The country's <keyword id="21969771" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="airport-industry" source="keywords">airport industry</keyword> is projected to report a <keyword id="20385116" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="profit-before-tax" source="keywords">profit before tax</keyword> of <keyword id="21969772" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="USD-1-3-billion" source="keywords">USD 1.3 billion</keyword> in the current financial year. The profit is anticipated to be Rs 256.1 (USD 3.1) per passenger in the fiscal ending March 2025, aviation advisory firm CAPA India said while giving projections at its <keyword id="21969773" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aviation-summit" source="keywords">aviation summit</keyword> in the national capital on Friday. In the current fiscal, <keyword id="21969774" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="passenger-throughput" source="keywords">passenger throughput</keyword> at Indian airports is estimated to rise to 404.9 million. Out of the total, 81.1 per cent will be domestic and 18.9 per cent will be international traffic, it said. As per the report, the <keyword id="20006900" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airport-Authority-of-India" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Airport Authority of India" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Airport Authority of India">Airport Authority of India</keyword>'s (AAI) profitability is likely to remain robust in FY2024 and FY2025. "The topline will grow due to an increase in aeronautical revenue along with the receipt of revenue share from the recently privatised six non-metro airports, without having to incur any expense associated with it - resulting in higher profitability," it added. The industry's profit before tax is expected to be USD 1.3 billion in this fiscal. "India's airport operators are forecast to register Rs 359.8 billion (USD 4.3 billion) in revenue for FY2025, representing a growth of 14.8 per cent y-o-y from FY2024," CAPA India said. Noting that airport infrastructure at metros and non-metros is ahead of demand, it said there is an ongoing USD 11 billion pipeline of investment, including in Tier 2 and Tier 3 airports. Airport industry to see profit before tax of $1.3 billion this fiscal

In a major leap towards sustainable and safe <keyword id="22116886" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="seaplane-operations" source="keywords">seaplane operations</keyword>, the civil aviation regulator, <keyword id="19899185" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="DGCA" source="keywords">DGCA</keyword>, has revamped its regulatory provisions. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) informed that the pivotal amendments will streamline infrastructure procedures, <keyword id="22087190" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pilot-training" source="keywords">pilot training</keyword> requirements, and regulatory compliances, paving the way for seaplane services to reach remote, inaccessible areas. "Initially established in 2008, the regulatory framework for seaplane operations was long due for a review. According to a DGCA Working Group recommending rationalization and revision of the said regulatory framework, revised regulations (CAR Section 3 Series C Part IX and CAR Section 7 Series B Part XVI) have been promulgated," an official statement said. The revised regulations incorporate easier training requirements and simplified approval processes for undertaking seaplane operations. Pilots with a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) can now qualify as seaplane-rated pilots by undertaking training at any ICAO-recognized training organisation globally. Additionally, new training opportunities for support roles are set to enhance employment potential at seaplane hubs nationwide. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) spearheaded the initiative to promote the seaplane ecosystem, providing guidance and engaging with stakeholders, including DGCA, State Governments, the <keyword id="19919137" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airports-Authority-of-India" source="keywords">Airports Authority of India</keyword> (AAI), Airlines, and Aircraft Manufacturers. These collaborative efforts have ensured that the new regulations address key stakeholder concerns and pave the way for growth in this niche area. DGCA revises regulations to boost seaplane operations under UDAN scheme

Surpassing the pre-Covid level by 10 per cent, the traffic reached 376.4 million in the fiscal ended March 2024. In a report, Icra said the overall traffic is expected to see a healthy growth of around 8-11 per cent year-on-year to around 407-418 million in FY2025, supported by strong pick-up in both leisure and business travel, improving connectivity to newer destinations in the domestic segment and the continued uptick in international travel. Indian airport operators' revenue is anticipated to grow 15-17 per cent on an annual basis in the current fiscal ending March 2025, it added.
