The Defence Ministry on Friday inked a nearly Rs 20,000 crore contract with <keyword id="6356166" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airbus" source="Orion">Airbus</keyword> Defence and Space of Spain to procure 56 C-295 medium transport aircraft which will replace Avro-748 planes of the <keyword id="15141" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Air-Force" source="Orion">Indian Air Force</keyword>. The long-pending procurement was cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Security two weeks back. "Contract signed between #MinistryOfDefence and @AirbusDefence &amp;Space, Spain for procurement of 56 C-295 transport aircraft for the #IAF," Defence Ministry Spokesperson A Bharat Bhushan Babu tweeted. Under the deal, 16 aircraft will be delivered in a flyaway condition by the Airbus Defence and Space within 48 months of signing the contract. The remaining 40 planes will be manufactured in India by a consortium of the Airbus Defence and Space and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) within 10 years of signing the contract, officials said. The C-295 MW aircraft is a transport plane of 5-10 tonne capacity. This is the first project of its kind in which a military aircraft will be manufactured in India by a private company. "All 56 aircraft will be installed with indigenous electronic warfare suite," the ministry had said on September 8 after the procurement was cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Security. The in-principle approval for the Avro replacement programme was accorded around nine years back. A large number of detail parts, sub-assemblies and major component assemblies of aerostructure are scheduled to be manufactured in India. The ministry had said that before completion of the deliveries, a servicing facility for C-295 MW aircraft is scheduled to be set up in India. A Tata Group company will make 40 Airbus C-295 transport aircraft out of the 56 ordered by the Indian Air Force

<ul><li>The <keyword id="15141" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Air-Force">Indian Air Force</keyword> (IAF) has initiated work on two of its ambitious ‘<keyword id="6354869" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="make-in-India">Make in India</keyword>’ projects to acquire <keyword id="6408212" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="114-fighter-jets">114 fighter jets</keyword> and the C-295 transport aircraft. </li><li>The project for 114 fighter jets is presently the biggest deal around the world, and includes French, US, Rusian and the European fighter <keyword id="6624488" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Eurofighter-Typhoon">Eurofighter Typhoon</keyword>. </li><li>The project is worth ₹1,50,000 crore and the C-295 transport aircraft is worth ₹11,929 crore. </li></ul>The Indian Air Force has initiated the process of its two ambitious Make in India projects for 114 fighter jets and 56 medium transport transport aircraft, worth about ₹1,50,000 crore. The authorities are working on a project to manufacture 114 fighter jets, as the request for proposal (RFP)---which invites interested bidders---might be issued in late 2019 or early 2020, <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/iaf-pushes-for-mega-make-in-india-projects-for-fighters-transport-planes/articleshow/70120240.cms?from=mdr">reported the Time of India</a>. A large number of international players are known to be interested to take part in indegenous production of these fighter jets. One of them known to be in the race is Rafale, along with F/A-18 and F-16 from the US, Mig 35 and Sukhoi-35 from Russia, Gripen-E from Sweden, and the Eurofighter typhoon. Depleting Numbers The proposal for 114 fighter jets is presently world’s biggest deal in aviation industry. “The 114-fighter project is crucial because the 36 Rafales and the indigenous Tejas light combat aircraft will not make up for the fast depleting numbers. There is an urgent need to plan for the future,” <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/iaf-pushes-for-mega-make-in-india-projects-for-fighters-transport-planes/articleshow/70120240.cms?from=mdr">a source told TOI</a>. The Indian Air Force (IAF) severely lacks fighter squadrons. Only 30 of the 42 available squadrons are in working condition. However, these numbers will be reinforced as Rafale jets from <keyword id="6354785" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="france">France</keyword> will be delivered in May 2020. The deal worth ₹56,000 crore was finalised in 2016. The induction team of the IAF which includes 10 pilots, 10 flight engineers and 40 technicians are currently undergoing training in France. Tata-Airbus venture The Air Force is already working on medium transport aircraft which will be manufactured by the TATA-Airbus consortium. This production is expected to kickstart in 2019-20. The TATA-Airbus joint venture for 56 twin turboprop tactical C-295 is in its final stages. “The extensive trials and CNC (contract negotiations committee) are over now. DAC will take up the project to approve certain deviations before sending it to the cabinet committee on security for the final nod,” as per sources. The C-295 planes will replace the Avro Aircraft, which was first inducted in 1960’s. Initially valued at ₹11,929 crore, it was meant for the Indian private sector to enter aerospace manufacturing. The aircraft will be delivered in two phases. Airbus will supply the first 10 aircraft and the remaining 40 will be manufactured by TATA in India, over the next eight years.

