A resolution through a postal ballot notice has been passed with requisite majority, the company said in a late night stock exchange filing on Wednesday. According to the postal ballot notice, the company will raise up to Rs 1,524.60 crore by preferential issue of up to 46.20 crore <keyword id="20035340" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="equity-shares" source="keywords">equity shares</keyword> and/or warrants convertible into equivalent number of equity shares at a price of Rs 33 per apiece. On September 23, the board of Reliance Power Ltd had approved raising Rs 1,524.60 crore through issue of preferential shares, wherein promoters will infuse Rs 600 crore into the company to advance its business. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="79183505" title="Happy Dhanteras 2024 messages and wishes" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> Reliance Infrastructure, the promoter of the company, will enhance its equity stake by over Rs 600 crore. The other investors who will participate in the preferential issue include Authum Investment and Infrastructure Ltd and Sanatan Financial Advisory Services. The fresh fund would be utilised for expansion of business operations directly and/or through investment in subsidiaries and joint ventures, debt reduction and for general corporate purposes, the company said. The preferential issue will enhance the company's net worth from about Rs 11,155 crore to over Rs 12,680 crore, it said. "Prosecutors detailed how an Adani frontman invested in opaque BVI/Mauritius &amp; Bermuda funds that almost exclusively owned <keyword id="20372802" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Adani-stocks" source="keywords">Adani stocks</keyword>," it said citing the report. Adani group rejected the allegations as baseless, saying it had no involvement in any Swiss court proceedings. "We unequivocally reject and deny the baseless allegations presented. The Adani Group has no involvement in any Swiss court proceedings, nor have any of our company accounts been subject to sequestration by any authority," it said. The Swiss media outlet Gotham City in its report stated that a ruling by the Federal Criminal Court (FCC) reveals that the Geneva Public Prosecutor's Office was investigating alleged wrongdoing and more than USD 310 million belonging to an alleged frontman for billionaire <keyword id="19929098" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gautam-Adani" source="keywords">Gautam Adani</keyword> have been sequestered in five Swiss banks over the last three years. "Valuations are certainly elevated, but the power of over-easy monetary and fiscal policy, relative to conditions, is likely stronger than any concern about valuation in the near-term for most investors."Not only have investor expectations been adjusted, but the uncertainty that has kept many investors in safer assets has now been removed and should leave more inflows, Elliott said."A lot of the clouds have cleared, and so it's very likely we see those folks who remained cautious through this week start to allocate capital, particularly through the end of the year," he said.In terms of fiscal policy, Elliott said that Republicans would likely extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which will keep corporate and individual taxes lower than they were likely to have defaulted to under a Democratic administration or split government.The amount of mergers and acquisitions should also increase thanks to lower regulations, he said.Tariffs and the large-scale deportation of migrants would be aspects of Trump's agenda that could be damaging to growth, Elliott added, though it's unclear how likely these initiatives are to be carried out, For example, tariffs could just be bargaining chips being put forth by Trump to negotiate new trade terms with other countries."We probably won't really know what that path will look like until the second half of 2025," he said.Until then, the outlook is bullish for "everything but bonds," Elliott said.But three areas within the broader stock market should be primed for more upside than others. A solid macroeconomic backdrop and falling rates have typically been factors that are good for cheaper stocks, he said, and they should get more of a boost relative to other areas of the market in the near future."When you get these types of conditions where you have reasonably strong economic conditions and a loosening or an easing of policy, that often will cause liquidity to take advantage of or flow to unloved corners of the market," he said.He continued: "So areas that have been underperforming — things like small-caps, energy stocks, financials — areas like that that just have not seen the sort of top-line demand that things like tech stocks have seen."Investors can gain exposure to these areas of the market through funds like the Vanguard Small-Cap ETF (<a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/etfs/vanguard-small-index-fund-etf-shares-us9229087518?miRedirects=2">VB</a>), the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (<a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/etfs/the-energy-select-sector-spdr-fund-us81369y5069?miRedirects=2">XLE</a>), and the iShares US Financials ETF (<a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/etfs/ishares-us-financials-etf-us4642877884?miRedirects=2">IYF</a>).

Adani has been charged over his role in an alleged years-long scheme to pay a $250 million bribe to Indian officials in exchange for favourable terms for solar power contracts. The stock of the group's flagship firm Adani Enterprises plunged 22.99%, Adani Ports dived 20%, Adani Energy Solutions tanked 20%, Adani Green Energy plummeted 19.53% and Adani Total Gas tumbled 18.14% on the BSE. Shares of Adani Power slumped 17.79%, Ambuja Cements cracked 17.59%, ACC fell 14.54%, NDTV dropped 14.37% and Adani Wilmar declined 10%. Some of the group firms also hit their lowest trading permissible limit or lower circuit for the day. The combined market capitalisation (mcap) of all the ten listed group firms eroded by ₹2,45,016.51 crore during the morning deals. In the equity market, the BSE benchmark Sensex traded 536.89 points lower at 77,041.49 and the NSE Nifty quoted 186.75 points down at 23,331.75. US prosecutors charged Adani, 62, his nephew Sagar and other defendants for paying over $250 million in bribes between 2020 and 2024 to Indian government officials to win solar energy contracts on terms that could potentially bring in more than $2 billion in profit. This, they alleged, was concealed from the US banks and investors from whom the Adani group raised billions of dollars for the project. The complaint charges them with violating the antifraud provisions of the federal securities laws and seeks permanent injunctions, civil penalties, and officer and director bars. US law allows pursuing foreign corruption allegations if they involve certain links to American investors or markets. The Adani group did not immediately respond to requests for comments. "The defendants orchestrated an elaborate scheme to bribe Indian government officials to secure contracts worth billions of dollars," Breon Peace, US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, which brought the case, said in a statement. Adani, chairman of the ports-to-energy Adani Group, his nephew Sagar R Adani, who is an executive director at the conglomerate's renewable energy arm Adani Green Energy Ltd, and its former CEO Vneet Jaain were charged with securities fraud, securities fraud conspiracy and wire fraud conspiracy.
