A five-year-old boy lost his life and another boy of the same age got injured in a tragic accident involving a car on Sunday, as reported by the police. The victim has been identified as Aarav. The incident happened when the children were playing in front of their home in <keyword id="579020" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="murugeshpalya" source="Orion">Murugeshpalya</keyword> earlier on Sunday morning around 10.30 am. The accused, who is reportedly around 18 years old, was cleaning the car outside his house with his father. He allegedly pressed the accelerator pedal accidentally as he starting the vehicle. The lurched forward quickly with immense force, causing damage to multiple parked vehicles on the road and hitting the children who were playing in the locality, as per local media <a href="https://www.etvbharat.com/en/!state/bengaluru-tragedy-5-year-old-dies-after-teenager-accidentally-runs-car-over-him-enn24051203594" data-type="tilCustomLink">reports</a>. Neighbours quickly came to assist in moving the children to the hospital. Unfortunately, Aarav, an UKG student, was unable to survive and passed away before reaching the hospital. According to police sources, the other boy named Dhanaraj, who has suffered injuries and a fracture, is currently receiving medical treatment. As per reports, he is the son of a bank security guard named Lokesh, originally from Raichur. As per media reports, the vehicle carried a police sticker and the accused boy is reportedly the younger son of a local head constable. Jeevan Bhima Nagar Traffic Police have detained the youth who is accused. The police have registered a case and mentioned that further investigations are ongoing. A teenager accidentally hits the accelerator pedal, and a five-year-old boy loses his life in a tragic incident in Bengaluru

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) : As Delhi faces another tryst with air pollution, a nine-year-old climate activist, Licypriya Kangujam has appealed the government to declare health emergency in Delhi, emphasising that people are choking due to the noxious air. The national capital has been recording severe category air quality since the last five days due to an increase in stubble burning and unfavourable wind speed. Delhi's air quality index stood at 474 micrograms per cubic meter at noon, almost touching the hazardous category. "I would like to appeal to everyone to not use firecrackers to celebrate Diwali, because it creates a lot of noise and air pollution which is very dangerous for our health. Millions of children are dying every year due to the air pollution crisis," said Licypriya Kangujam, holding a placard which read "Declare health emergency in Delhi. We are choking!" Kangujam, who is also the founder of 'The Child Movement', has always been on the forefront of the fight against air pollution. Last month, she and 12-year old activist Aarav Seth were briefly detained by the police for protesting against the rising air pollution outside Parliament House. "I am fighting to save our planet and future. Please celebrate Diwali by not using firecrackers. If we are all together, we will fight this air pollution. We can make a change if we are together," Kangujam further said. Speaking to IANS, Aarav Seth said: "Enough has been said and done for saving the environment. Now is the time to take action and to ensure clean air for us and generations to come." On a brighter note, the National Green Tribunal on Monday imposed a total ban on sale or use of all kinds of firecrackers in the National Capital Region from November 9 to November 30. The direction also apply to all cities and towns where the air quality during November fell under the 'poor' and above categories. A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel emphasised that citizens are entitled to breathe fresh air which right cannot be defeated on the ground that enforcement of such right will lead to closing of such business activity. Meanwhile, Delhi's neighbouring regions - Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Noida and Greater Noida -- are also logging severe quality of air. Gurugram and Greater Noida's air quality remained the worst amongst all, with air quality of 484 and 483 micrograms per cubic meter, respectively. According to Ministry of Earth Science's System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research, "Low dispersion condition continues in Delhi region along with high fire-related intrusion, this has led to the accumulation of pollutants near the surface. 'Declare health emergency in Delhi,' 9-year-old climate activist requests govt as pollution spikes

