Low-cost carrier <keyword id="6358032" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="spicejet" source="Orion">SpiceJet</keyword> has entered into a full and final settlement with the <keyword id="54875" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="airports-authority-of-india" source="Orion">Airports Authority of India</keyword> (<keyword id="47439" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="aai" source="Orion">AAI</keyword>) and cleared all outstanding principal dues of the airport operator. With this, SpiceJet will no longer remain on "cash and carry" at AAI-run airports across the country and revert to advance payment mechanism for daily flight operations. According to the airline's spokesperson, SpiceJet's ability to clear the pending dues reflects the airline's improved cash flow in recent times. "In another big boost for the airline, AAI will release SpiceJet's Rs 50 crore bank guarantee following the airline clearing all its principal dues. This will result in additional liquidity for the airline," said the airline. SpiceJet has flown with the highest passenger load factor in the Indian skies for a record seven years. Starting April 2015, the airlines has recorded the highest occupancy among all Indian domestic airlines - a feat unparalleled in global aviation. The airline also holds the envious distinction of having flown with a Passenger Load Factor (PLF) of more than 90 per cent for a record 58 consecutive months. The airline's domestic network covers the length and breadth of the country with it operating to 51 domestic destinations. Pioneer of the regional connectivity scheme, SpiceJet is the country's largest regional player helping connect the remotest parts of the country by air. Spicejet clears all outstanding principal dues of AAI

This six-year-old business that started in a 200 square feet kitchen in Mumbai is run by 47-year-old Geeta Patil with two 21-year-old partners – her son Vinit Patil, and his friend Darshil Savla. While Geeta Patil, who runs the eponymous business, has been making and selling snacks ever since her husband lost his job in 2016, it’s the younger partners who gave it a digital spin. Vineet Patil and Savla are college dropouts, who at one point, set up and ran a small IT services business. They set up <a href="https://patilkaki.com/">a website for Patil Kaki </a>helping scale up the business from 15-20 orders a day to around 3,000 orders monthly, as per <a href="https://www.thebetterindia.com/286270/mom-sells-authentic-maharashtrian-food-in-mumbai-pune-earns-crores/">reports</a>. Her chaklis, modaks, chivdas, puran poli, and even healthy snacks like makhanas which are now well-packaged well, branded, and available online – generated sales to the tune of ₹1 crore in the first five months of FY23 – as of August 2022 when the Shark Tank episodes were recorded. They hope to end the financial year with sales to the tune of ₹3 crore. “They are the emerging faces of New India. Soon after, Aman Gupta, the co-founder of boAt, trumped it by doubling his offer — ₹40 lakh for 5% equity, valuing it at ₹8 crore. Lenskart’s co-founder Peyush Bansal and Shaadi.com’s founder Anupam Mittal then made an offer that Kaki couldn’t refuse — ₹40 lakh for 4% equity that valued it at ₹10 crore. She had been making and selling food out of passion before 2016. The first order came from a family in Khar. The best part is that even today, we get orders from them regularly,” shared Geeta with The Better India. Slowly, she started getting orders from offices too. However, it was the pandemic that pushed her to prepare and sell dry snacks too. “We started by serving breakfast at the BMC office. Impressed by our cooking, the employees got a letter from the ward office, allowing us to serve them at the office. However, when the lockdown started, the problems started again. That’s when I started with snacks like chakli, chivda, etc,” said Patil on the show. To cater to the growing business, the team took up a 1,200 sq ft space in Santacruz. With no relief in sight despite coal stocks running critically low and production disruptions looming across the Indian aluminium sector, the Aluminium Association of India (<keyword id="47439" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="aai" source="Orion">AAI</keyword>) has approached the Ministry of Coal, urging the immediate resumption of adequate coal rakes for the highly power-intensive Aluminium industry. In its representation to the Ministry, the AAI has lauded the combined efforts by the Ministry of Coal and Coal India Limited in reviving domestic coal production, which has helped ease the coal supply crisis for the Power Sector. The steps undertaken by the Ministry increased the overall daily rakes dispatched from 242 rakes/day in September 2021 to 289 rakes/day in December 2021. This has drastically strengthened the coal stocks of the Power