agency bosses are grappling with labor shortages.</p><p>As my colleagues Lindsay Rittenhouse and Patrick Coffee reported, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/people-are-quitting-ad-industry-and-agencies-struggle-to-hire-2021-7">ad-agency workers are abandoning ship in droves</a>, with many citing burnout or a desire for more flexible working.</p><p>The return to the office is now likely to serve as another pressure point - and for some, close proximity to certain coworkers or clients presents a grim prospect.</p><p>Earlier this week, Zoe Scaman, the founder of the London-based strategy studio Bodacious, lit a fire under Adland with her <a href="https://zoescaman.substack.com/p/mad-men-furious-women">essay "Mad Men. Furious Women,"</a> which put the industry on blast for not doing enough to stamp out misogyny and harassment.</p><p>Indeed, <a href="https://www.campaignlive.co.uk/article/lets-stamp-sexual-harassment-adland-office-working-returns/1721395">a 2020 survey from the UK ad-industry nonprofit TimeTo</a>, found that 49% of agency staffers polled were concerned sexual harassment would be a bigger issue once back in the office, with some fearing a release of untoward "pent up" feelings.</p><p>All in all, not a great advertisement for agencies desperately trying to recruit new talent - and just as the workload from clients has begun to rebound.</p><p>Cindy Gallop, the entrepreneur, consultant, and former ad exec, told me there were some practical steps agency leaders should be taking to address these issues and prevent more workers from tapping out of advertising altogether:</p><ol><li>Fire every white male sexual harasser and sexist bully currently in power.</li><li>Promote women into those leadership roles instead.</li><li>Stand back and let women lead, design, and manage the future of the industry.</li></ol><p>"I guarantee those steps will not only stop people leaving the industry, but, when the industry is led, designed, and managed by women - i.e., the primary advertising target - have talent flooding into advertising instead," Gallop said.</p><p><strong>Related reading:</strong> Ad Age's Jeanine Poggi takes an in-depth look at how ad agencies are <a href="https://adage.com/measuring-ad-agencies-diversity-promises-commitment-george-floyd/2347111">living up to the diversity promises they made last summer</a> - and where they're falling short.</p><h3><strong>Merger, she wrote</strong></h3><p>In a stark reversal to the past few <a href="https://digiday.com/media/nuclear-winter-ad-tech-enters-vulture-capital-era/">wilderness years</a>, you're now the exception to the rule if you're an adtech company of a certain vintage that isn't public or filing to go public. The latest to join the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/why-ad-tech-stocks-soaring-ipo-returning">ever-bulging adtech IPO list</a> is the Altice-owned video-ad specialist Teads, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/altices-ad-tech-company-teads-plans-to-file-for-ipo-11625604384">which filed on Tuesday</a>.</p><p>Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/adtech-company-openx-explores-possible-sale-2021-5">adtech M&amp;A is going gangbusters</a>.</p><p>"Just about <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/brands-acquiring-tech-firms-to-keep-up-with-ecommerce-and-ad-changes">every adtech company is in play</a>, and if not, they should be," Nick MacShane, the senior managing director at Progress Partners, told me. (Which is exactly what I'd be saying if I were an adtech banker, too.)</p><p><a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/digital-ad-opportunities-and-capital-spur-investor-interest-in-ad-tech-11625220000">The Wall Street Journal's Alexandra Bruell reported last week on why adtech had come back in vogue</a>. The tl;dr version: Digital ad spending is up, public adtech company valuations are higher, interest rates are low, and there's a growing appetite for adtech in new areas like streaming TV and e-commerce.</p><p>(I'd also throw in another reason some companies are looking for a quick exit, from the JEGI Clarity managing director Hugh Boston: "In the States, certainly for some types of businesses that are founder-owned, there's a concern that capital gains tax could go up, effective next year.")</p><p>What does it all mean for advertisers? Probably a bunch of new vendor names and logos to learn for one (<a href="https://jamesnames.com/2021/07/after-acquiring-mountain-com-mntn-also-acquires-mntn-com/">MNTN</a>, anyone?) But also, hopefully, it means more of those vendors will have the money and scale required to throw resources at some of the industry's biggest challenges - particularly around data privacy. At least before the founders cash out and sail into the sunset on an <a href="https://digiday.com/marketing/cannes-briefing-battle-ad-tech-yachts/">adtech flotilla</a>, that is. <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>HBO</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><ul><li><strong>The <keyword id="6354777" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Media">media</keyword> industry is suddenly mulling a flurry of huge deals.</strong></li><li><strong>Cord-cutting, streaming and shifting consumer and advertiser preferences have upended the power structure as former giants scramble for relevance long term. </strong></li><li><strong>The stakes are as high as it gets - who controls content, distribution, <keyword id="35666" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="advertising">advertising</keyword> and connections with consumers.</strong></li></ul><p><br />If you spend any time on <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/stock/TWTR-Quote">Twitter</a> and follow any media industry people, you'll often come away dizzy, and fairly certain that every media company is buying everyone.