The IPO is a mix of fresh issuance of equity shares worth Rs 750 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of up to 36 lakh equity shares by promoters, according to the draft red herring prospectus (<keyword id="19914966" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="DRHP" source="keywords">DRHP</keyword>). <br /><br />The OFS consists of up to 18 lakh equity shares each by Dhraksayani Sangamesh Nirani and Sangamesh Rudrappa Nirani. <br /><br />The company may consider raising Rs 150 crore under the pre-IPO placement round. Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="Orion">Narendra Modi</keyword> on Saturday emphasised the pressing need for global cooperation to combat climate change and fund the transition to sustainable energy systems. Speaking at the G20 Leaders' Summit's first session, <keyword id="6354642" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="modi" source="Orion">Modi</keyword> underscored the monumental financial requirements for an inclusive energy transition in the 21st century world to tackle climate change. <br /><br />"Keeping in mind the challenge of climate change, energy transition is a significant need of the 21st century world. Trillions of dollars are required for an inclusive energy transition. Naturally, developed countries play a very crucial role in this," he said. <br /><br />Prime Minister Modi commended the developed countries for their willingness to fulfil their commitment of USD 100 billion for climate finance for the first time. <br /><br />At the Copenhagen UN climate talks in 2009, developed countries had committed to providing USD 100 billion per year by 2020 to support developing countries in combating climate change. PM Modi calls for global effort on climate change, green finance at G20 Summit

India took less time to go from half to full electricity access than other major economies, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said on Monday.<br /><br />Just hours ahead of Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="Orion">Narendra Modi</keyword> inaugurating the three-day <keyword id="15806241" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="india-energy-week" source="Orion">India Energy Week</keyword> in Bengaluru to showcase India's rising prowess as an energy transition powerhouse, the IEA said the adoption worldwide of the kinds of actions and measures targeted by <keyword id="6360041" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="life" source="Orion">LiFE</keyword> (Lifestyle for Environment), including behavioural changes and sustainable consumer choices, would reduce the annual global carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2 billion tonnes in 2030.<br /><br />The LiFE initiative was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at COP26 in Glasgow in November 2021.<br /><br />It aims to encourage the adoption of sustainable lifestyles in India and internationally to tackle the challenges of environmental degradation and climate change.<br /><br />A new report, "LiFE Lessons From India", by the IEA looks at how India's G20 Presidency this year could strengthen the LiFE initiative internationally to help reduce emissions, energy bills, and inequalities in per capita energy consumption and emissions between countries.<br /><br />According to the LiFE initiative, the global adoption of such measures would also save consumers globally around $440 billion in 2030.<br /><br />LiFE measures can also help lower inequalities in energy consumption and emissions between countries. The reductions the measures could deliver in per capita carbon dioxide emissions in advanced economies by 2030 are three to four times greater than in emerging market and developing economies, it says.<br /><br />The report says already the third largest national market globally for renewables, India has recently seen the growth of consumer-centric solutions like distributed solar PV take off, with rooftop solar growing 30-fold in less than a decade.<br /><br />Supportive policies and awareness campaigns in India have also driven electric passenger vehicles to a market share of almost five per cent in 2022 - with sales tripling from 2021.<br /><br />India's example shows the importance of behavioural change and consumption choices in driving energy transitions.<br /><br />The IEA has analysed the impact of measures like those proposed by the LiFE initiative, such as buying an EV or taking public transport, as part of comprehensive energy transition strategies.<br /><br />IEA Executive Director <keyword id="293700" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="fatih-birol" source="Orion">Fatih Birol</keyword> told IANS, "India's G20 Presidency this year represents a unique opportunity to globalise the LiFE initiative -- providing a knowledge-sharing platform for other leading economies to realise the impact that LiFE's recommendations can have in the fight against climate change, air pollution and unaffordable energy bills.<br /><br />"Since the G20 makes up nearly 80 per cent of global energy demand, meaningful changes by its members can make a big difference."<br /><br />The International Monetary Fund estimates that India will be the world's third-largest economy by 2027, and India is already on course to become the most populous country this year.<br /><br />Its critical challenge is to ensure secure and affordable energy for growth while advancing its net-zero transition over the coming decades.<br /><br />To meet these challenges, India has embarked on a dynamic new phase in its energy transformation, which spans three broad areas.<br /><br />Firstly, it has launched important initiatives to bring down the prices and increase the supply of clean energy. These include a target of non-fossil fuel sources contributing to 50 per cent of India's power generation capacity by 2030; a <keyword id="12676485" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="national-green-hydrogen-mission" source="Orion">National Green Hydrogen Mission</keyword> with the ambition of establishing annual renewable hydrogen production of 5 million tonnes (Mt) by 2030; and biofuel mandates that target 30 per cent blending of ethanol in petrol by 2030.<br /><br />Secondly, India seeks to domesticate parts of the global supply chains that will be critical to its new energy economy. This includes the <keyword id="8870884" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="production-linked-incentive" source="Orion">Production Linked Incentive</keyword> (PLI) scheme that promotes the domestic manufacturing of solar PV, advanced batteries and electric vehicles.<br /><br />Thirdly, the government has focused on demand-side measures, including taking the first steps towards the creation of a national carbon market, an energy efficiency trading scheme for industries, incentivising the purchase of electric vehicles, bulk procurement of electric buses for public transport, standards and labelling of appliances, and most recently, the Lifestyles for Environment (LiFE) initiative that aims to nudge behaviours and individual consumption choices towards cleaner alternatives.<br /><br />These measures have immense potential but need global support. The IEA estimates that India will need $145 billion per year until 2030 in clean energy investment to put it on a path towards net-zero emissions by 2070. This is triple the current level of annual clean energy investment in India.

