 They don’t just call themselves an online restaurant. The company which currently serves <keyword id="6181" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Food">food</keyword> in Delhi NCR had expanded to Bengaluru but shut down that vertical under a year.

 <keyword id="499896" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alok-Jain">Alok Jain</keyword>, CEO, and Founder, Yumist told Business Insider, “The thought process was to make one city profitable and then expand from there to Bengaluru or Mumbai. We expect to be profitable by end of this year.’’ 
 Food-<keyword id="6355447" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="delivery">delivery</keyword> could be a marketplace or a brand. What worked for Yumist that they make their own food and deep technology integration to reduce costs not just in delivery but also in production.

To sell food at INR 100, you need to get innovative. From making their own large oven at just INR 60000 compared to imported ovens at lakhs to creating a supply chain that has reduced costs, they’ve cut corners and how. 
 
The company thinks that their differentiating factor is the kitchen, which helps them make affordable, hygienic and quality controlled food in large batches. 
 
Another quirky factor is that 20% of the Yumist audience sees a personalized menu which is changing the game for them. 
Personalized Subscription based model is also something Yumist is looking into, offering meals on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis. 
 
It just boils to one thing in one hour; the algorithm and machine learning work for them as one delivery boy does up to 20 orders a day which requires extensive planning.

 As they keep scaling up, their delivery costs have reduced significantly and <keyword id="19142" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="alok">Alok</keyword> thinks that it will go lower than INR 30 per order. 
 
He says that they plan to find more find more ways to reduce costs by maybe changing the mode of transportation from rickshaws to an electric bike.

Termed unicorns — or companies valued upwards of a billion dollars — Flipkart, Snapdeal and Ola have all witnessed exits of senior managers in recent months. 
 The latest exit was of <keyword id="843670" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Ravi-Vora">Ravi Vora</keyword>, the head of strategic initiatives at Flipkart, who quit this week. Others to have quit the country's largest <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=online+retailer+">online retailer</a> include engineering head <keyword id="6518849" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Sameer-Nigam">Sameer Nigam</keyword>, who left in July. 
 Chief Technology Officer <keyword id="1937803" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Amod-Malviya">Amod Malviya</keyword> transited to an advisory role in July. In February, Delhi-based Snapdeal saw its then CTO <keyword id="2049459" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Amitabh-Misra">Amitabh Misra</keyword> leave to start his own firm. 
 
Restaurant listing guide <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Zomato+">Zomato</a> has seen the exits of marketing heads <keyword id="499896" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Alok-Jain">Alok Jain</keyword>, and subsequently <keyword id="584823" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Rameet-Arora">Rameet Arora</keyword>, who quit within 10 months. Jain has started an ondemand food venture Yumist. 
 The Gurgaon-based company's chief product officer <keyword id="3019927" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Namita-Arora">Namita Arora</keyword> left within a year of joining the firm.

Seniors being relegated: Experts tasked with finding fresh talent for these high-growth startups say several exits stem from seniors being relegated when hierarchies alter. "Shrinking interactions with the founders coupled with decreased influence on impactful decisions are two most frequently cited reasons for individuals to move out of startups," Harish Kumar, founder of headhunting firm Wenger &amp; Watson, told ET. 
 
Volatile work environment, long working hours, and high levels of stress are also wearing out several senior executives at startups. "The culture of having beds for technology teams in offices can backfire and hurt emotional health," said a senior technology executive who quit a Delhi-based startup. 
 
Bid to lock in talent: Dissatisfaction with compensation is also leading to exits in several cases. Startups typically offer employee stock options aimed at locking in talent from a year to four years. Often, employees can cash in about a quarter of their holding after a year. "After that, shares can be redeemed on a pro rata basis every month or quarter, depending on the contract," said Seetharaman. 
 
However, this is only at an ideal startup. At several others, founders allow only a tenth of promised stock to be sold at the end of a year, with vesting periods rising incrementally to 40% at the end of four years. "There can be additional harsh lock-ins, which make the packages unfair," said the Delhi-based founder of an executive search firm who works with companies such as Flipkart, Zomato and Snapdeal. 
 
Senior employees are realising that they too have a chance of making big returns from India's unprecedented startup boom where the top Internet companies have between themselves soaked up some $6 bn of funding so far.

Well, they are shifting kitchens for technologically enriched ones. Food-tech companies like Yumist, ChefSutra, Cook Gourmet, Petoo, and <keyword id="2874548" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bueno-Foods">Bueno Foods</keyword> have in renowned and upcoming chefs from leading hospitality brands to head kitchen operations and curate menus, informs a news report by The Economic Times. 
 
What did the chefs gain? Of course, creative freedom. Besides, they get to build their own kitchen teams and develop menu items based on individual expertise. 
 As per the news report by the ET, Rohan Arora cofounded Gurgaon based Bueno Foods, which offers seven types of international cuisine, withVipul Arora(unrelatedto Rohan) and <keyword id="357931" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Puneet-Jain">Puneet Jain</keyword>, who came with 20 years of experience between them, from top brands including Olive Bar and Kitchen, Intercontinental in Delhi, TheOberoi and McDonalds. 
 "We are not outsourcing or subcontracting core aspects of our business, which is food," Rohan Arora, founder and <keyword id="5645" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="CEO">CEO</keyword> of <keyword id="2874549" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="BuenoFoods">BuenoFoods</keyword> told the financial daily."WhenVipul came on board we had 80% of our menu ready and he changed nearly everything." On a cash basis, <keyword id="2762082" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vipul-Arora">Vipul Arora</keyword> and Puneet Jain get 40-50% lower compensation than the industry average, but the duo has been offered a stake in the company and the two run the entire show at the back-end from kitchen and supply-chain operations including sourcing ingredients. 
 
They were responsible for trialling 2,500 dishes that was narrowed down to 30 items for the company's deliverymenuand400 for its catering and bulk ordering menu, based on demand, customer feed back and operational efficiencies of items that would survive delivery transits. 
 
"I didn't want to work for someone else anymore and I wanted to do things myself. I have freedom here. Money was not a constraint, for me my passion is more important," said Vipul Arora. 
 Similarly, Amit Tyagi, who joined Yumist in March this year, doubled the food-tech company's menu from 20 and continues to add two-three dishes every week. For Tyagi, who has 10 years of experience across Taj Delhi, Pind Balluchi and <keyword id="115321" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Michelin">Michelin</keyword> Star restaurants in <keyword id="6354968" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="London">London</keyword>, the challenge of curating quality daily food under strict cost controls was an attractive proposition. "I don't want a monotonous role for myself," said Tyagi, who also built up a kitchen team of 12. His zeal is reflected on social media, evident in an upswing of people raving about the quality and variety of food ever since the company got Tyagi on board, <keyword id="499896" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alok-Jain">Alok Jain</keyword>, <keyword id="2874713" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="founderand-CEO">founderand CEO</keyword> of Yumist told the ET.
