Speaking on the occassion, Sehgal, Miss India Delhi 2019, said she was "inspired by the honest governance of Chief Minister <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword>" and therefore chose to join the AAP. For any nation to prosper, health and education are the two main pillars and there has been a "tremendous change" in these fields in the last few years under the leadership of Kejriwal, she said. "Inspired by the honest governance of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and hardwork of MLA Raghav Chadha, I chose to join the Aam Aadmi Party, and I feel that through clean politics, we can bring about a <keyword id="7207146" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="substantial-change">substantial change</keyword> in the world that we live in," Sehgal stated. Chadha inducted Sehgal into the AAP at Naraina Vihar Club in the presence of several residents. "I am delighted that the Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal instill confidence in young people to join politics and serve the people, and the AAP family is growing leaps and bounds with each passing day. I welcome Mansi into the AAP family," Chadha said. Sehgal is also a TedX speaker, trained engineer and an entrepreneur with her own startup, the party statement said. Miss India Delhi 2019 Mansi Sehgal joins Aam Aadmi Party

Aam Aadmi Party today welcomed <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> leader <keyword id="6356997" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Navjot-singh-sidhu">Navjot Singh Sidhu</keyword>'s decision to quit from <keyword id="48510" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Rajya-Sabha">Rajya Sabha</keyword> and opened its doors to the cricketerturned politician to join its ranks, signaling an imminent churning ahead of next year's Punjab Assembly polls. 
 Within minutes of Sidhu's resignation, <keyword id="6356115" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="AAP">AAP</keyword>'s Punjab convenor Sucha Singh Chhotepur and AAP's state incharge Sanjay Singh hailed Sidhu's "courageous" decision and said the party was "looking forward" to welcome him. AAP spokesperson Deepak Bajpai said Sidhu would be making an "announcement" soon, adding that the party is open to the joining of individuals who believe in honest politics.

Asked if Sidhu could be made AAP's chief ministerial candidate in case he decides to take the plunge, AAP's Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann said, "Whoever joins AAP, he is clearly told that it has to be unconditional." Sidhu, a former Lok Sabha MP from Amritsar, was convicted in a culpable homicide case in Patiala and is out on bail. Singh, a member of AAP's highest decision ­making body, Political Affairs Committee, tweeted, "Navjot Singh Sidhu has taken a courageous step by resigning as a BJP member from the Rajya Sabha. I welcome his decision." 
 Sidhu's decision came on a day AAP chief <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> is touring Punjab as part of the party's intense push to capture power in the northern state by defeating the incumbent SADBJP alliance and Congress in a triangular contest.

The Bharatiya Janata party was leading with seven out of seven seats in Delhi. Axis My India Exit Poll predictions forecast that <keyword id="6356115" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="AAP">AAP</keyword> might not score any seat in the capital of India where the party has fielded its candidates from all the 7 constituencies. Even in 2014 elections, the AAP could not secure a single seat in Delhi as the election proved a clean sweep for the BJP from the capital giving it all the 7 seats. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the AAP contested 432 seats out of 543. The party secured 4 seats among all of them. In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, AAP contested all 13 seats in Punjab. The <keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> is likely be invited by Lieutenant governor <keyword id="2029087" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Naseeb-Jung">Naseeb Jung</keyword> to form the government in Delhi, which has been under the President's rule since February. Jung has reportedly sought President <keyword id="6359124" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Pranab-Mukherjee">Pranab Mukherjee</keyword>'s nod to invite the single-largest party to form the government. 
 It may be noted that Delhi has been under President's Rule since February when <keyword id="6354944" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aam-Aadmi-Party">Aam Aadmi Party</keyword> leader Arvind Kejriwal resigned as the chief minister. The President is believed to have forwarded the Lieutenant Governor's letter to the Union Home Ministry for its opinion. 
 
The BJP, with 29 legislators, is the single-largest party in the Delhi Assembly. It had won 32 seats in the last year elections that gave a fractured verdict, but three of its members later won the Lok Sabha elections. 
 