India's economy 10% more energy efficient than G20 average: IEA

State-owned <keyword id="20039950" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharat-Petroleum-Corporation" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Bharat Petroleum Corporation" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="Bharat Petroleum Corporation">Bharat Petroleum Corporation</keyword> plans to invest Rs 1.7 lakh crore over the next five years to grow its core oil refining and fuel marketing business as well as in 'future big bets' of <keyword id="20115883" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="petrochemicals" source="keywords">petrochemicals</keyword> and <keyword id="19895435" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="green-energy" source="keywords">green energy</keyword>, its chairman G Krishnakumar has said. At present, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (<keyword id="19908646" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="BPCL" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="BPCL" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="BPCL">BPCL</keyword>) owns about 14 per cent of India's oil <keyword id="20064251" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="refining-capacity" source="keywords">refining capacity</keyword> and about a quarter of the fuel retailing network. It plans to grow these businesses while foraying into newer areas. <br /><br />The firm is now implementing the first phase of a multi-decade aspirational journey in the form of '<keyword id="22826627" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="project-Aspire" source="keywords">Project Aspire</keyword>' - its five-year strategic framework that is based on two fundamental pillars - 'Nurturing the Core' and 'Investing in Future Big Bets', he said in the company's latest annual report. <br /><br />"Our mid-term strategy is on a continuum. While we remain committed to growing our core businesses, which include refining and marketing <keyword id="20037698" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="petroleum-products" source="keywords">petroleum products</keyword> and upstream, we are equally focused on our big bets comprising petrochemicals, gas, green energy, non-fuel retail, and digital. <br /><br />"Project Aspire, with a planned capex outlay of around Rs 1.70 lakh crore over five years, will enable us to create long-term value for our stakeholders while preserving our planet for future generations," he said. <br /><br />"A cornerstone of our long-term strategy, Project Aspire, with a Rs 1.70 trillion investment, marks the initial phase of our multi-decade odyssey to shape the energy of tomorrow. This, coupled with our robust balance sheet, fuels our ambition to lead the <keyword id="19951336" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="energy-transition" source="keywords">energy transition</keyword>." <br /><br />The company is targeting net zero carbon emissions from its operations by 2040. <br /><br />"BPCL has drawn a net-zero roadmap, which encompasses renewable power, green hydrogen, compressed biogas, carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS), efficiency improvement and the offsets procurements. This would require a phased capital outlay of approximately Rs 1 lakh crore till 2040, and the company is geared for the same," he said. <br /><br />The firm's bet on continuing investing in core businesses is based on the premise that India's booming economy will drive a 4-5 per cent annual increase in energy demand and petroleum product consumption. Also, the demand for major petrochemical products is expected to rise by 7-8 per cent annually. <br /><br />"This presents a strategic opportunity to expand refining capacity alongside the development of integrated petrochemical complexes," he said. <br /><br />BPCL is implementing new petrochemical projects at two of its three oil refineries. A Rs 49,000 crore ethylene cracker project is being implemented at the Bina refinery in Madhya Pradesh, alongside raising oil refining capacity from the current 7.8 million tonnes to 11 million tonnes annually by 2029. A polypropylene project is being set up at Kochi refinery in Kerala by 2027. <br /><br />"To meet the anticipated demand beyond our planned expansions in Bina and Kochi, we are actively evaluating options for setting up additional integrated refining and petrochemical capacities within the next 5-7 years," Krishnakumar said without disclosing either the investments