Despite India putting up a progressive face when it comes to certain issues, it’s an unfortunate reality that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=adoption&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">adoption</a> still remains a tricky subject with many in the country. 
 Regardless, once in a while it so happens that you come across stories of people that bring a smile to your face. And, <keyword id="1348577" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aditya-Tiwari">Aditya Tiwari</keyword>, a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=pune&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Pune</a>-based software engineer is one such instance. 
 Single and just 28 years old, Tiwari became the <keyword id="3340228" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="youngest-single-parent">youngest single parent</keyword> in India when he adopted a child with special needs. 
Back in 2014, Tiwari, 26, was distributing sweets on the occasion of his father’s birthday at an orphanage of the Missionaries of Charity in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=indore&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Indore</a> when he first spotted <keyword id="2912390" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Binney">Binney</keyword>. 
 
Binney had made the orphanage his home after being abandoned by his parents from Bhopal because he had a hole in his heart and suffered from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=down%27s+syndrome&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Down’s syndrome.</a> 
 
“There were a lot of kids at the orphanage when I was distributing a few things there; however Binney caught my eye because he was lying on a cat away from all the revelry. When I went to play with him, he held my finger and wouldn’t let go. I instantly felt affection at that moment, however truth be told I didn’t think of adopting him then.” Tiwari explains. 
 
The exact moment when he decided he would adopt adopt Binney came barely a month later when he revisited the orphanage and found out that while many other children had been adopted, no family was willing to take Binney as their own. 
 
Suddenly, Tiwari knew Binney would be his son. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as easy as he thought it would be. 
 
As expected, there were several roadblocks in store for him. Initially, his parents objected to the idea. It took them quite a while to warm up to the idea of their unmarried son adopting a child with special needs. Then there were the orphanage authorities who told him that they could not let a single man adopt a kid as The Missionaries of Charity were against single-parent adoptions. 
 
Having made up his mind, Tiwari was not one to give up. For the next few months, he kept revisiting the orphanage in order to convince the sisters about his intentions. He also went ahead and contacted the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare Department (WCD) and even sent over 100 emails to Maneka Gandhi. 
 
 
The move paid off as the ministry wrote back to him informing that in India, the legal age for an unmarried man to adopt a child is 30 years. But, Tiwari was unwilling to wait for 4 more years. 
 
He thus complained to the Prime Minister’s Office, wrote to some members of Parliament and human rights activists asking that the age-limit be amended so he could adopt the boy at the earliest. 
 
He even met the boy’s biological parents to understand why they deserted and was shocked to learn that they were financially capable of handing Binney, but abandoned him because they feared being an embarrassment to the society due to his condition. Hearing that, Tiwari was even more resolved to father Binney. 
 
He once again petitioned the PMO and WCD. 
 
What happened next was one of the turning points in Tiwari’s life. 
 Sometime in August 2015, the laws of <keyword id="6411790" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="adoption">adoption</keyword> were amended and the age limit for single men to adopt children was reduced to 25. (Government officials claim that Tiwari’s case was a crucial catalyst.) 
 
Understandably, Tiwari was elated when he heard of the change and a ream of government officials got to work to conduct a detailed background check on him. 
 
And, finally on December 2015, after struggling for 15 months, Tiwari received a mail that instructed him to take Binney home in the first week of January. 
 
 
 
Binney who is now approximately two years old has been christened as Avinsh Tiwari by his father. 
 
Tiwari understands that due to Down’s syndrome, his son’s mental growth will be slow as compared to other children, but he is determined to not give up unlike his biological parents. 
 
“I have consulted quite a few doctors and they’ve advised me that it would be better for Binney if he is around children more. There happens to be a daycare in my office building and I intend to keep him there when I’m at work,” says Tiwari, who also gets adoption leave for 150 days from work. 
 
Aditya is an example that a man doesn’t have to be married to be a loving father.

Ericsson India is setting an example for every other organisation in the country by celebrating a global diversity month in order to help employees fight stereotypes. 
 
Infract, Ericsson has also launched a global campaign ‘Ericsson sees the real you,’ for its employees across the world. 
 
