Zee launches Zee Plex, its ‘Cinema2Home’ service

New Delhi, Dec 22 () Zee Entertainment on Sunday clarified that all its television channels in Tamil Nadu are fully operational across leading cable and DTH operators.
 No changes have been made in the consumer price (MRP) of the individual channels or channel packs whatsoever, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) said in a statement.
 "The viewers have expressed their disappointment for not being able to view their favourite ZEE Channels, despite having paid for the same. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) wishes to clarify that all of its television channels in Tamil Nadu are fully operational across leading cable and DTH operators, including Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation Ltd, SCV and V K Digital," it said.
 The channels are also available across all leading DTH operators viz. Airtel Digital TV, Tata Sky, Dish TV, d2h, and Sun Direct, it said adding there has been no change in the consumer price (MRP) of the individual channels or channel packs whatsoever.
 Zee Prime Tamil SD pack, competitively priced at Rs 10 only, is the best value pack in Tamil Nadu market, when compared to other similar bouquets available in the same market.
 ZEEL has issued all the required communications to its esteemed viewers informing and urging them to approach their respective cable operators with a request to reactivate the channels, for which they have already paid Rs 10, as part of their monthly subscription, it said.
 "This communication is purely issued in the interest of all our viewers, since ZEEL has received several complaints and requests through emails and social media platforms, wherein the consumers have mentioned that their cable operators have removed the ZEE Bouquet from their channel packs, without any communication or reason," the statement said. Zee Entertainment says all channels 'fully operational' in Tamil Nadu

TRAI recently released its new <a href="https://www.bgr.in/how-to/trai-new-rules-dth-operators-february-1-dish-tv-select-channels-base-plan-a-la-carte-free-to-air-channel-selector/">guidelines</a> regarding the broadcasting and pricing over DTH and Cable TV services. All the DTH companies including Dish TV, Tata Sky, and Airtel Digital TV have already announced the different channel packs they have got on offer. Dish TV has pre-selected its customers’ channel packages as per their old plan and has moved them automatically to the new packages. However, if you are working with other operators, you will need to select your TV channel preferences on your cable service provider platform to avail of the new tariff. As part of its momentous announcement, TRAI had issued strict guidelines to the broadcasters to streamline the selection and pricing options of the cable or DTH channels. The move is intended to let the consumers avail of the cable and DTH services at a minimal cost without having to waste money on paying for the channels they never use. The new regulations brought in by TRAI lets the customers pay only for those channels they want to watch. TRAI has released a Channel Selector App that will let the customer know the estimate of the subscription charges meant for the channels they have selected. Similar to how it works with other DTH service providers, the consumers of Dish TV can also do the channel selection in three ways. The first way is to call the Dish TV customer care. The second route is to make use of the My DishTV app to do the channel selection. The third way is to visit Dishtv.in website and choose the channels you want using your login credentials. Here is a step by step procedure to choosing the channels on DishTV on the company’s dedicated website. Step One Visit the DishTV website. Go to ‘Subscriber Corner’ that you will find on the top right corner of the website. You can also land on the Subscriber Corner by clicking on the banner ad that has notified “Register your choice as per TRAI’s new mandate.” Step Two The Subscriber Corner page will prompt you to log in. You can do this either by using your VC number or registered ten digit mobile number. Also, you can choose to give your password or log in using OTP. Step Three Once you have logged in, the account page on Dish TV’s page will show up the selection page by default arrangement. In case it does not open itself, you can open it by clicking on ‘Packs &amp; Channels’. Step Four On the ‘Packs &amp; Channels’ page you will see ‘Select Your Zone’ option that will cover the regional bouquet of channels DishTV offers. This will be based on languages of the North and South regions. Step Five After you have selected your zone, you will see the list and details of Dish Combo packs, Add-Ons, Channels, and Bouquets. Based on your preferences you can add them to your cart and checkout. In the five simple steps given above, you will have created your own unique channel package based on your viewing preferences. New Delhi, May 1 () Bharti Airtel's digital content platform Xstream has recorded a 50 per cent jump in streaming volume during the lockdown, the company said on Friday. While re-telecast of Ramayan is said to have broken records on Doordarshan, Airtel Xstream also noticed an increase in demand for retro content during the lockdown period."While overall streaming volumes have increased by 50 per cent on the app since the middle of March 2020, it is shows and movies from yesteryears that have seen the biggest surge in demand from users," Airtel said in a statement. The platform has registered an increase in the average session time and the number of daily sessions per user is also up by 40 per cent as people are spending more time inside homes."Cult TV shows like Malgudi Days, Dekh Bhai Dekh, Zabaan Sambhal Ke, Rajani and many more have witnessed 300 per cent surge in streaming volumes," the statement said. Bollywood Classics from Chaudhavin Ka Chand, Mother India, Don, Padosan, Andaz Apna Apna and Raja Babu have seen streaming volumes growth of 100 per cent underlining the strong demand of content from the decades gone by, it said.The company found that close to 80 per cent of the demand surge for retro content is driven by users from non-metros and smaller towns in states such UP, Bihar, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh which highlights the growing adoption of OTT in these markets as smartphones and 4G penetration increases."The current situation has made video entertainment an obvious and large use case. At the same time, it has given all of us more time and space to travel back in time and rekindle some fond memories as the situation also makes us emotional," Bharti Airtel chief product officer Adarsh Nair said. Airtel Xstream records 50% jump in streaming volume during lockdown

