<ul><li>A lot of hopes rest on this year's <keyword id="36208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="festive-season" source="Orion">festive season</keyword> for businesses across the country. With Covid numbers in control, it is expected that consumer sentiments will take a positive turn.</li><li>According to a recent report by <keyword id="6618217" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="admitad" source="Orion">Admitad</keyword>, the festive season is expected to reach Rs 7.9 billion, which will be a 3X growth over last year.</li><li>The report also states that consumers will prefer online shopping to offline shopping thereby increasing the hike in sales during the festival time.</li></ul>The 2020 festive season has clocked Rs 2.9 billion (GMV) sales for the online brands. This year it is expected to reach 7.9 billion INR and thus increase the growth by over 3X. Most likely, the maximum number of orders across the country will be coming through the categories of Electronics, Fashion, and Apparel, Baby products, Furniture and Homeware. The electronics category is expected to jump to a 41% rise making the category the most popular among the consumers during the festive season. Fashion and apparel are expected to touch the 33% rise in the market. As work from home continues to be a part of the system, Furniture and Homeware products are expected to grow about 11%. As per the analysis, consumers will be preferring online shopping to offline shopping thereby increasing the hike in sales during the festival time. As the covid-19 pandemic continues to improve, Indians are excited about the upcoming festival season sales and are surely planning to make a purchase during this time. As per our analysis, the growth during festive season sales 2021 is expected to grow by 14 % compared to last year. Indians are known to be festival shoppers, and the trend has continued even during the post-COVID-19 scenario. Even in the apparels segment, the Diwali period registered a 20% increase in the number of orders, with the sales achieving close to INR 2.08 crores as compared to INR 1.72 crores during the pre-Diwali week. According to Admitad's analysis, there has been a 31% increase in the Gifts &amp; Flowers category i.e. garnering more than INR 15 lacs during the Diwali week, as compared to INR 10.68 lacs pre-Diwali. According to a panel of speakers on Business Insider’s <a href="https://twitter.com/BiIndia/status/1549037167196131329">discussions around the need for digital marketing for MSME</a>s, both online and traditional offline marketing tactics have to be used to form smart hybrid brand awareness activities for these <keyword id="390673" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="small-businesses" source="Orion">small businesses</keyword>. Preeti Ubale, co-founder and COO of software company SMBXL, noted that MSMEs need immediate revenues and mass media like TV, radio, hoarding and pamphlets can offer them that much more easily. In comparison, digital marketing initiatives take time to show results unless they are paying a platform or marketplace. “The only thing used to fetch them immediate sales [was] having feet on the street, going and approaching their customers, talking to them, convincing them. So this was immediate sales and when it comes to digital, it is not immediate,” Ubale added. She noted that there is no specific formula for how to allocate funds for both these marketing initiatives, as it all depends on the stage a business is in. Meanwhile, Amoli Nagpal, head of e-commerce and SME segment at IT company Admitad Affiliate Network India, also emphasizes on a ‘healthy mix’ of online and online marketing initiatives if a small business has a target to increase return on investment (ROI) and transactions. Five in ten (or about 53%) micro and small enterprises in India were using digital sales channels such as online aggregators, marketplaces, social media and mobile marketing by January 2021, a Crisil report based on a survey of 566 companies noted. The number was at three out of ten (or about 29%) pre-pandemic. Even Indian fintechs have jumped in to help this segment overcome their biggest challenge of access to capital.