Sector to around 10 days, a marked improvement from a mere 2-3 days in the months of September-October last year. However, this has come at enormous cost to the <keyword id="629340" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Captive-Power-Plants" source="Orion">Captive Power Plants</keyword> (CPP)-based industry and the worst impacted is the Indian aluminium industry, which continues to see depleting coal stocks of only 3-4 days, abysmally low compared to the prescribed level of 15 days for the sector. Struggling to cope with this prolonged crisis since the second quarter of this fiscal year, the AAI has now sought the Ministry's support to ensure adequate supplies to the CPPs by earmarking at least 25-30 coal rakes per day to ensure viable industry operations. The need for the CPPs is especially urgent, given that Aluminium production is a continuous process that requires huge volumes of uninterrupted quality power supply. This quantum can only be met only through the in-house CPPs set up by all the aluminium smelters plants to meet this specific requirement. Accordingly, the industry has established Captive Power Plants of 9,400 MW capacity (comprising 34 per cent of the cumulative thermal CPPs capacity domestically) to supply continuous power for Aluminium operations. Even though the Government has reiterated that there is now an improved availability of coal in the country overall, the non-availability of rakes for the non-regulated sectors remains a major concern. Curtailing coal supplies to Captive Power Plants (CPPs) has directly resulted in a coal crunch situation for the Aluminium Sector. Any power interruption in an aluminium smelting operation for more than 2 hours can lead to the freezing of molten aluminium within the smelting pots, which takes a minimum of 6 months to fix, and then almost a year to once again begin yielding the desired metal output, causing enormous production, cost and supply disruptions. With the continued crisis, it will take over a year's time to clear the backlog of rakes, and for the CPPs to build and maintain adequate coal stocks for sustainable operations. The crisis further aggravates with the last-minute cancellation of coal auctions for NRS, giving no relief for the domestic industry to secure coal for manufacturing and CPP-based industries. With the ongoing revival of the economy and increased post-pandemic industrial activity, the CPP-based industries are highly dependent on uninterrupted coal supplies which is vital for sustainable operations and the continued cost-competitiveness of power intensive industries vis-a-vis global players. Any production curtailment by this sector will have cascading effect on consumption and downstream supply chain, thereby adversely impacting the nation's GDP growth. The AAI representation has gone on to highlight that since August 2021, the Non-Regulated Sector has been facing uncertainties in securing sufficient coal rakes for continued operations, with supplies limited to just 40-50 per cent of the required coal. This has led to a backlog of over 6000 coal rakes as most of the available coal and rakes are being diverted to the Power Sector as "Priority Coal Supplies", even despite their coal inventory situation drastically improving. Coal shortage now at alarming levels, say aluminium producers

Mumbai, Mar 9 () Four AAI-run airports have been adjudged among the best aerodromes in the world, winning 10 awards in four different categories at the 2019 ASQ awards.ASQ is a globally established programme that measures passengers' satisfaction while travelling through an airport. Airports Council International (ACI), which is an independent agency of airport operators, carries out international benchmarking of aerodromes."Four AAI airports -- Chandigarh, Mangaluru, Trivandrum and Lucknow -- have been adjudged the best in the world in recently announced 2019 ASQ awards. These airports won 10 awards in four categories," Airports Authority of India (AAI) said in a release on Monday.The survey measures passengers' satisfaction across 34 key performance indicators that includes eight major categories such as access, check-in, security, airport facilities, food and beverage, retail, airport environment and arrival services.The four categories in which these airports bagged the best airport awards were size and region, environment and ambience, customer service and infrastructure and facilitation, as per the AAI.It was carried out at around 356 airports across North America, Latin America and Caribbean, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia.The survey results are monitored by airports tariff regulator AERA, NITI Aayog and civil aviation ministey, it added. Kolkata, Apr 25 () The Archery Association of India (AAI) on Saturday said it is in touch with the Sports Ministry to facilitate the treatment of ailing three-time Olympian Limba