This time around Nokia is focusing on the true blue social media users with an <keyword id="6355645" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="android">Android</keyword> powered smartphone that sports ZEISS optics camera and has an advanced aluminium unibody. First time around, Nokia ruled the mobile phone market for years in India. But it’s not going to be that simple for Nokia to reach the top spot this time around. While its old competitions like <keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword> are still very strong in the market, it’s the new competition, slew of Chinese smartphone brands that have launched in the country over the last few years are likely to give Nokia a tough fight.However, the Nokia 8 does come packed with some key features that are clearly designed for the Netizens of today. Firstly it’s a pure Android powered Nokia phone, Nokia is introducing a Dual-Sight video that can be livestreamed natively and in real-time to social feeds such as Facebook and <keyword id="10879" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="YouTube">YouTube</keyword>. It means one can simultaneously harnesses both the front and rear cameras in a split screen visual for both photos and videos. Nokia has also up the Audio feature of the Nokia 8 by featuring Nokia OZO Audio, it can apparently give a 360° immersive audio experience.And unlike the super sturdy phones from Nokia’s earlier set of phones, Nokia 8 has certainly put time and effort to up the design aspect of their phone. Nokia 8 comes in a sleek unibody design with 4.6mm thin at the edge and just 7.3mm slim on average, Nokia says that it has been refined through a 40-stage process of machining, anodizing and polishing. And the models that feature a high-gloss mirror finish has taken over 20 hours to complete to achieve a flawless look, says Nokia. The phone features Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835 Mobile Platform for the first time.<keyword id="2460472" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="ajey-mehta">Ajey Mehta</keyword>, Vice President - India, HMD Global, said, “Millennials, today, are always exploring new ways to create and share content. It's these creative content creators who inspired us to craft a smartphone with them in mind.”The Nokia 8 will be available in India starting October 14, 2017 for Rs. 36,999. It comes in four colours – Polished Blue, Tempered Blue and Steel. It will also come in a Polished Copper soon after the launch. While it seems clear how Nokia is trying to get in the hands of the millennials as it has certainly worked on the features that has driven the smartphone market here in India but it is still going to be tough task for Nokia to compete with the existing competition. With the kind of price tag Nokia will be pitted against the likes of Chinese smartphone brand Oneplus and Korean giant Samsung among others.

Nokia 8 comes to India to compete with contemporaries both new and old

<keyword id="2460472" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ajey-Mehta">Ajey Mehta</keyword>, head of <keyword id="28250" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Microsoft-India">Microsoft India</keyword>'s mobile division, will be moving to HMD Global along with 60-70 sales and marketing staff. HMD Global is the company recently created by Microsoft to bring back Nokia-branded phones into global markets, including India. 
 As per sources, the switch would be done after Microsoft's deal to sell its feature phone business to <keyword id="6354671" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Foxconn">Foxconn</keyword> and HMD closes in the second half of this year. The deal, however, doesn’t include Nokia's phone manufacturing plant based in Chennai, because it was frozen by tax authorities due to an ongoing Rs 20,000-crore tax dispute. 
 
While initially the team led by Mehta will be responsible for taking the Nokia-brand feature phones forward in India, they would later add Android smartphones to their portfolio; however, no timeline has yet been announced by the company regarding the same.

Microsoft India mobile business head to move to HMD Global with his sales team

Few days ago, we informed you that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Apple-just-surpassed-Microsoft-in-global-mobile-phone-shipments/articleshow/48535679.cms">Apple surpassed Microsoft</a> last quarter to become the second-largest mobile phone vendor in the world. Then we brought to you news that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Barely-anybody-is-using-Microsofts-new-browser/articleshow/48776081.cms">barely anyone is using Microsoft’s Edge browser</a>, released alongside <keyword id="6354717" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Windows">Windows</keyword> 10; it is seeing surprisingly little usage when compared to Chrome and Firefox on the same platform. 
 These not-so-positive news about the tech giant made us wonder what the company (<keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword>) would do to gain prominence and revive its market share. While looking for answers, we came across an interesting write up on <a href="http://telecom.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/devices/enterprise-segment-is-the-biggest-growth-driver-for-microsoft-device-biz-ajey-mehta/48851245">The Economic Times</a> in which Ajey Mehta, country manager, <keyword id="3042466" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Microsoft-Mobile-Devices">Microsoft Mobile Devices</keyword> reveals how the company is betting big on Windows 10 and 4G devices. 
 
Ajey Mehta told <a href="http://telecom.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/devices/enterprise-segment-is-the-biggest-growth-driver-for-microsoft-device-biz-ajey-mehta/48851245">The Economic Times</a>, “Since February to June, we launched five smartphones. We now have plans for the 4G LTE market, as it will be the focus area for us. We will soon roll out the LTE version of <keyword id="820770" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lumia">Lumia</keyword> 640XL. All of our future 4G devices will support all types of 4G services in India.” 
 At present, the US-based company’s Lumia 638 is the only dual-band 4G smartphone. But through a software upgrade, Microsoft has now enabled seven of its smartphones with 4G capability, which support only one band of 4G - FDDLTE on 1800 MHz. Currently, <keyword id="15491" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airtel">Airtel</keyword> offers service on this band in some circles, but Vodafone India and <keyword id="6354924" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Idea-Cellular">Idea Cellular</keyword> are also expected to join the bandwagon in the coming months, the business daily added. 
 It is worth noting that Chinese Smartphone makers like <keyword id="874458" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Xiaomi">Xiaomi</keyword> and <keyword id="13722" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lenovo">Lenovo</keyword> have already gained a major share in the country’s 4G smartphone arena. 
 
Mehta also hinted that Microsoft’s new devices will hit the country’s smartphone market by Diwali. Chinese rivals such as Xiaomi and Lenovo have already cornered a major chunk of the fast growing 4G smartphone segment. 
 
Apart from focusing on 4G handsets, Mehta said that Microsoft will be launching phones running on its latest Windows 10 OS. “For us Windows 10 is the biggest initiative. We now will be launching phones running on this OS. We are optimistic that Windows 10 will bring success globally for us,” he told ET. 
 
In the second quarter, Microsoft's smartphone market share in India declined to 3.2% as against 4.1%in 2014, according to Counterpoint Research.

HMD Global launched three new smartphones in India, Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, starting at Rs 9, 499. It is advised for consumers who want a robust phone with outstanding entertainment credentials. The Nokia 6 is available in four distinct colours – Matte Black, Silver, Tempered Blue and Copper – and will be available on Amazon.in at a recommended best buy price of Rs. 14,999. Meanwhile, Nokia 5 has 5.2” IPS HD display with sculpted corning gorilla glass. The Nokia 5 is available in four colours, priced at Rs 12,899. Nokia 3, on the other hand, features a fully laminated 5” IPS display priced at Rs 9,499.