</p><p>It started a year ago when <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/stock/T-Quote">AT&amp;T</a> announced it had reached an agreement to buy <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/stock/TWX-Quote">Time Warner</a>. Then things really turned upside down when 21st Century Fox <span>- </span>just three years after trying to buy Time Warner <span>-</span> signaled it wanted to sell some assets to <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/stock/dis-Quote?utm_source=markets&amp;utm_medium=ingest">Disney</a>. </p><p>Then on Thursday, it was <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/21st-century-fox-disney-comcast-verizon-possible-bidding-war-2017-11-1008444743">reported that Comcast might buy some of Fox</a>. Or <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/stock/vz-Quote?utm_source=markets&amp;utm_medium=ingest">Verizon</a> might. And of course, President Trump might not allow AT&amp;T to buy Time Warner. The FCC is <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/fcc-passes-media-ownership-regulations-rules-2017-11">potentially loosening media ownership</a> rules. <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-fcc-plans-to-vote-to-overturn-us-net-neutrality-rules-in-december-sources-2017-11">Net Neutrality</a> might go away. </p><p><span>Confused yet</span><span>? </span></p><h2><strong>When did media become Game of Thrones? </strong></h2><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>HBOGO</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p>Media used be an industry that was primarily about content, distribution and advertising. Now, the emergence of deep-pocketed tech giants has changed everything. People are streaming, ditching cable, avoiding live TV, watching shows on mobile, etc. </p><p><span>"The one take away is that the media industry is facing real pressure," said Rich Greenfield, BTIG media and tech analyst. "You've got cord cutting, ads moving to mobile, etc. None of these companies has been prepared for that."</span></p><p>So all these media machinations are about power and control. These giants want to make as much money as possible, position themselves for the future and prevent rivals from getting into their territory.</p><p><span>"What we've noticed is w</span><span>here</span><span> there's big change there's often a lot of M&amp;A," said Terry Kawaja founder and CEO of M&amp;A advisory firm Luma Partners. "In this case, it's motivated by fear, not greed."</span></p><h2><strong>What gives you the most power in the future?</strong></h2><p>"In the pre-web video era, it was all the same for decades. Content was king, distribution was queen," said Toby Chapman, associate partner at strategy consulting firm OC&amp;C. "Then, suddenly people are talking about, is content king any more? In a platform world, is it the relationship with consumer? Or is it the pipes?"</p><p>Those questions get at the heart of why everyone in media seems to be rethinking who their friends and enemies are.</p><ul><li><strong>Is content still king?</strong> Does the company with the best shows and movies (like Disney) have the most power? </li><li><strong>Is distribution where the true power lies? </strong>Does the company with cable boxes or broadband pipes in people's homes (like say Comcast) rule?</li><li><strong>Is having a direct relationship with the consumer the winning strategy?</strong> <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/stock/AMZN-Quote">Amazon</a> is one of America's favorite brands, and <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/stock/NFLX-Quote">Netflix</a> is a favorite with millennials.</li><li><strong>Or is it all about the browser or the interface? </strong>Maybe delivery mechanisms don't matter, as long as you own the browser (like <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/stock/GOOGL-Quote">Google</a>) or the interface (like <a href="http://markets.businessinsider.com/stock/FB-Quote">Facebook</a>).</li><li><strong>Or do you need to have everything?</strong></li></ul><p>"No matter how big you are, tech and user behavior throws it all off," said Elgin Thompson, managing director at Digital Capital Advisors. "Unless you are the full ecosystem, you're not an emperor. These companies want to be so big they can create their own weather."</p><p>It seems that suddenly, Fox has many suitors interested in some of its assets (it's not selling Fox network, Fox News or Fox Sports.) Why?</p><p><strong><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Walt Disney Animation Studios</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></strong></p><h2><strong>The rise of Netflix</strong></h2><p>You may recall, Disney is planning taking on Netflix with its own streaming service, and it may want to own as much content as possible, so Fox's Studio could be a big help.</p><p>Disney already owns Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar. Theoretically, if it gets Fox's content and other TV companies start starving Netflix of their shows, Netflix would have fewer people signing on to binge "Breaking Bad" and would have to live and die on its own shows.</p><p>"A lot of people would look at them and say, they've stood alone in that space," said Chapman. "But they may suddenly have very credible competitors. And you've also got so many channels who've never been good friends with Netflix." </p><p>Netflix, of course, plans to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/16/business/media/netflix-earnings.html">spend $8 billion on content next year</a>. So don't count them out of anything.</p><h2>The Verizon playbook</h2><p>Meanwhile, Verizon is eyeing a deal with Fox, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/comcast-approached-21st-century-fox-over-acquisition-interest-1510869129">according to the Wall Street Journal</a>. What is it doing?</p><p>Like AT&amp;T, all of the wireless giants need to get into new revenue streams, since pretty much everyone in the US who wants a cell phone has one and they keep switching to get better deals.</p><p>Verizon has acquired AOL and Yahoo in recent years to challenge Facebook and Google, which remains a brutal task. Meanwhile, it has a very limited footprint in TV, other than Verizon Fios. This gets them in the TV game, theoretically.</p><h2>What about Comcast?