According to the actor, who has been credited for character roles in many Hindi films, he was asked to be available in December to shoot for the movie but never received a follow-up call. The actor, in a post on X, said he didn't want to stir up controversy but thought it was time to speak up. "Back in 2023, I was approached by their casting team to audition for a role. I sent my tapes twice over the span of four months, playing along with their timeline. By the end of November, they told me I'd be shooting in December - fantastic, right? Except they never gave me any firm shoot dates. "Still, they booked me for the entire month of December, expecting that I'd be ready to shoot for them at any moment. As someone based in Imphal, Manipur, I made it very clear from the start that travel arrangements would need to be made, but that didn't seem to matter," Thaangjam recalled. The actor said he was kept in the dark throughout the month except for a brief message that they were waiting for a "revert". "Meanwhile, I'd lost out on other projects because I was sitting around, waiting for them to give me the go-ahead. But, of course, that never came," the actor said. As an actor from Northeast, Thaangjam said the experience felt "particularly dismissive, almost discriminatory". "My time was wasted and I missed out on other opportunities just because they expected I'd be available at a moment's notice," he wrote. "Jigra" has faced a number of controversies, including the negativity surrounding Bhatt's casting in the movie and actor Divya Khosla Kumar's comments that the film, a jailbreak drama, resembled the plot line of her last film "Savi".

Despite the lukewarm start, Adarsh noted that the Dussehra holiday might help boost the film’s performance over the weekend. “Jigra opens to lower-than-expected numbers, with a significant contribution from urban centres dominating Day 1. The response from mass pockets is ordinary/lukewarm… The Dussehra holiday should help offset the initial shortfall,” Adarsh wrote. The film also faced stiff competition at the box office, clashing with Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, which stars Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri. Rao’s film outperformed Jigra, collecting Rs 5.71 crore on its opening day. Jigra marks one of Alia Bhatt’s lowest opening weekends since her 2014 film Highway, despite her star power. The film revolves around a sister’s perilous journey to save her brother, with a recreated version of the classic song “Phoolon Ka Taaro Ka” featured in the teaser. The leading retailer would ultimately acquire the company, which specialises in providing sustainable clothing options for kids at affordable rates. Talks between Reliance Brands and the kidswear retailer, which mainly sells online are in the final stages, the industry source said. According to a media report, the deal is estimated to be around Rs 300 crore. The deal would help strengthen Reliance Brands' play into the branded kidswear segment, which is rapidly growing in the country. Ed-a-Mamma brand is owned by Eternalia Creative and Merchandising, in which Alia Bhatt is a director. The company was incorporated in 2019. An e-mail sent to Reliance Brands remained unanswered by the time of filing of the story. Established in 2007, Reliance Brands has collaborated with of over 50 international brands and operates over 2,000 stores in India. Amit Goyal, MD India at Sotheby’s International Realty believes that this indicates that real estate has made a meaningful comeback to ultra high-networth individuals’ portfolios. “With wealth creation in India growing at a fast pace, and the country’s wealthiest city Mumbai set to enter the list of top 20 cities with the most number of millionaires by 2023, we believe there’s an inherent strength in Mumbai’s luxury housing market which should continue in the future,” said Goyal. Size does matter Sales of homes that cost around ₹10-20 crore made up for around 71% of sales in the luxury segment, but there has been good traction in homes that cost ₹40-70 crore too, as per the report. Nine homes that cost over ₹70 crore were sold in the first half of the year, while 10 such sold in all of 2022, the report says. In the world of luxe, the size of homes is also growing, as per the report. Most of the luxury homes sold were in the 1,000-2,000 square feet range while the preference for 4,000-8,000 square feet homes tripled in the first half of 2023 as compared to the same period in 2018. “The Richie Rich is now eyeing larger homes than ever before with a clear preference for ocean views, higher floors and amenities galore,” says Abhishek Kiran Gupta, co-founder &amp; CEO, CRE Matrix &amp; IndexTap.