Telecom service provider <keyword id="6354287" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bharti-airtel" source="Orion">Bharti Airtel</keyword> posted quarterly revenues of Rs 31,500 crore in Q4FY22, up 22.3 per cent year on year. The sharp rise in revenues was backed by strong and consistent performance delivery across portfolios. The company's <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> business posted quarterly revenues of Rs 22,500 crore, up 22.7 per cent on year. Mobile services revenues in India were up 25.1 per cent on year, led by increase in average revenue per user (<keyword id="107848" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="arpu" source="Orion">ARPU</keyword>), largely on account of flow through of tariff increase done in late 2021. Mobile ARPU increased to Rs 178 in Q4FY22 as against Rs 145 in the same period the previous fiscal. It reported a 165 percent growth in its consolidated net profit of Rs 2,008 crore in the said quarter, as against Rs 759 crore in the year ago period. Besides, digital TV continued to amass its strong market position. Further, 4G customers rose by 21.5 million on year and 5.2 million on quarterly basis, thereby crossing 200+ million milestone which is 62 per cent of the overall customer base, Bharti <keyword id="15491" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="airtel" source="Orion">Airtel</keyword> said in filing to the exchanges. Hence we thought of provisioning some digital content on TV, so that millions of homes can access it on their existing <keyword id="388204" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="television-sets">television sets</keyword> without spending a single penny and without learning how to use a PC. What’s the pitch: BrizzTV is a ‘first screen’ company that has pioneered next-generation TV viewing. It puts all relevant social buzz alongside the TV programmes on the same screen – so that you won’t require any other <keyword id="1939016" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Companion-device">companion device</keyword>. 
 
How it works: The digi-media technology firm is catering to the B2C segment upfront and it’s just click-and-go for everyday users. However, the real business lies in exploring the B2B segment.  The market size for Twitter on TV will be the entire country, according to the founders. The start-up is also targeting a chunk of the print ad pie in India, estimated at over $4 billion, by bringing display ads directly to TV via digital platforms. In a way, that’s creating a new market – <keyword id="1939000" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Digital-ads-on-TV">digital ads on TV</keyword>. The firm has already tied up with <keyword id="279704" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Airtel-DTH">Airtel DTH</keyword> for all its products in a bid to reach millions of homes across India. 
 
