The movie starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif will be released on March 24, while the official trailer was released yesterday (March 2).  A four-minute trailer of the Rohit Shetty film in association with Karan Johar’s Dharma Production opens up with Ajay Devgn narrating the terrorist attacks that happened in Mumbai, starting from 1993 serial blast to Mumbai 26/11 attack. Akshay Kumar, the lead in the trailer is seen as <keyword id="8193880" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="veer-sooryavanshi">Veer Sooryavanshi</keyword>, who is protecting Mumbai from the attacks – the main plot of the movie. Ajay Devgn in his narration calls Veer Sooryavanshi, a ‘yodha’, who is a part of Mumbai’s Anti-Terrorism Squad and has been assigned a job to stop the attackers from terrorising Mumbai. Kumar is shown as a super cop – tackling rogues around the city while also managing to spend time with his family. Kaif is seen playing as the wife of the super cop in the short trailer. Sooryavanshi is the fourth movie in the ‘cop’ series from action director Rohit Shetty. In 2018, Ranveer Singh played the role of a police officer in Simmba, which also starred Sara Ali Khan. Bollywood movies like Bhuj: The Pride of India, Sheershah, Toofan and Mimi, which could have been big successes on the big screen, had to be released on Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms. However, the cinema industry has a lot to rejoice for Akshay Kumar’s Bell Bottom is all set to hit the theatres tomorrow across 1,500-1800 screens. Before COVID, a big-ticket Bollywood movie was released at least across 4,000 screens in India. According to Elara Capital, Bell Bottom’s collection assumptions are on the lower side -- almost 65%-70% lower than earlier films of Akshay Kumar which reported a lifetime Box Office of Rs 180-200 crore. This is primarily due to night curfew in most states, Maharashtra not being open for movies yet, low consumer sentiment and 50% occupancy cap. As per the trends in other markets, Elara Capital further revealed that the audience is now comfortable going to cinemas for good content. Regional films (Punjabi and Telugu) have opened up to full house with a 50% occupancy cap in the first weekend and has seen healthy occupancy numbers on weekdays too. This trend indicates signs of Box Office coming back to 50% of pre-COVID collection on an overall basis in near term. “We believe this is a very promising sign as these numbers are only post 2-3 weeks of cinema opening in India post second wave and despite multiple restrictions. Hollywood content has not fared well primarily due to Maharashtra’s curfew on cinema, as the latter contributes almost 35%-40% of Box Office for English content,” said Karan Taurani, Senior VP - Research Analyst, Elara Capital. <div type="image" title="elara capital revenue" msid="85425507" hostid="261"></div> “We maintain our view that over the next six to nine months, larger films across genres will release and collections for these too will breach towards 60% of pre-COVID primarily helped by 1) larger portion of population (middle and upper middle class) being vaccinated with two doses and 2) relaxation on restrictions (night curfew), 3) uptick in festive season towards Diwali/Christmas and 4) more screens being allowed to open; this is in line with our view that India will surpass global Box Office trends as globally Box Office has breached towards mere 40%-45% of pre COVID collections, despite 90% of the screens being open since last six months,” added Taurani. Elara Capital’s report on Media and Entertainment industry further predicts that the overall revenue may to revert to 80% of pre-COVID (FY20) in FY23, with a recovery in FY24, which may see revenue moving toward 110-120% vs pre-COVID (FY20). “We expect ad revenue to take the longest to recover due to high exposure to local advertising whereas other revenue metrics (F&amp;B &amp; convenience fee) will follow footfall recovery trends. Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 4 beats bad reviews to make ₹80 crore in 4 days

Akshay Kumar's Samrat Prithviraj declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh

The <keyword id="103144" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Karni-Sena">Karni Sena</keyword>, which protested against Bollywood film "Padmaavat" over historic facts last year, has now asked the producers of "Prithviraj", an upcoming movie featuring Akshay Kumar, not to tamper with such facts. Members of the outfit, led by its national president Mahipal Singh Makrana, staged a stir at the shooting of the film in Jamwaramgarh village, near here, on Saturday and asked the director, Chandra Prakash, to stop the shooting. Prakash assured them that there was no tampering with historic facts in the film's script. However, the Karni Sena demanded a written assurance. Akshay Kumar was not shooting when the Karni Sena members staged the protest on Saturday. "We held discussions with the director, Chandra Prakash, regarding the film's script today. We told him that no tampering with historic facts will be tolerated," Makrana said on Monday. "Prithviraj Chauhan should not be portrayed as a lover in the film. The director has assured us that there is no such thing in the movie but we want a written assurance," he said. One of Bollywood's biggest stars will be in a film about 'India's menstrual man,' who invented a pad-making machine

‘Rustom’, which is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, is based on a real-life story of K.M Nanavati vs Maharashtra. 
 
The story of Nanavati is quite thrilling and interesting on how the Naval officer killed his wife’s lover Prem Ahuja and got away with it. The story dates back to 1959, which gained international prominence too. 
 
The movie ‘Rustom’ is going to be an interesting watch as the trailers also look promising. The music of the movie is already a hit and both, Akshay and Ileana look straight from a classic novel. 
 
It is also worth mentioning that this is not the first time a Bollywood movie is being made on this story. Vinod Khanna-starrer 'Achanak' was also made on the same subject and was a box office hit.