The objective of the new campaign is to encourage employees to reach out to their higher self and embrace all the elements of diversity- culture, colour, age, gender, in order to nurture a truly inclusive work place. 
 “The idea behind celebrating Global Diversity Month at Ericsson India is to help create a workplace that is more inclusive in nature. If we’re unable to foster an environment which is truly inviting, it defeats the point of diversity,” said <keyword id="2561011" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sameer-Khanna">Sameer Khanna</keyword>, VP and Head of HR, Ericsson India. 
 
In India, the campaign is a part of the 'Blue River Project' which was launched to sensitize the employees on diversity and inclusion and create a high performance culture. 
 
As part of new global campaign, the company has created a virtual employee wall where their employees (across the globe) can send an image and description of themselves. The idea behind it is to fight unconscious bias through challenging what people see in an image and who they really are. 
 To visibly demonstrate championship, accountability and commitment, Ericsson India also invited Aditya Tiwari, the youngest Indian male to adopt a child, <keyword id="3767604" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="mrs-laxmi">Mrs Laxmi</keyword>, an acid attack survivor, who recently walked the <keyword id="7746" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="London-Fashion-Week">London Fashion Week</keyword> and Mr. Alok Mittal, Lakshmi’s husband, a journalist turned activist, who’s fighting for internet freedom &amp; for the cause of acid attack victims for sessions around disability and gender balance.

Ericsson India is celebrating 'Global Diversity Awareness Month' to fight stereotypes at workplaces

Twenty-eight-year old <keyword id="1348577" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aditya-Tiwari">Aditya Tiwari</keyword>, a <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=pune&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Pune</a>-based software engineer had grabbed headlines a few months back when he became <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Meet-Aditya-Tiwari-the-youngest-single-man-in-India-to-adopt-a-child/articleshow/52011114.cms">India's youngest single father </a>by adopting a toddler suffering from <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=down%27s+syndrome&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Down’s syndrome</a> and a hole in his heart after a legal battle that lasted nearly a year and a half. 
 
Tiwari was lauded for his gesture, which assumes a greater importance especially in a country that is yet to embrace <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=adoption&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">adoption</a>. The fact that he had adopted a one and a half year old kid who was suffering from Down’s syndrome was another factor that led to Tiwari’s move being spectacular and an example for everyone in the country. 
 
And, now he’s back in the news again as he readied to tie the knot with Arpita, whom he's known for the last 15 years. Tiwari’s wedding ceremony took place in his hometown <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=indore&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Indore</a> on July 16. 
 
By his own admission, he said that the reason it took him this long to marry someone is because he wanted to find someone who would love and take care of his adopted child Avneesh, as much as him. But he believes he has found the right life-partner. 
 
 
 
Taking about his wife, an ecstatic Tiwari said, “I am glad I found her and she dotes on Avneesh more than I do.” 
 
Apart from this being great news, what makes Tiwari’s wedding all the more applaud-worthy is that his guest list included 10,000 homeless people and orphans and around 1,000 animals from zoos. 
 
“People tend to spend lakhs of rupees on their marriage by hiring disk jockeys, on decorations and lavish menu but I do not want to do the same. As it is one of the happiest days of my life, I want to include people who never get any invitations like children from orphanage, homeless and poor people,” revealed Tiwari, when asked about the unique guest-list. 
 
That’s not all. His special guests will receive books and medicines as gifts. Tiwari also planted 100 saplings to mark the occasion.