or the location of such a project. <br /><br />Andhra Pradesh is being speculated as the likely site after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP and regional party TDP stormed to power in the state in recently concluded assembly elections. TDP has been demanding the implementation of a refinery-cum-petrochemical complex that was promised as part of the package when the state was split more than a decade back. <br /><br />"Our investment in the petrochemical project is consistent with our aspiration of becoming a dominant player in India's petrochemical growth story," Krishnakumar said. <br /><br />On energy transition, he said BPCL is targeting to build 2 gigawatts (GW) of <keyword id="19895602" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="renewable-energy" source="keywords">renewable energy</keyword> capacity by 2025 and 10 GW by 2035. <br /><br />"We are investing nearly Rs 1,000 crore to establish two 50 MW captive wind power plants in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, which will support our refineries in Mumbai and Bina." <br /><br />The firm is also investing around Rs 300 crore in 72 MWp of solar project in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. <br /><br />"Concomitantly, we are executing green hydrogen projects aligned with the National Green Hydrogen Mission. These projects include a 5 MW electrolyser plant at Bina refinery and a green hydrogen refuelling station with an indigenously developed electrolyser at Kochi," he noted. <br /><br />BPCL, he said, is committed to supporting the transition to electric mobility through a robust and accessible charging infrastructure. <br /><br />The company has installed over 3,000 charging stations, including fast chargers for cars and two-wheelers. 900 fast chargers are installed across 120 highway corridors, which helps address the range, discovery and time anxiety of electric vehicle (EV) owners. <br /><br />"Over the next five years, we aim to install 4-wheeler fast chargers at approximately 6,000 retail outlets across 400 highway corridors, prioritising high-traffic corridors like the Golden Quadrilateral and N-S/E-W highways," he said. <br /><br />On biofuels, he said BPCL sells petrol with 20 per cent ethanol blend at 4,279 out of its over 22,000 petrol pumps. <br /><br />It is also building compressed biogas plants using municipal solid waste to make gas that can be used as CNG in automobiles. <br /><br />The firm is also exploring partnerships in the arena. <br /><br />"These combined efforts, along with the upcoming commissioning of a bio-ethanol refinery, positions BPCL as a key player in India's transition to a greener fuel mix, creating a robust ecosystem for the adoption of cleaner fuels across the country," he added. <br /><br />BPCL is establishing a corporate venture capital fund to invest directly in promising startups. <br /><br />"In order to thrive in this complex and challenging business landscape, we will leverage our agility and focus on operational excellence to ensure continued success. Safety and reliability will remain our top priorities, guiding all our actions. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance," he added. <br /><br />He said the energy sector of India stands at an inflection point. <br /><br />"The nation has an ambitious vision of becoming a USD 30 trillion developed economy by 2047. 'Viksit Bharat @2047' will necessitate an almost fourfold increase in primary energy demand." <br /><br />India's exponential growth trajectory will propel it to a pivotal role in the global energy market, accounting for roughly 12 per cent of world energy consumption by 2047. <br /><br />"The key strategic objectives for India in the energy sector will entail significant expansion in refining capacities, raising the share of gas in the energy basket from about 6 per cent to 15 per cent, establishing leadership in petrochemical exports, and sharply reducing energy imports from current levels of 47 per cent to below 25 per cent by 2030 and to zero by 2047," he said. <br /><br />India is targeting 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity, sourcing half of its energy needs from renewables, reducing carbon emissions by 1 billion tonnes and lowering carbon intensity by 45 per cent by 2030 with the ultimate goal of net-zero emissions by 2070. <br /><br />"Building on its strong Indian energy presence, BPCL aspires to meet 7-10 per cent of the nation's primary energy demand by 2047," he said.

