Indonesia’s central bank, too, said it would not accept cryptocurrencies as legal tender. As much as South Asian countries may oppose cryptocurrencies, they do not oppose blockchain technology overall. In fact, the RBI had detailed plans to build its own CBDC earlier this year, while China became the first country to test a CBDC long ago. The country already has test processes for a digital Yuan running in some areas within its borders. The world being split may be a good thing though. Cryptocurrencies were considered a fringe industry as early as two years ago, the mere fact that regulators are split shows more acceptance, and could pave the way for regulations — even if they aren’t always favourable. Even as Latin America embraces Bitcoin, Southeast Asia is clamping down on cryptocurrencies

Student unions of various parties have said that all sections of society should wait for completion of the <keyword id="6356383" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="JNU">JNU</keyword> inquiry before doing the "character assassination" of the university. This, however, doesn’t mean that they support the anti-national slogans that were raised in the university campus. 
 These unions have asked for the release of JNUSU President <keyword id="3048656" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kanhaiya-Kumar">Kanhaiya Kumar</keyword> and withdrawal of "false charges" against all the university students. 
 These demands have come in a joint press conference released by leaders from All India Students' Association (<keyword id="202881" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aisa">AISA</keyword>) of CPI(ML), All India Students Federation (<keyword id="340585" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="AISF">AISF</keyword>) of CPI, National Students' Union of India (<keyword id="6372948" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="NSUI">NSUI</keyword>) of Congress, Students Federation of India (<keyword id="6373398" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="SFI">SFI</keyword>) of CPI(M) and Student Forum For Swaraj (<keyword id="951603" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="SFS">SFS</keyword>). 
 They also denounced the assault on Left activists, JNU teachers, students and media that was done on February 15 in Patiala court. These attacks were cited as <keyword id="42498" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="RSS">RSS</keyword> and BJP’s attempts to "spread a reign of terror against differing voices". 
 
"We condemn the anti-national slogans that were raised during the event but who did that is a matter of investigation. Let the inquiry takes it course. Do not character assassinate the entire university by branding it as anti-national," SFI general secretary Vikram Singh said. 
 
"If the entire University is anti-national, then its alumini including Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, CBI Director Anil Sinha and BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman are also anti-national," NSUI leader Kumar Raja said. 
 
"Slogans cannot be used as an excuse to crackdown on JNU. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of JNUSU President Kanhaiya and the immediate withdrawal of false charges on all JNU students," they said in a joint statement. 
 
The "ongoing assault on JNU is part of a long process by the Modi government to destroy our best educational institutions," the released added. "We are seeing a pattern wherein the Modi government actively intervenes to shove the RSS-BJP agenda down the throats" of the insitutions," they claimed.

At the APEC CEO Summit, a young PH scientist <keyword id="3141628" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aisa-Mijeno">Aisa Mijeno</keyword> was the showstealer even as she shared the dais with e-commerce giant <keyword id="302749" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Alibaba">Alibaba</keyword> founder <keyword id="424838" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jack-Ma">Jack Ma</keyword>, due to her splendid creation that not only had everyone in the plenary surprised but also left the US President <keyword id="15962" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Barack-Obama">Barack Obama</keyword>, who was hosting the panel, completely in awe of her. 
 
Mijeno, an engineer and Greenpeace member came up with what she named the Sustainable Alternative Lighting (SALt) lamp – an environment friendly alternative light source that runs merely on two table spoons of salt and one glass of tap water. It is made of tediously experimented and improved chemical compounds, catalysts, and metal alloys that when submerged in electrolytes result in generating electricity. This lamp can operate for eight hours at one go, and simply by replenishing the salt solution one can get another 8 hours of light. 
 
It’s consumable inside has to be replaced one in a year for which one has to spend $6. The cost of the lamp has also been priced very low at $20. The SALt project is providing lighting to a few areas without electricity with the creation of such lamps that run on saline solution. The same solution is also used to charge mobile phones, Mijeno said during the forum. 
 
“Most families living on island are not connected to power grids, so they mainly use kerosene and fuel-based lamps as the main source of lighting, and we know the danger that kerosene lamps pose—it can cause fire accidents, it emits black carbon—so that's the main reason why what we want is, we wanted to provide this people with a lighting option that is more cost-effective, that is more safe, more sustainable, and environment-friendly, by a way of a lantern that uses saline solution or ocean water as a means, a catalyst to generate electricity,” she said. 
 
“In turn it will be able to power up LED and of course power up a USB port where you can also charge low-power mobile devices like your phone, which is very essential in times of emergencies or disaster scenarios,” she added. 
 
Impressed with the innovation, Obama said, “Aisa is a perfect example of what we're seeing in a lot of countries—young entrepreneurs coming up with leapfrog technologies. But the point is, they didn't have to make some of the massive infrastructure investments. This is part of the reason why the old idea of development and environmental sustainability, I think, is outdated. It does raise the issue, though, how can both government and larger companies be assisting in creating a climate for innovation that encourages young entrepreneurs like Aisa?

We banked on young candidates like student leaders, candidates who were part of farmer struggles and working class people. That seemed to have worked. Party leaders also highlighted how cadres worked among the poor, became first responders in crisis among their constituents and led movements against unemployment, corruption in education and farm rights, to gain the trust of voters. "We have been working with the poor in the state since the 1990s, mainly with the Dalits and the EBCs. We have played the lonely vocal opposition voice in the Vidhan Sabha on the rights of the poor. Over the last five years, we have built an image which is based on goodwill and faith. Electoral victories are not just about numbers, it is about chemistry. This time things came together. "This election, wherever the RJD and CPI(ML) have come together, the Grand Alliance has done well," N Balaji, the national president of CPI(ML) students' wing All India Students Association, said. On his party's decision to go with the RJD despite being opposed to it earlier, Balaji, who campaigned extensively in Bihar, said the party (RJD) currently led by Tejashwi Yadav and the one led by his father Lalu Prasad were "two different entities". CPI(ML) leaders also pointed out that this was perhaps the first time that the youth and student leaders had actively participated and some even contested the elections. Out of the 19 candidates that the party fielded this time, six are under 35 years of age and 10 are below 50. Among the party's winning candidates, Sandeep Saurav, 33, won from Paliganj constituency after defeating the JD(U) candidate. Saurav, a former JNUSU general secretary and an AISA activist, gave up his job as an assistant professor to fight the polls. He has been challenging various Bollywood celebrities, some of whom are his closest friends, to do various dares. 
 While all of these celebrities have responded in a positive manner and posted videos doing those dares, <keyword id="106133" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ranveer-Singh">Ranveer Singh</keyword> surely took the cake.

He dressed up like Krrish, the popular superhero character donned by Hrithik in two movies, viz Krrish and Krrish 3. Dressed in his Krrish costume, wearing a mask over his face, Ranveer danced on the Main Aisa Kyun Hoon song from the movie Lakshya, in the street. After apologising to the traffic police for the nuisance he had created, Singh took off the mask and ran to his car, leaving behind a bemused public. 
 
After his impromptu jig, Ranveer tweeted the video through a newly made YouTube channel, saying