Patna, Aug 2 () Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey on Sunday charged that Vinay Tiwari, the IPS officer from Patna who is in Mumbai to probe a case related to Bollywood actor <keyword id="6356062" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sushant-Singh-Rajput">Sushant Singh Rajput</keyword>'s death, has been "forcibly quarantined" by civic authorities in the metropolis. Tiwari is heading a Bihar Police team which is in Mumbai to investigate an ''abetment to suicide'' case on the basis of a complaint filed by the late actor's father in Patna. "IPS officer Vinay Tiwari reached Mumbai today from Patna on official duty to lead the police team there but he has been forcibly quarantined by BMC officials at 11 PM today," Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Pandey tweeted. "He was not provided accommodation in the IPS mess, despite request, and was staying in a Guest House in Goregaon," he said. Rajput, 34, was found hanging from the ceiling of his Bandra residence on June 24 last. Last month, Rajput's father lodged an FIR here of abetment to suicide naming actress Rhea Chakraborty, said to be close to the deceased Patna-born actor, and her family members as accused. Tiwari was posted as the City SP (East) in Patna. Mumbai, Former Lok Sabha Speaker and ex-Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar G. <keyword id="19952829" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="joshi" source="keywords">Joshi</keyword>, a senior <keyword id="19905334" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shiv-sena" source="keywords">Shiv Sena</keyword> (UBT) leader, passed away following a heart attack early on Friday morning. "Our family is deeply saddened to inform you that <keyword id="20281058" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="manohar-joshi" source="keywords">Manohar Joshi</keyword> passed away today morning at 3 a.m. following prolonged age related health issues," his family said in a terse announcement at dawn. Joshi, 86, was rushed to the Hinduja Hospital in Mahim after suffering a heart attack late on Thursday. 'Sir', as he was popular in political circles because of his teaching background and a stern demeanour, succumbed during treatment around 3 a.m., plunging the state political fraternity into gloom. His family said that Joshi's mortal remains will be kept at their home in Matunga to enable people to pay their last respects from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., and then taken in a procession for the funeral at Dadar Crematorium around 3 p.m. One of the closest confidantes of the late Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, Joshi had over six decades in politics starting as a Municipal Corporator, then Mayor, Maharashtra CM, Union Minister, then crowning glory as the Speaker of Lok Sabha. Joshi had been suffering from certain old-age related ailments for the past several months and largely kept out of public glare, but remained with the SS-UBT, till he breathed his last. Top leaders across the political spectrum have paid rich tributes to Joshi who headed the first-ever saffron government in the state comprising the undivided Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party (1995-1999), in an era when politics was more principled and less unscrupulous. Amazon to kick off month-long Great Indian Festival sale from October 4 onwards

