Adani Power is shortlisted in short-term ASM framework Stage-I effective March 23, according to separate circulars available on the exchanges. The move also comes close on the heels of the two exchanges moving <keyword id="1125083" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="adani-group-stocks" source="Orion">Adani group stocks</keyword> -- Adani Green Energy and NDTV -- from the second stage of the long-term ASM framework to Stage I on Monday. Interestingly, both the exchanges had put Adani Power along with Adani Enterprises and Adani Wilmar under short-term ASM on March 8. However, these three stocks were excluded from the short-term ASM framework on March 17. Currently, there is no Adani group stock in the short-term ASM framework. The parameters for shortlisting securities under ASM include high-low variation, client concentration, number of price band hits, close-to-close price variation and price-earning ratio. The NSE and BSE said Adani Power has satisfied the criteria for inclusion under short-term ASM. Under the short-term ASM, the exchanges said, "Applicable rate of margin shall be 50 per cent or existing margin whichever is higher, subject to maximum rate of margin capped at 100 per cent, w.e.f. March 24, 2023 on all open positions as on March 23, 2023 and new positions created from March 24, 2023." Market experts believe that putting in this framework means intra-day trading would require 100 per cent upfront margin. The bourses also noted that the shortlisting of securities under ASM is purely on account of market surveillance, and it should not be construed as an adverse action against the concerned company or entity. Meanwhile, stocks of eight Adani group companies out of the 10 listed entities closed in the green territory on Wednesday. After taking a beating on the bourses, following the report by US-based short seller <keyword id="9916845" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hindenburg-research" source="Orion">Hindenburg Research</keyword>, the group stocks had recovered. However, amid sluggish broader market trends, the group's stocks have declined in the last few trading sessions. The report had made a litany of allegations, including fraudulent transactions and share-price manipulation, against it. The group has dismissed the charges as lies, saying it complies with all laws and disclosure requirements. <keyword id="45417" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Adani-Power">Adani Power</keyword> on Thursday posted a consolidated net profit of ₹13.13 crore in the March 2021 quarter, mainly on account of higher revenues. The company had posted a consolidated net loss of ₹1,312.86 crore in the quarter ended March 31, 2020, a <keyword id="35140" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE">BSE</keyword> filing said. Total income of the company rose to ₹6,902.01 crore in the quarter from ₹6,327.57 crore in the same period a year ago. For the entire fiscal year (2020-21), the company's consolidated net profit stood at ₹1,269.98 crore. It had reported a loss of ₹2,274.77 crore in 2019-20. Total income in 2020-21 came in at ₹28,149,68 crore as compared to ₹27,841.81 crore in 2019-20. During fourth quarter of 2020-21, Adani Power, along with the power plants of its subsidiaries achieved an Average Plant Load Factor (PLF or capacity utilisation) of 59.6 pe cent, and aggregate sales volumes of 14.8 Billion Units (BU). In comparison, during the fourth quarter of 2019-20, Adani Power and its subsidiaries achieved an average PLF of 65.5 per cent and sales volume of 16.5 BU. Operating performance was affected due to lower merchant sales and grid backdown in various plants, as well as reserve, shutdown at <keyword id="48302" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Udupi">Udupi</keyword> due to higher penetration of renewables, the company said. When it came to coal demand India was also the only prominent country. Consumption increased nearly 5%. The outstanding performance of the coal industry helped the largest pure coal mining company in the world, Coal India, to achieve its place at 38th in the Top 250 ranks. 
 
Not only Asia-Pacific companies made headlines, they also managed to get 19 of those top spots among fastest growing companies, which were dominated by power companies, but they were winners on several other fronts this year 
 
South Korea's Korea Electric Power Corp (KEPCO) now stands just behind Exxon, which held at #1 for the 12th consecutive year. KEPCO was the surprise in the global Top 250 leader board as it stood at 2nd place, a rise from 41st place in 2015. 
 
Exploration and production got hit in the rankings as they came down to only 16 positions from 42 last year. About 24 U.S. and Canadian firms have dropped out of the rankings. But it was U.S.-based E&amp;P Antero Resources Corp. that topped the fastest growers with a 3-year compound growth rate of 81.1%.

RIL ranked the 8th largest energy company globally

New Delhi, Jun 23 () Adani Power will acquire US-based The AES Corporation's 49 per cent equity stake in Odisha Power Generation Corporation for USD 135 million (around Rs 1,019 crore), the Adani group firm said on Tuesday. "Adani Power Ltd (APL) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the 49 per cent stake in Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) from the affiliates of The AES Corporation (AES), the US-based global energy company," a regulatory filing said. Adani Power will acquire a total of 89,30,237 equity shares held in OPGC representing 49 per cent of the total issued, paid-up and subscribed equity share capital of OPGC for USD 135 million. The OPGC operates 1,740 MW thermal power plant at Banharpalli in Jharsuguda district, Odisha. This plant is the mainstay of the Odisha state for base load power supply and amongst the lowest-cost power generated in the state. The supercritical capacity of 1,320 MW is a recently commissioned modern plant with low carbon footprint. The plant has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) valid for 25 years with the state owned off taker GRIDCO and sources fuel from a nearby captive mine. The Government of Odisha holds the balance 51 per cent stake in OPGC.The acquisition also marks APL's foray into Odisha state, and it demonstrates the Adani Group''s long-term commitment to develop and operate high quality infrastructure in the state, it said. AES and Adani Group shall continue to partner to facilitate the delivery of renewables and energy storage in India, it added. The Transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals including compliance with applicable requirements in relation to the Government of Odisha and the receipt of regulatory approvals such as Competition Commission of India and Reserve Bank of India, it added.
