In a bid to expand its connectivity, the Airport Authority of India (<keyword id="47439" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aai">AAI</keyword>) will be marketing 29 airports in the country to international airlines participating in <keyword id="2530577" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="World-Route-Development-Forum">World Route Development Forum</keyword> that is being held in Chicago between 20th and 23rd September. 
	 
	The airports that AAI plans to develop, in order to market among the international airlines, include both domestic and international airports. These airports include Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Leh, Srinagar, Varanasi (Banaras), Bhubaneswar, Gaya, Kolkata, Port Blair, Ranchi, Raipur, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Indore, Goa, Pune, Surat, Chennai, Coimbatore, Calicut, Madurai, Mangalore, Trivandrum, Trichy and Visakhapatnam. 
	 
	The apex body of airports has held one-on-one meetings with the carriers and has an exclusive stand at the forum. “The airport-specific brochures brought out by AAI on the occasion included salient features of the airports, catchment areas they belong to, aerodrome reference code, tourist attractions and aviation and tourism potential,” said the ministry in a statement. 
	 
	The ministry added that AAI plans to come up with no-frills airports to enhance air connectivity as well as facilitate availability of infrastructure in the sector, which will ensure smooth air operations across airports in the country. 
	 
	“Government of India is focusing and pushing for development of airport infrastructure in tier-III cities. AAI will have to play a key role in implementation and execution of no-frill airports in the country. As per the estimates, about 50 such airports are on the anvil. The five airports included in Phase-I are Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh, Jharsuguda in Odisha, Hubli and Belgaum in Karnataka and Kishangarh in Rajasthan,” added the ministry. 
	 
	The apex body has been participating World Route Development Forum for the past six years. AAI has 125 airports which consist of 21 international airports domestic airports, 7 customs airports (4 civil enclaves) and 19 other civil enclaves. Among the international airports, AAI has 3 civil enclaves and 3 joint ventures. 
	 
	Currently, Indian airports, on the domestic front, handle nearly 122 million passengers while 47 million international passengers. The airports expected to handle 217 million domestic and 76 million international passengers by 2020.

Low-cost carrier <keyword id="6358032" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="spicejet" source="Orion">SpiceJet</keyword> has entered into a full and final settlement with the <keyword id="54875" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="airports-authority-of-india" source="Orion">Airports Authority of India</keyword> (<keyword id="47439" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="aai" source="Orion">AAI</keyword>) and cleared all outstanding principal dues of the airport operator. With this, SpiceJet will no longer remain on "cash and carry" at AAI-run airports across the country and revert to advance payment mechanism for daily flight operations. According to the airline's spokesperson, SpiceJet's ability to clear the pending dues reflects the airline's improved cash flow in recent times. "In another big boost for the airline, AAI will release SpiceJet's Rs 50 crore bank guarantee following the airline clearing all its principal dues. This will result in additional liquidity for the airline," said the airline. SpiceJet has flown with the highest passenger load factor in the Indian skies for a record seven years. Starting April 2015, the airlines has recorded the highest occupancy among all Indian domestic airlines - a feat unparalleled in global aviation. The airline also holds the envious distinction of having flown with a Passenger Load Factor (PLF) of more than 90 per cent for a record 58 consecutive months. The airline's domestic network covers the length and breadth of the country with it operating to 51 domestic destinations. Pioneer of the regional connectivity scheme, SpiceJet is the country's largest regional player helping connect the remotest parts of the country by air. The airline's focus on providing direct flight connectivity to regional hubs not only ensures better connectivity, it also has a cascading effect on tourism and economic activity in the region. Spicejet clears all outstanding principal dues of AAI

Budget airline <keyword id="6356167" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="GoAir">GoAir</keyword> has managed to get a reprieve from the Airports Authority of India (<keyword id="47439" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Aai">AAI</keyword>) after paying some of its dues. The AAI had earlier warned the airline that it would lose credit facilities if it did not pay the outstanding dues. 
 
According to media reports, GoAir has paid Rs 5 crore and it still has to pay Rs 35 crore more. The airline said that it would soon pay off all its dues. “As agreed with AAI, we have already reduced our outstanding through some payments. Additional amounts will be paid shortly,” GoAir said in a statement.

The Mumbai-based low-cost carrier operates its flights across 22 destinations and it has 19 Airbus A320s in its fleet.

GoAir Partially Pays Airport Authority’s Dues, Gets Temporary Reprieve

Not all is gloomy for airport operator Airport Authority of India (<keyword id="47439" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aai">AAI</keyword>) this Christmas. The airport operator has witnessed its revenues from non-aeronautical operations surge by 52% in the past three years. 
	 