Air Force to call bids for 114 jets worth ₹1,50,000 crore--to be Made in India

Lucknow, Feb 6 () Airbus India and Adani Defence signed an agreement on Thursday to leverage synergies in aerospace and aircraft services, a fast-growing sector that is estimated to generate annual business worth USD 6.3 billion in the country by 2025. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Anand Stanley, president and managing director of Airbus India and South Asia, and Ashish Rajvanshi, the head of Adani Defence and Aerospace. Airbus and Adani Defence will explore opportunities for collaboration in the area of aircraft services for Indian and South Asian market, the Airbus said after signing of the pact at the DefExpo2020 in Lucknow. Airbus' global services forecast envisages the Indian aircraft services market to grow to USD 6.3 billion by 2025. "Airbus is not only the world's leading civil aviation company, but also a major innovator and provider of aircraft services. This MoU demonstrates our commitment to support the development of India as a world-class services hub for aerospace products," Stanley said. With Adani's recent foray into airports, this potential collaboration will leverage the synergies between the product and services excellence of Airbus and infrastructure, engineering and mega-project execution capabilities of Adani, the Airbus said. "India is at the cusp of transformational growth in aircraft services market," Rajvanshi said. "Our collaboration with Airbus is aligned to our vision of nation building and to indigenise critical technologies and services, thus creating a vibrant ecosystem in aerospace capabilities in India." Airbus, Adani Defence join hands to explore aircraft services market

In a huge success to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Narendra+Modi">PM Narendra </a><a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Narendra+Modi">Modi</a>’s ‘<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=make+in+india">Make in India</a>’ initiative, <keyword id="6356166" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Airbus">Airbus</keyword> said commercial aircraft produced by it is partly 'Made in India'. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=airbus">Airbus Group</a> said it exceeded the $500 million annual procurement mark from India in 2015 and now is targeting over $2 billion in cumulative procurement, covering both civil and defence, in the five years up to 2020. 
 
The last year's figure represents a 15 per cent growth over 2014. 
 
Overall, Airbus Group's procurement from India has grown 16 times in the last decade. Today, every Airbus commercial aircraft being produced is partly Made-in-India, a statement by the company said. 
 
"Indian suppliers are a cornerstone of our globalisation strategy," said Klaus Richter, Chief Procurement Officer, Airbus Group and Airbus, adding "Many of the projects with our Indian partners have been very successful and we aim to further strengthen these relationships in future." 
 
Over 6,000 people at more than 45 suppliers, both public and private, are directly engaged in providing engineering and IT services, aero-structures, detail parts and systems, materials and cabins to the group for several of its leading platforms, including A380, A350 XWB, A320 Family, A330, C295W, A400M, Eurofighter, Tiger and NH90.

Airbus leads by example in Make in India campaign, crosses $500-million annual procurement mark

AdGreen Energy (<keyword id="4621631" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="agel" source="Orion">AGEL</keyword>), the renewables arm of the Adani Group, on Friday announced that its fourth wind-solar hybrid power plant at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan is fully operational and the asset has been capitalised. The combined operational generation capacity of this newly added hybrid power plant is 700 MW and has a power purchase agreement (PPA) at Rs 3.24/kwh for 25 years, according to a statement from the firm released on Friday. This new hybrid power plant consists of a combination of 600 MW solar and 510 MW wind plants. The company said its latest hybrid plant deploys advanced renewable technologies like bifacial solar PV modules and horizontal single-axis trackers (HSAT) systems to enable maximum electricity generation from solar energy. A bifacial panel can generate power from both sides, boosting overall electricity production. The plant is co-located and is designed to deliver capacity utilisation factor (CUF) of minimum 50 per cent, the highest CUF of any renewable project in <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>. The firm said the plant harnesses the potential of renewable energy by resolving intermittency of the generation and provides a more reliable solution to meet the rising power demand. With this, AGEL's operating wind-solar hybrid portfolio has now reached 2,140 MW, continuing to be the largest in the world, according to the company statement. With the successful operationalisation of the 700 MW plant, the world's largest wind-solar hybrid power plant, AGEL now has the largest operating renewable portfolio in India with 8,024 MW, <keyword id="4343578" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="adani-green" source="Orion">Adani Green</keyword> said on Friday. The plant is housed under AGEL's 100 per cent subsidiary -- Adani Hybrid Energy Jaisalmer Four Limited. "Earlier in May 2022, AGEL had operationalised India's first hybrid power plant of 390 MW," Adani Green said in the statement, adding that this was followed by the commissioning of the world's largest co-located hybrid power plant of 600 MW in September 2022 and the third hybrid power plant of 450 MW in December 2022. "All three of these hybrid energy generation assets are located in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan." Adani Green Energy (AGEL) has one of the largest global renewable portfolios with the overall portfolio of 20.4 GW including operating, under-construction and awarded projects catering to investment-grade counterparties. South Africa resumes passenger flights after 1.5 years amid COVID-19 pandemic