And perhaps not surprisingly many want to beat up China .Parents across the country, and the world, are grappling with an unprecedented challenge of dealing with their children who are too old to be shushed or placated and too young to understand the inexplicable situation the world has found itself in. journalists across India shared experiences and conversations with their children aged 2 to 13, which ranged from cute to poignant and heart-wrenching to humorous, and some with sagacity far beyond their age. Here are some of the experiences from around the country: Niheer Waghmare, all of 2 years 4 months, is a diehard fan of his father Aditya's Royal Enfield motorcycle. A short ride around Aurangabad is mandatory every day. When the lockdown started, this practice stopped. Now the bike engine is started every morning for him to sit on its petrol tank and drink his milk. His mother told him: "There is a threat called corona on roads outside. It will attack and injure us". He understood it's something dangerous. "He said, 'once corona ends, I will go to the hills'. For now, I show the hills to him from the roof of my house," said Waghmare. ---- Three-year-old Ira was never too keen to go to playschool. But since the lockdown she's been insisting on being with her playgroup. So her mother, Arundhati Pattabhiraman, dresses up Ira every morning and lines up her toys to create an environment similar to her play school. To make her understand about coronavirus, "we made it into a story that it is a monster which will catch her if she steps out of the house or if she doesn't wash her hands. So now every time she speaks to her grandparents, she ends the conversation with 'wash your hands or coronavirus will get you'." ----- Anvay Deshmukh, 4, believes he can beat the "Corona-demon" in a fist fight. He also checks out the main gate of the house a couple of times in a day, thinking he may spot the demon so that he can fight with him. "We have informed him that he is not supposed to touch him and keep his hands clean so that coronavirus will not recognise him. He has started joyously clapping every time after washing his hands" said his father Nikhil Deshmukh in Mumbai."We had to come up with a story of Corona-demon who is on the loose and is wandering on the streets," said Deshmukh. "He at times believes that." ----- Ananya Jaiswal, who is 5, used to go on a horse cart ride every weekend, followed by her favourite cheese dosa and watermelon juice. Accepting that the horse cart ride is not possible now, she has found an alternative -- her soft toy, a huge Winnie the Pooh, on which she sits and pretends to be on a horse. As for the cheese dosa, "we try to make her happy by making her favourite delicacies," said her mother Komal Panchamatia in Mumbai. The other day, she chose to wear her party dress and got ready with matching accessories. She wore it throughout the day, said Panchamatia, who like everyone else is working from home. "Ananya has by now understood that I have a teacher and I have been given homework to do every day." ____ Mihika Menon, 8, is disturbed every time her father talks about the rising number of coronavirus cases. Unable to keep up her routine of visiting the British Library every two weeks, she is re-reading old books, especially the Thea Stilton series. ----- Shaalvi Kolhatkar in Pune turned three on March 20 and celebrated her birthday without a party or friends. She insisted on going out but her parents keep her at home by engaging her in producing colourful decoration, cake baking and photo sessions. "Her non-stop chatter keeps us refreshed and motivated in this hard time," said her father, Sandip Kolhatkar. ----- Airah Zaidi, 7, whose school in Ghaziabad broke for the two-week recess on March 9 before the start of new session, is bored to death and now longs to go to school. So what does she miss most about school? "Seeing teachers get angry and students being naughty," said Airah. She tells her dad that Chinese people should not be eating "bats and insects" which she believes is the reason for the spread of coronavirus. "Chinese people should spread whatever disease they want in their country but not in India." "I want to hit the Chinese people on their head," says her brother, Wali Zaidi, 4. ----- It has been difficult for Sanjay Ganjoo in Chandigarh to restrict his younger son Saiyam, 8, indoors. A family trip to Mumbai planned for March 23 was cancelled and Saiyam doesn't understand why. Ganjoo has no answer when Saiyam asked him: "Will the lockdown last till June and will I not be able to celebrate my birthday?" ----- On March 15 when the Maharashtra government ordered all schools to shut, five-year-old Arjun Tiwari was excited, no questions asked. Now his only concern is will normalcy return before his sixth birthday in June. ----- Alya Srivastava, 13, is sad that the celebration of her best friend's birthday on Monday, has been cancelled. "Why are we being deprived of this little fun and enjoyment. Why there is no cure for the disease? When will I be able to go to school?" ----- Anushka Makne's virtual school session began from April 1. On March 31 night, she refused to go to sleep early. Banjop Mukhim's 5-year-old son Mayan Nongbri in Shillong is livid over missing school and football, all because of coronavirus. But, he is happy to have his mother at home with him. He has decided to break his piggy bank and donate coins in the CM Relief Fund to fight COVID-19. ----- Ten-year-old Kartik Mehra, a student of Gyan Bharti School in New Delhi has clear ideas about coronavirus. "Coronavirus is made in China. I have seen in news, it got leaked when people were shot in a market in China. I know it is dangerous so I don't go anywhere." ---- For Dahliya Tyagi, 13, being with parents at a stretch for days is new is to her as she is used to one of them being absent. After Zindagi, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) has now announced &amp;TV, its another premium entertainment channel. 
 
Synonymous with the spirit of new-age India, &amp;TV signifies a conjunction of aspirations and rootedness, much like the amalgamation of various TV shows that mark their debut with the channel tonight. 
 The first show to be aired would be <keyword id="378933" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Razia-Sultan">Razia Sultan</keyword>, who was the first woman ruler from India. The show has been produced by Swastik Productions and stars Pankhuri Awasthi and Sooraj Thapar in lead roles, who play Razia Sultan and her father Iltutmish, respectively. It would air at 7:30 PM from Monday to Friday.