</h2><p>What about Comcast? Many see this cable company as being in great shape, given that it has such a complete set of assets: NBCUniversal (TV networks, and a studio) and the largest pay TV service in the US. Buying some of Fox could help strengthen them against competitors. One very appealing asset: Sky, which is sort of like Comcast or DirecTV in the UK.</p><p>Yet Greenfield believes Comcast may have to sell NBCU if it wants to make any more big moves, given the Trump administration's objections to the AT&amp;T/Time Warner deal. </p><h2><strong>Isn't everyone cutting the cord? </strong></h2><p>Millions of people still have cable. There's a lot of money to be rung out of that business over the next few years - and maybe even some untapped potential.</p><p>For example, Comcast theoretically knows what you watch and what you do on the web. They could tie that together with data for advertisers and programmers, for example.</p><p>And don't forget that even if you cut the cable cord, you're likely to keep the broadband one. Cable TV companies are essentially broadband companies. And that business isn't going away quickly. The company that delivers broadband to your home could always charge cord cutters more. And if <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/net-neutralityfor-dummies-and-how-it-effects-you-2014-1">Net Neutrality</a> goes away, they could also charge some companies like Netflix a toll to reach consumers. </p><p>A big limit to cable companies' power is that<strong> </strong>are inherently regional. You can't get Comcast in New York, for example. No one's been able to roll up all these cable companies into a national play. At least not yet.</p><p><strong><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>HBO</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></strong>Still, these companies have the most to lose in an 'over the top' TV future.  As Kawaja explained it, a company like CBS is happy to deliver its network to new distributors like Sling TV or YouTube TV. Even if people cut the cord for skinny bundles or they just pay for CBS All Access to get the new "Star Trek," CBS makes money.</p><p>But recently earnings for Comcast and DirecTV showed both losing subscribers faster. "Now everyone is saying, oh shit, it's on," Kawaja said. "Cord-cutting is suddenly not a college graduate thing. It's accelerating faster. And the distribution people have the most urgency to move. An OTT world messes with their bundle first and foremost."</p><h2><strong>Who else should we think about?</strong></h2><p><strong>Charter Communications:</strong> Charter Communication is<strong> </strong>another big regional pay TV provider (they are the ones who bought Time Warner Cable a few years ago). <a href="https://nypost.com/2017/11/12/charters-ceo-butts-heads-with-biggest-shareholder/">According to the New York Post</a>, Charter has considered buying the cable TV company Cox Communications or even selling itself to Softbank.</p><p>(By the way, watch Softbank in this area. They have lots of money. They're the Iron Bank in this scenario)</p><p><strong>Liberty Media:</strong> Liberty Media chairman John Malone <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/16/john-malone-there-have-been-four-different-approaches-for-charter.html">told CNBC </a>that the company has received four acquisition overtures recently.</p><p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Photo by Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images</span></p></div><p></p></div></div>Malone is a legendary media industry investor who's worth billions. As the <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/video/2016/11/10/liberty-media-chairman-john-malone-exclusive-full-interview.html">chairman of Liberty Media</a> could make a big move at any moment. Liberty Media has stakes in SiriusXM, Formula One Racing and the Atlanta Braves. Malone also has a big stake in Discovery Communications. </p><p><strong>Altice</strong>: What's an Altice again? Ad tech nerds know them as the company that bought the web video company Teads last year. They acquired Cablevision a few years ago. Now, <a href="http://variety.com/2017/film/global/altice-stock-plummets-forcing-change-in-strategy-top-management-1202616408/">the stock is tanking</a>, and they could be looking for a savior.</p><p><strong>Viacom and Discover/Scripps: </strong>These cable programmers used to be among the power players in the TV industry. Now they're suddenly vulnerable. Do they need to find buyers? Greenfield argues that Viacom needs to reunite with CBS (they two companies split a decade ago) "yesterday."</p><p>What about selling to someone like Google or Facebook, both of whom want to get into premium content in a big way (and TV advertising). Greenfield says no way. "Tech companies can build, they don't need to buy. Nothing has changed my thinking on that."</p><p>A good example is Amazon inking a deal to make an original series centered on "Lord of the Rings." You don't have to own a studio or network to do content, if you can spend a lot of money.</p><p><strong>Amazon: </strong>It's coming for every industry, so it seems. The billionaire media mogul Malone earlier this week called them "The Death Star," <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/16/john-malone-says-amazon-is-a-death-star-moving-in-striking-range-of-every-industry-on-the-planet.html">reported CNBC</a>. Though in this case, The White Walkers might be a better analogy, since few know what Amazon really wants to do.</p><h2><strong>What's Next?</strong></h2><p>Dave Morgan, CEO of the data-centric TV ad company Simulmedia, sees a flurry of activity.</p><p>"Charter could combine with Discovery/Scripps," he said. "Or they could do a deal with Sprint or T-Mobile, since they each will need a scaled partner. Comcast will talk to one or both of those wireless company. As will Dish."</p><p>Morgan also predicted that Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and Google could become sudden buyers. In particular, he predicts Netflix could buy a studio to hedge against Disney. "But with Trump, none of this matters.