By Deepak PatelNew Delhi, Apr 13 () With India under lockdown to stem the spread of coronavirus, drones are proving to be a crucial tool in the functioning of law enforcement authorities and other government agencies which are deploying these Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for carrying out surveillance, sanitisation and to reach out to people, minimising the risk of infection for their personnel.While Gujarat Police is using 200 drones across the state to monitor people's movements, Delhi Police has deployed them to ensure people follow social distancing in Asia's largest fruit and vegetable wholesale market Azadpur Mandi. Municipal authorities in Madurai are utilising them to disinfect areas near the coronavirus wing of a city hospital.These are only a few examples of UAVs being used in the fight against coronavirus.However, government agencies aren't the only ones to tap into technology in these tough times, media organisations are also using drones to show people confined indoors the impact of the world's biggest lockdown."It is fair to assume that out of 20,000 drones registered with the government, about 450-500 drones are already being used all across India to assist different states and law enforcement agencies," Smit Shah, Director - Partnerships, Drone Federation of India (DFI) told .The DFI is an industry body that has companies like Asteria Aerospace, Quidich Innovation Labs, AutoMicroUAS, Aarav Unmanned Systems and Indrones as its members."Drone startups have come out and extended their support to the government on a no-cost basis. Most of the drone service providers are not charging for the services they are providing," Shah noted.India has remained under lockdown since March 25 to contain the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, which has so far infected 10,815 people and claimed 353 lives in the country.On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the lockdown, which was originally for 21 days, will be extended by 19 days to May 3 as the measure has produced a significant outcome in containing the infection.Shah said drones are being used for carrying out a host of tasks like surveillance to ensure that people are maintaining social distancing, spreading awareness about COVID-19 in densely populated areas, spraying disinfectants and checking people's temperature.During the initial days of the lockdown, drones were used by the Jammu and Kashmir administration to announce restrictions on movement of people in Srinagar's busy Lal Chowk.Delhi Police is also using drones to monitor people's movements in Ghazipur Mandi, which witnesses a steady stream of buyers throughout the day.The municipal corporation of Warangal in Telangana has collaborated with a private company, Binford Robotics, to deploy its UAVs for surveillance and spraying disinfectants in the city.According to experts, as the number of coronavirus cases in the country mounts, the use of the UAVs is also expected to rise.Ankit Mehta, co-chair of a FICCI committee on drones, told , "Right now, the need of the hour is that the Ministry of Home or state police departments should take a call on whether they need drones with megaphones as a reinforcement tool, otherwise their containment strategies won't work.""This is the time to go for mass procurement and leverage the entire drone production capability of the country. It will take us two-three weeks to start delivering," said Mehta, who is also the CEO of ideaForge, a drone manufacturing company.He called for stepping-up the use of drones."Containment zones are going to be around for a while, and they are going to extend because it is a contagious virus. What is required is 24x7 deployment of drones for surveillance to enforce containment and not sporadic usage."My estimate is that we have 640 districts. If about 2,000 drones are inducted, assuming that each district needs around 3 drones, we can enable a broad level of persistent surveillance in the major containment zones," he said.Mehta said several state police departments are already customers of ideaForge and they had procured surveillance drones well before the lockdown."Some of these departments, which were planning to place orders with us, have asked us to deliver drones quickly since the beginning of lockdown," he said.DFI's Shah, however, recommended incentivising the approximately 20,000 drone operators who are registered with the Ministry of Civil Aviation."This would be much more cost-effective for the governments as against procuring new drones at this time as that would involve management of equipment, training programmes and capacity building, which might not be feasible as of now," he said.For media organisations too drones are proving to be a boon at a time when many parts of the country have been sealed and are out of bounds for outsiders.Remote-controlled UAVs allow media organisations to shoot videos or click photographs and cover various aspects of the lockdown.For instance, The Times of India's Chennai supplement on Sunday posted online a 5-minute video, which was shot using drones, showing how the once-bustling city has come to a standstill during the lockdown.A senior executive of a news organisation said the media companies in India generally use "micro drones", which weigh between one to two kgs."The drones are registered with the central government. Before deploying them, a news organisation generally takes permission from the local police department," the executive said.News organisations also make sure that while recording a video, the drone does not enter any restricted areas like an airport's airspace, etc, the executive noted. Drones: The invincible frontline workers in India's fight against coronavirus