Ram, who is suffering from a neuro-degenerative condition. The 47-year-old has developed swelling in both his legs after his injections could not be administered due to the ongoing nationwide lockdown to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. Limba and his wife Merian Jenny are staying at the residential hostel of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi for more than a year. "I informed the AAI president (Arjun Munda) immediately after knowing about his condition. Our team has already got in touch with them and we are making the necessary arrangements," AAI secretary general Pramod Chandurkar told . Limba, who came close to winning a bronze medal at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, was being treated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) before the lockdown. He has now been referred to the GB Pant Hospital. "But it's not feasible for them to go there and get him treated regularly so we have requested the sports ministry to make alternative arrangements for the treatment of Limba," he added. Limba was also a successful coach having guided India to three gold, one silver and four bronze medals at the New Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. With him as coach, the Indian recurve archers including Deepika Kumari held the number one rankings. Mumbai, Feb 14 ( ) Adani Group on Friday inked agreements with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the management, operations and development of Ahmedabad, Mangaluru and Lucknow airports. "Today, as we sign the concession agreements for Mangaluru, Lucknow &amp; A'bad with the AAI, its the beginning of another historic journey catering to India's exponential airport infra demands," Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani said in a tweet. In 2018, the government decided to privatise airports at Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, and Guwahati. It was for operation, management and development of these aerodromes through public-private partnership model. Hyderabad, Mar 13 (): Airports Authority of Indiais planning to raise about USD 300 million via the externalcommercial borrowing (ECB) route next fiscal to fund its capexplans aiming at doubling the current passenger-handlingcapacity of 345 million passengers per annum, a top officialof the PSU said on Friday. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of theongoing 'Wings India 2020,' an aviation-related event beingheld here, AAI chairman Arvind Singh said the airportsoperator would be spending Rs 5000 crore on capex for the nextfive years beginning this year. "We are thinking of going for external commercialborrowings (ECB) at lower rates to fund our plans. Plus we getfunds from the government of India under Udan scheme. They(Centre) have allotted Rs 4,500 crore to build airports underthe Udan scheme. We will be going for the ECBs next financialyear," Singh said.The first tranche would be USD 300 million. The boardhas approved (the ECB proposal) a month ago, he said.According to him, of the present 110 airports in thecountry, the AAI operates over 90.The PSU is in the process of upgrading some of theairports which are building some greenfield aerodromes.It is also in the process of converting underservedand unserved airports under the Udan scheme for which theCentre is extending financial assistance to make themoperational."We have made 48 of such airports operational in thelast three years. So to meet all these requirements we have avery huge capex plan. On an average, we are spending Rs 3,000crore to Rs 4,000 crore a year. From this year, we arestepping up it to Rs 5,000 crore per annum. Right now, we arecatering to 345 million passengers per annum," he said."We should be able to reach upto 700 or 750 millionpassengers by 2030," he said.Right now, there are 21 approved greenfield airportprojects in the country and five of them have been completed,he said. However, travel experts fear this would negatively impact the flight business as well as the tourism portfolio of India’s most preferred sea destination. As the flights go down in number, the air fares would definitely sky rocket. 
 "It is a big negative for airlines as well as travel and tourism sector in that area. Any reduction in capacity, when the market is growing, would lead to a spike in fares in and out of Goa. High fares might impact tourism in Goa too," <keyword id="332366" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sharat-Dhall">Sharat Dhall</keyword>, chief operating officer at Yatra-.com, India's second-largest online travel portal told ET. 
 "Aviation minister <keyword id="2128920" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ashok-Gajapathi-Raju">Ashok Gajapathi Raju</keyword> has written to Parrikar. The ministers are likely to sit together to discuss the issue," the senior aviation ministry official told the financial daily.