The Aam Aadmi Party has 28 MLAs and it is the second-largest party.

Barely a year old, the <keyword id="6354944" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Aam-Aadmi-Party">Aam Aadmi Party</keyword> (or better known as the <keyword id="6356115" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="AAP">AAP</keyword>) has sent all the established political parties in Delhi into a tizzy and has managed to upset all the traditional political equations. Whether or not it will able to win a substantial number of seats in the <keyword id="6356117" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="40" keywordseo="Delhi-assembly">Delhi Assembly</keyword> elections is still a question, but its dramatic rise over the past one year is commendable. The way it has been able to capture the imagination of people, as well as its fair share of the limelight in the media, deserves appreciation. 
 
I see the AAP as a start-up which came into existence a year ago. Not every new political party is able to garner the kind of support that the AAP has managed to get in such a short period. So there might be something that the AAP did right, which helped it climb up the popularity charts in the run-up to Delhi Assembly elections. 
 
I have picked up five lessons which entrepreneurs can learn from the AAP. 
 
1. Identify and <keyword id="382268" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="40" keywordseo="leverage">leverage</keyword> a ‘Mega Trend’: Many business ideas succeed because they get aligned to the ‘trends’ and the ‘mega trends’. Speaking in a layman’s language, a ‘trend’ is something which has a considerable chunk of (growing) audience. In a trend, a business enterprise can expect to find new customer segments wanting to be ‘serviced’. An <keyword id="6359301" type="POSITION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Entrepreneur">entrepreneur</keyword>, who aligns himself to a trend, has more chances of success than someone who is not ‘trending along’. 
 
The AAP identified a common man’s ‘angst against corruption’ and ‘revolt against stagnation’ as a trend and aligned itself to it. It tried to build support on this public sentiment and managed to get a lot of ‘buyers’ for its ideas. 
 
2. Ideate around a gap: Once you have aligned to a trend, you need to ‘position’ yourself. The ‘position’ of a service or product finds its roots in a gap in the existing ecosystem. For example, in the current trend of online retail, an entrepreneur might find a gap where the consumers are not getting their products/services from the existing e-retailers. That offers a very fertile ground to root your idea and position it accordingly. 
 The AAP found a gap – it found that the current political parties are not representing the ‘common man’. So it ideated around this gap and positioned itself as the <keyword id="6453562" type="POSITION" weightage="40" keywordseo="representative">representative</keyword> of the Aam <keyword id="311627" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aadmi">Aadmi</keyword> or the common man. 
 
3. Market your idea well: Just identifying an idea is not enough. The customers and your first employees have to be interested either in you or in your ‘story’. One has to market the idea well to get others along. This is because the first employees, as well as your first customers, take a leap of faith when they opt for you. Take a note – you don’t hire the first employees, you sell yourself to them. They ‘buy’ you. From there, you keep building on the audience. Thus, marketing your idea well is extremely important. 
 
The AAP did a commendable job in getting its story to the world. It extensively used the social media and other channels to get its idea across. That, in turn, helped it getting in place the ‘core team’ and its initial customers. Once that was in place, the growth engine took off and kept the audience growing. 
 
4. Get the right team: Once the idea is in place, you have the core team and the first customers are in line, you cannot afford to get the ‘execution’ wrong. For a perfect execution, get the perfect team in place. Many brilliant ideas have failed because they were not ‘executed’ well. Many simple ideas worked just fine because they were executed perfectly. However, not every start-up can get the perfect team in place and employees do make mistakes. But your team should ‘own up’ to their mistakes and be ready to try and remove all imperfections. 
 
That’s exactly what the AAP did. It got members from all walks of life – inexperienced, but ready to toil it out. 
 
5. Grow and evolve: Growth and evolution are two aspects of a start-up that should go hand in hand. No business plan works the way it was conceived. There will be changes in the plan. The start-up might have to completely overhaul its initial idea. It might have to pivot. Not once, not twice, but many times over. An entrepreneur needs to learn as he moves forward and incorporate the learning into the growth path of his venture and evolve from strength to strength. 
 