<ul><li>The government has proposed to set up a dedicated <keyword id="7243568" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="drone-corridor">drone corridor</keyword>, create drone ports and allow 100% foreign direct investment (FDI). </li><li>However, the Indian drone industry needs much more than regulations to fly. </li><li>Funding is a major challenge that startups face.</li></ul>From photography to now possibly e-commerce delivery, <keyword id="94769" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="drones">drones</keyword> have gone from “hyped and expensive” to now being legal in <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>. However, other than for recreation, they are hardly in use. Since their launch, drones have been used mostly for photography - wedding or travel. Even that had faced issues from authorities. Drones have just failed to take over the Indian skies, as expected, even after the Indian government declared them <a href="https://www.businesstoday.in/sectors/aviation/flying-drones-to-be-legal-in-india-from-december-1/story/281690.html">legal.</a> In 2016, the government announced a <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/economy/policy/drone-policy-2-0-india-pitches-for-optimum-utilisation-of-drones-3399661.html">new draft policy</a>, under which it has proposed to set up a dedicated drone corridor, create drone ports and allow 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) in manufacturing the remotely piloted aircraft in the country. The Indian government is also asking drone companies to <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/tech/drone-companies-asked-to-install-safety-chip-to-avoid-mishaps/articleshow/67581061.cms">install chips</a> in their drones, so that they can be disabled in case they go rogue. One of the most important use cases of drones was meant to be the Indian agriculture industry – from surveillance to crop health monitoring and treatment, which is still looked at only by a few startups. India’s <keyword id="2823175" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="drone-policy">drone policy</keyword> also looks into the optimum utilization of drones allowing them to be used for delivery of goods. This could be a big boost for the Indian e-commerce industry. Recently, food tech unicorn Zomato had acquired TechEagle innovation, a drone startup, which fuelled rumours that the company will soon be experimenting with aerial food delivery. “Drones will be an integral part of our lives be it for last mile delivery, security, 3D mapping, agriculture and several other use cases. Food delivery via drones will help reduce the last mile delivery leg and make the process more convenient and cost-effective. <keyword id="6370270" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="unmanned-aerial-vehicles">Unmanned aerial vehicles</keyword> will significantly mitigate the delivery time while also increasing the reach,” said Vikram Singh Meena, Founder, TechEagle. Even with all the ‘supposed’ encouragement from the government in the form of favourable regulation, there are many hurdles that grapple the Indian <keyword id="4005978" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="drone-startups">drone startups</keyword>. “Some of the key challenges which still exists is the timely certification of the drones, readiness by the manufacturers and democratization of the applications, ” said Vipul Singh, CEO and Co-founder, Aarav Unmanned Systems. “Research and Development ecosystem for drones in India is lagging way behind the global ecosystem.” Globally, Amazon declared in 2013 that it will be experimenting drone delivery which sent the entire world into a frenzy. However, cut to 2019 and the global e-retail giant is still <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6583693/Amazon-secretly-testing-delivery-drones-UK-countryside.html">‘testing’ </a>drone delivery. At this stage, Singh believes that Indian drone startup sector is still very small and needs extreme support from the government – which could come in in the form of a drone VC fund, more pilot projects, skill development programs, financial support for working capital, and expedited development of certification and testing centers, among others. He added that with the introduction of regulation, on one hand most of the demands by both the government and private enterprises are going to scale up. India has over 40,000 drones, but where are they really?

They haven’t learnt to speak yet but they have conveyed their message through a petition. In first-of-its-kind petition, three infants have moved the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=supreme+court">Supreme Court</a> seeking ban on <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=firecrackers">firecrackers</a> as festivals like Dussehra and Diwali are approaching. 
 
"Our lungs have not yet fully developed and we cannot take further pollution through bursting of crackers," said three infants in their petition before the Apex Court. 
 
Two six-month-olds, Arjun Gopal and Aarav Bhandari, and 14-month-old Zoya Rao Bhasin have demanded their right to clean air guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution and asked it to take stringent steps to stop <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Delhi+pollution">pollution</a>. 
 
The Supreme Court rules permit minors to file <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=petitions">petitions</a> for the protection of their fundamental rights through their parents and guardians who term themselves as 'next friends'. 
 
The infants have also asked measures to check pollution hazards like burning crop residues, polluting vehicles and open waste disposal. 
 
"Studies show that Indian citizens have 30% lower lung capacity than Europeans, and that children are the worst affected, as their lungs have not yet fully developed and their systems are vulnerable. In Delhi, a majority of the pollution is caused by over 500 million tonnes of crop residue burnt annually in neighbouring areas, by polluting trucks that pass through the city during the night, road dust and pollution from industries. To add to this, the smoke from bursting of crackers in the months of October and November during the festivals of Dussehra and Diwali virtually clogs the atmosphere, substantially increases the pollution level and magnifies the risk of contracting lung diseases." 
 
They accused the government of lethargic attitude towards arresting pollution in the capital, saying the machinery does little to protect citizens, especially infants and children, from the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=toxic+air">long-term toxic effects</a> of deadly pollution enveloping the capital city.