	“The non-aeronautical revenue of AAI due to the effort and utilization of various avenues had increased from Rs 819.10 crores in 2010-11 to Rs 1,241 crores in 2013-14 making a growth of about 52% in 3 years,” said Dr Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Civil Aviation in the Lok Sabha. 
	 Non-aeronautical operations of the AAI include duty-free shops, operating Express Courier terminal as well as Common User Cargo Terminal. “AAI had already introduced various new concepts to increase the non-aeronautical potential like introduction of master concessionaire in the field of food and beverages, <keyword id="1422844" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Duty-Free-Shops">Duty free shops</keyword> and advertisement, Express Courier Terminal and Common User Cargo Terminal,” added Dr Sharma. 
	 The AAI has been aiming to strategically increase its revenues from non-core businesses over the years and has also increased the area allotted for such services by over 10% every year. For instance, the airport operator increased the area allocated for non aeronautical services from 23,119 square meter (sqm) in 2010-11 to 42,996 sqm in 2013-14 at the <keyword id="63145" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="chennai-airport">Chennai airport</keyword>. 
	 “Similarly, at <keyword id="47933" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kolkata-airport">Kolkata Airport</keyword>, the area under non-aeronautical services has been increased from 49,668 sqm to 6,00,029 sqm in 2013-14. In case of Trivandrum Airport, the increase in non-aeronautical areas is from 3,217 sqm in the year 2010-11 to 4,029 sqm in the year 2013-14,” stated Dr Sharma.

Mumbai, Mar 9 () Four AAI-run airports have been adjudged among the best aerodromes in the world, winning 10 awards in four different categories at the 2019 ASQ awards.ASQ is a globally established programme that measures passengers' satisfaction while travelling through an airport. Airports Council International (ACI), which is an independent agency of airport operators, carries out international benchmarking of aerodromes."Four AAI airports -- Chandigarh, Mangaluru, Trivandrum and Lucknow -- have been adjudged the best in the world in recently announced 2019 ASQ awards. These airports won 10 awards in four categories," Airports Authority of India (AAI) said in a release on Monday.The survey measures passengers' satisfaction across 34 key performance indicators that includes eight major categories such as access, check-in, security, airport facilities, food and beverage, retail, airport environment and arrival services.The four categories in which these airports bagged the best airport awards were size and region, environment and ambience, customer service and infrastructure and facilitation, as per the AAI.It was carried out at around 356 airports across North America, Latin America and Caribbean, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia.The survey results are monitored by airports tariff regulator AERA, NITI Aayog and civil aviation ministey, it added. India’s Civil Aviation Minister, <keyword id="6356597" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="suresh-prabhu">Suresh Prabhu</keyword>, said that three-fourths of the airports handled by Airports Authority of India (AAI) were running in loss in fiscal 2017-18. Nearly three-quarters of airports in India ran a loss last year

	The government-run body also plans to hold a meeting with various state governments once the draft of civil <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=aviation+">aviation </a>policy is finalised to discuss airport requirements there going forward, AAI Chairman RK Srivastava told reporters on the sidelines of an aviation conference here.
 <keyword id="113134" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Airports-Council-International">Airports Council International</keyword> (ACI) in association with International Civil Aviation Organisation has organised here a two-day conference on the theme "Investing in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Airports">Airports</a>- Economic Oversight and Regulations" to discuss <keyword id="127781" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="sustainable-growth">sustainable growth</keyword> for the airports globally. 

	Srivastava said besides development of new regional airports a number of the existing airports including Pune, Guwahati, Trichy, Jammu, Srinagar and Patna, among others, would soon reach optimum capacity and would have to be expanded to meet the increased demand.
 All this will require an <keyword id="6355120" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="investment">investment</keyword> of $12 billion over the next seven years, Srivastava said. He said that part of these <keyword id="6356305" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="funds">funds</keyword> will come through internal accruals and part of it will be raised through the market. 

	"We will have to go to the market to raise funds from the third year of the seven year period," he said.

Kolkata, Apr 25 () The Archery Association of India (AAI) on Saturday said it is in touch with the Sports Ministry to facilitate the treatment of ailing three-time Olympian Limba Ram, who is suffering from a neuro-degenerative condition. The 47-year-old has developed swelling in both his legs after his injections could not be administered due to the ongoing nationwide lockdown to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. Limba and his wife Merian Jenny are staying at the residential hostel of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi for more than a year. "I informed the AAI president (Arjun Munda) immediately after knowing about his condition. Our team has already got in touch with them and we are making the necessary arrangements," AAI secretary general Pramod Chandurkar told . Limba, who came close to winning a bronze medal at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, was being treated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) before the lockdown. He has now been referred to the GB Pant Hospital. "But it's not feasible for them to go there and get him treated regularly so we have requested the sports ministry to make alternative arrangements for the treatment of Limba," he added. Limba was also a successful coach having guided India to three gold, one silver and four bronze medals at the New Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. With him as coach, the Indian recurve archers including Deepika Kumari held the number one rankings. Limba's contract was not renewed after India's failure in London 2012 Olympics and it has been a downward spiral for him since then. TAP AHAH