Based on the lives of land mafias of Bihar, the show has Shweta Tiwari, Vaishnavi Dhanraj, Vishal Aditya Singh and Dheeraj Miglani. The highlight of the show, however, would be veteran actress Sulbha Arya, who is donning a negative role for the first time. 
 Next, the channel has a comedy show in line for its audience. Called <keyword id="2749105" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bhabhi-Ji-Ghar-Par-Hain">Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain</keyword>, the show would be based in a middle-class Indian society from Kanpur, and would be focusing on two neighbouring families. Sabse Shaana Kaun And Four More New Shows To Debut Tonight

The recent <keyword id="406897" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="farmer-protests">farmer protests</keyword> in <keyword id="13126" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword>, in which around 40,000 farmers and tribals staged a peaceful 180 km march from Nashik to <keyword id="6358070" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mumbai">Mumbai</keyword>, has been lauded for its execution by politicians and media outlets alike, with The Hindu even calling it a <a href="http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/editorial/a-model-protest/article23229917.ece">“model protest”</a> and the chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, saying that he was “deeply humbled” before agreeing to their demands. What really made the farmers protests stand out and ultimately successful, was its amazing public relations machine. The farmers earned the sympathy of not only the citizens of Mumbai but the rest of India, as they marched at night to avoid disruptions to urban commuters and students sitting for their board exams. There were no overt theatrics or violence, unlike the farmer protests around Maharashtra between June last year which resulted in the announcement of the 34,000 crore <keyword id="56684" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="loan-waiver">loan waiver</keyword> scheme. The organisation sponsoring the march, All-India Kisan Sabha, an ally of the Communist Party of India, left no stone unturned when it came to social media.  The march benefited from widespread media coverage. On March 12th, the Indian Express ran a <a href="http://epaper.indianexpress.com/1575825/Delhi/March-12,-2018#page/1/2">front page report</a> on the march and included interviews with 10 participating farmers on the problems they were facing. Scroll conducted <a href="https://www.facebook.com/scroll.in/videos/1718003171615889/?hc_ref=ARS9e9XHfRx2R7ilvXgedCUq-Zqf43UQC40hbD4YM2G547c0iDuf5AHHY0kBTg8_68E&amp;pnref=story.unseen-section">Facebook Live conversations</a> with farmers and Mid-Day ran a front-page headline that read, “Mumbaikars Welcome Farmers With Open Arms”. In a <a href="https://thewire.in/rights/i-walked-40km-with-the-farmers-in-maharashtra-heres-what-i-learnt">piece for the Wire,</a> Ayush Dubey, a young journalist, wrote of his experience as a participant in the march, stating “this is a real protest by a sad farmer community. They are working hard for their demands”. All news outlets explicitly mentioned that the farmers were looking for more than just debt forgiveness. It was clear that they were also calling for the implementation of property rights and minimum support prices for their produce as well as the cancellation of river-sharing agreements. Attention was also drawn to the severity of their conditions, epitomised by their bleeding, blistered feet- a sign of dignified, non-violent desperation. The public didn’t need any more convincing. Images of the march at night went viral on social media on March 11th.  There were also posts that highlighted the ingenuity of the farmers, making them stand out as individuals as opposed to faceless members of a crowd.  The success of the march, especially in terms of public relations, points to why the protests by Tamil Nadu farmers in Delhi last year didn’t amount to much. Starting in March last year, around 150 farmers from Tamil Nadu staged a protest for 144 days outside the Jantar Mantar to ask for a loan waiver, which would be financed by the Centre’s drought relief fund. Their protests also received media coverage and sympathy from statesmen like Rahul Gandhi and the chief minister of Tamil Nadu but failed to elicit the same level of public support as the long march in Maharashtra. There are likely many reasons for this. First, the numbers might have been too low to justify a full-blown media frenzy. 150 farmers feels too small compared to a procession of 40,000 farmers. Secondly, given the fast pace of the 24-hours news cycle, the 144-day protest likely lost relevance to news readers and viewers well before its conclusion. The protest also lacked a groundswell of support from beginning as the farmers from Tamil Nadu weren’t on their home turf. Being stationed in the capital, which was necessary given that it was a federal rather than a state issue, might have actually worked against their favour. Lastly, unlike their counterparts in Maharashtra, their protest tactics, which included the brandishing of skulls, the consumption of faeces and stripping, might have proved too “unpalatable” to the public. With their well-oiled public relations machine and sponsorship by a national farmers union, the Maharashtra farmers were able to wrest public support and effectively demonstrate the importance of their cause.