The AAP started as a novice political outfit and had its fair share of pitfalls. But it evolved along the way and incorporated the same into its growth. The party went ahead and dropped a few candidates at the last moment when it found out there were criminal charges against those. Committing a mistake is not an issue. But not rectifying it, will lead to one.

Five Lessons Entrepreneurs Can Learn From Aam Aadmi Party

The <keyword id="6354944" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="aam-aadmi-party">Aam Aadmi Party</keyword> (<keyword id="6356115" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="AAP">AAP</keyword>) on Wednesday won four out of five seats in the municipal bypolls in Delhi. The <keyword id="1575" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Congress">Congress</keyword> managed to win one seat, while the ruling <keyword id="58687" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharatiya-Janata-Party">Bharatiya Janata Party</keyword> (<keyword id="14666" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword>) failed to get any. The AAP secured two seats in East Delhi (<keyword id="2054040" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kalyanpuri">Kalyanpuri</keyword> and Trilokpuri municipal wards) and two in North Delhi (Rohini and Shalimar Bagh). Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national president Avirnd Kejriwal congratulated the party workers for the win. He tweeted, "People in Delhi have once again voted for work. Congratulations to all. People were fed up with 15 years' rampant corruption of BJP in <keyword id="55093" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="MCD">MCD</keyword>. Now people want to hand over MCD to AAP." AAP's national spokesperson and MLA Raghav Chadha tweeted, "AAP wins semi final decisively, with roughly one year to go for MCD finals in 2022. It is time for Delhiites to put an end to the 15 year corruption plagued rule of BJP in MCD. Rajya Sarkar mein bhi Kejriwal, MCD mein bhi Kejriwal, Phir chalegi double engine ki Kejriwal sarkar". Polling was conducted on February 28 at 327 polling stations and 26 candidates were in the fray. Voting for the five municipal wards was recorded 50.86 per cent. Out of total 2,42,414 eligible voters, 1,23,299 people had casted their votes on Sunday. Kalyanpuri, one of the three municipal wards under the east civic body recorded the highest vote turnout with 59 per cent followed by Trilokpuri with 55.95 per cent and Chauhan Banger ward with 55.60 per cent. Two other municipal wards under North civic body -- Rohini C recorded 44.58 per cent and Shalimar Bagh saw the lowest share of votes The five wards where bypolls were conducted included Rohini C and Shalimar Bagh under North civic body, Trilokpuri, Kalyanpuri and Chauhan Banger under East Delhi Corporation. Shalimar Bagh ward is reserved for women; Trilokpuri and Kalyanpuri are reserved for SC category. MCD bypoll results: Aam Aadmi Party wins 4 wards, BJP nil

With <keyword id="6356117" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-assembly">Delhi Assembly</keyword> elections just two weeks away, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has promised each and every household that it will slash their electricity bill by 50% if the party is voted to power. 
 It seems that the BJP has been highly inspired by the announcement that the <keyword id="6354944" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aam-Aadmi-Party">Aam Aadmi Party</keyword> (AAP) made in December 2014. At that time, the <keyword id="1727470" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal-led-party">Arvind Kejriwal-led party</keyword> had said that it would provide free water along with 50% reduction in electricity bill to every household if voted to power. 
 Now, the <keyword id="152754" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP-party">BJP party</keyword> too has hoardings, showing photographs of <keyword id="71" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prime-Minister">Prime Minister</keyword> <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> and BJP's chief ministerial candidate <keyword id="6354361" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kiran-Bedi">Kiran Bedi</keyword> across Delhi, wherein the party has promised to cut down power tariff by 50% by providing LED bulbs at cheap rates. Not to forget, in the last Assembly elections, the party had promised to reduce electricity bill by 30%. 
 
In the last elections, one of the main promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party was reduction in electricity bill; and this played a key role in helping the AAP form the government in Delhi. 
 
Now, the BJP doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned to win the Delhi Assembly elections. Even if they have to go AAP way it doesn’t matter, as everything is fair in this ‘war to retain power’.