Claim to fame: BrizzTV claims to be the first company to bring contextual tweets directly to a broadcast TV network and that too, in real time. It is also the first company to introduce permission advertising/freemium advertising for pay TV. But the founders believe that the real claim to fame lies in throwing open a market that would get bigger every day. “Imagine our reach with Twitter on TV – 8.5 million homes (over 30 million individuals assuming 4 per family) with just one <keyword id="1840316" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="DTH-operator">DTH operator</keyword>. And it’s on six premium channels for at least 2 hours every day. That kind of reach isn’t available even at large destination websites in India. Our reach and time with users are an unparalleled opportunity,” says Amarendra. 
 
Show me the money: Currently, its revenue model is a mix of <keyword id="1939012" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Product-subscription">product subscription</keyword> (for iExam) and advertisement earnings from Twitter on TV and Freemium Movies. BrizzTV is yet to sell ads on Twitter on TV but for Freemium Movies, it has on-boarded some big clients such as ITC, Nestle and Maruti. However, the company has not reached break-even yet and continues to burn cash on R&amp;D and technology development. 
 The start-up raised an undisclosed amount in Series A from <keyword id="226299" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Ojas-Venture-Partners">Ojas Venture Partners</keyword> back in 2011. Prior to that, it had raised a debt grant of Rs 25 lakh from <keyword id="1939005" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nadathur-S-Raghavan-Center">Nadathur S. Raghavan Center</keyword> for Entrepreneurial Learning or <keyword id="226294" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="NSRCEL">NSRCEL</keyword> (a joint set-up of IIM Bangalore and the <keyword id="6623307" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Department-of-Information-Technology">Department of Information Technology</keyword>) where it was incubated. 
 
Biggest challenge: Striking new partnerships with TV service providers. “Until we are able to do that, <keyword id="6354632" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Social-media">social media</keyword> can’t invade every home or occupy the first screen,” feels Amarendra. According to him, BrizzTV’s key competitors will be middleware companies like Cisco, Nagravision and Irdeto. The start-up also anticipates competition from destination websites and smart TV/device players as they try to grab the attention of TV viewers.

(Eds: Adding details) New Delhi, May 7 () Airtel on Thursday said it added massive capacity, well ahead of the curve, to meet growing demand of consumers during the lockdown, and sought to assure subscribers that any employee visiting customers will maintain "highest level of hygiene". Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal, in a note to customers, said that the next phase of the journey has begun as the world slowly starts to open up. "We have now been in lockdown for over 40 days and have entered a new normal. Our 45,000 strong workforce continues to be on the field to serve you and we are grateful that all of them are safe. We are now in the next phase of this journey as the world slowly starts to open up," Vittal said. He said that over the last few weeks, the company has delivered several initiatives to address user queries or concerns. This includes new capabilities of SIM delivery to homes, doorstep KYC (Know Your Customer), work from home solutions, conferencing and security services, he said, adding that the company had received support from customers on these initiatives. "Yet, we know we are not perfect and given reduced capacities at our call centers, some of you may have faced challenges. So, if there is anything else that we can help you with, please do let us know. "We have enabled several channels for you to reach us. Digitally, you can raise your queries/complaints through the Airtel website or the Airtel Thanks App. You can also drop in a request on our IVR by calling 121 from your registered mobile number," Vittal said. Terming safety as the top priority for the company, Vittal said, "Any Airtel employee that visits you, whether to solve an issue with your existing connection or for a new installation, will maintain the highest level of hygiene." In addition, the entire staff has been trained on ensuring delivery of "contactless" experience, he added. "One of the benefits we have been able to pass on to you during this time is a best in class home experience. We added massive capacity well ahead of the curve to meet your growing demand," the note said. Stating that there were queries by some who wanted their friends and family to experience Airtel Services (for mobile, broadband or TV), Vittal said, "We would be delighted to do what it takes to welcome them into the Airtel family". Economic and business activities are slowly restarting outside containment zones, and partial movement has resumed within states in the third phase of lockdown. The government last week announced extension of the nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic for two more weeks till May 17, and issued new guidelines permitting different sets of relaxations in green, red, and orange zones, thus paving the way for a staggered exit while reopening the economy.
