One of the first major steps taken by <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/no-surprises-here-hindu-hardliner-up-cm-yogi-adityanath-clears-20-acres-of-land-for-ramayana-museum/articleshow/57752201.cms">Yogi Adityanath</a> after he took over as Chief Minister of <keyword id="6357713" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uttar-Pradesh">Uttar Pradesh</keyword> was to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/slaughter-houses-closed-cow-smuggling-banned-yogi-adityanath-is-keeping-up-bjp-promises-and-how/articleshow/57772806.cms">ban all the "illegal" slaughterhouses</a>. This essentially shut down almost all such abattoirs, leading to meat going off from UP residents’ menus. 
 <keyword id="44216" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aligarh-Muslim-University">Aligarh Muslim University</keyword> (AMU) hostels too were forced to serve the students a <keyword id="4358878" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="pure-vegetarian-menu">pure vegetarian menu</keyword>, which became difficult to digest, since they were being served meat every day in their hostel mess earlier.

Fed up of this sudden change, students of AMU have written to the Zameer Uddin Shah, the vice-chancellor of the university, seeking his intervention.

 The issue also caught the attention of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader <keyword id="189230" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Asaduddin-Owaisi">Asaduddin Owaisi</keyword>, who tweeted, "15000 students in Aligarh Muslim University have not been served meat (buffalo) since 26 March and BJP says we are not targeting?" 
 
In response to the letter, the management has said that the hostels require over 500 kg meat (buffalo) every day for their 19 dining halls, and the management is unable to arrange this quantity because of lack of operational slaughterhouses in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Aligarh-movie-on-AMU-professor-Dr-Siras/articleshow/50816657.cms">Aligarh</a>. 
 
To this, Kalika Singh, regional officer of UP Pollution Control Board, said, "Of the seven slaughterhouses in Aligarh, four are operational at present. But due to non-availability of animals, they, too, are not providing any meat."

AMU students seek vice chancellor’s intervention in ‘pure vegetarian’ menu

The leading digital payments unicorn has now set its sights on the education sector. It will offer services across payments, commerce, financial and academia to students, parents and government job aspirants. Paytm wants a piece of the ₹100,000 crore education sector pie. And believes that it can gain Gross Merchandise Volume of ₹20,000 crore in 2019-20, from education alone. The digital payments company is not just offering services for payments but many more to help students. “Right from providing details on 25,000 colleges, schools, courses and exams, our bouquet of services will include – payments (in-app and in educational centres), commerce (coaching, scholarships, test preparation, admission forms etc.) and financial services (student insurance, educational loans, easy EMI, and banking),” said Vineet Kaul, Senior Vice President - Paytm. To enable this, the company has partnered with Railway Recruitment Board, Maharashtra Public Service Commission, National Testing Agency, Indian Navy, Amity, VIT, Manipal, AKTU, Army Public Schools, Delhi Public Schools, Delhi University, IITs, IIMs, NITs, Aligarh Muslim University, AIMA, ICAI, Narayana Group, Career Launcher, Made Easy, Career360 and several others. Paytm already offers options to schools and colleges to accept fees via Paytm app. It is now hoping to bring onboard 350 million more users from 20,000 private schools, 1,000 higher educational institutes and 1,000 coaching institutes. The Indian education sector is expected to reach a size of $5.7 billion by 2020. The sector is also brimming with startups like the unicorn Byju’s, Unacademy and more. They have been raking in users, business in addition to attracting investors.

 Kashmiri students have boycotted a lunch invite from the central government to express their protest, according to IANS. Nonetheless, the government is trying to ensure that people have round the clock access to basic amenities, like electricity and water, with staff on standby in case there’s a breakdown. Students protest Nearly 250 students at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have stated that they will not be attending the festivities organised at the university’s guest house. Other students in the Kashmir Valley have also stated that they will be staying away from any kind of festivities on campus. Jammu and Kashmir governor, Satya Pal Malik, recently sanctioned ₹1 lakh to organise Eid festivities in the valley. But according to the students at AMU, the money is given to buy their consent. "We take this as an opportunity to reject Delhi's authoritarianism and drama played in Parliament on August 5," they said in a statement. Restrictions and Section 144 The Jammu and Kashmir administration had eased the prohibitory orders in Kashmir Valley for the past few days for people to make purchases for Eid. And, while there have been no reports of violence on Sunday, Section 144 has been reinstated in certain areas. Even in Srinagar, restrictions were reinstated on Sunday afternoon.