BPCL planning Rs 1.7 lakh crore spend to expand core business, new energy foray over next five years

Mumbai, Jan 23 () Engineering firm Tata Projects on Thursday said it has bagged four contracts worth Rs 6,000 crore in the oil and gas refinery sector in Odisha and Rajasthan.
<p> Of the four orders, three are from state-owned HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Ltd (HRRL) and one from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), the company said in a statement.
</p><p> BPCL's order is for its 2G bio-ethanol project in Bargarh, Odisha, with a proposed production capacity of 100 kilolitres per day of second-generation ethanol.
</p><p> The other three orders pertain to HRRL's upcoming greenfield refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in Rajasthan.
</p><p> The scope of these contracts includes work for crude and vacuum distillation unit (CDU-VDU), delayed coker unit with unsaturated LPG treating unit and vacuum gas oil hydrotreating unit and refinery.
</p><p> "As a leading engineering and technology company, we have a specialised division that executes construction of environmentally beneficial and challenging projects. Hence, we seek to undertake projects that improve the lives of communities and support national developmental objectives at the same time," Tata Projects Managing Director Vinayak Deshpande said.
</p><p> Tata Projects provides end-to-end solutions to set up power generation plants, power transmission and distribution systems, fully integrated rail and metro systems, commercial buildings and airports, chemical process plants, water and waste water management solutions, complete mining and metal purification systems.
</p> "Energy is an area wherein every country needs to focus since it directly affects the economic growth and welfare of citizens. Tata Projects bags Rs 6,000-crore orders in oil, gas refinery sector

<p>The World Bank just published its <em><a href="http://blogs.worldbank.org/prospects/node/1342">Commodity Market Outlook</a></em>.</p>
<p>"Most commodity prices are expected to ease marginally in 2013," they write. "[C]rude oil will average US$102/bbl in 2013, just 3 percent lower than in 2012. Agricultural commodity prices are also forecast to decline: <keyword id="6181" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Food">food</keyword> by 3.2 percent, beverages by 4.7 percent, and raw materials by 2.2 percent. Metal prices are expected to rise slightly but still average 14 percent lower than in 2011. Fertilizer prices are set to decline 2.9 percent, while precious metal prices will increase almost 2 percent."</p>
<p>Among other things, the report also examines what has driven food inflation, which has been on a tear in the last decade.</p>
<p>According to their econometric models, rising oil prices were the biggest driver followed by the stocks-to-use ratio, which is a measure of the supply-demand balance.</p>
<p>Other significant factors include protectionist trading policies, financial institutions adding commodities to their portfolios, weather, and diversion to biofuels (e.g. ethanol).</p>
<p>The World Bank's warning: most of the conditions that have driven food inflation are still in place.</p>

But since 2009 he has been ambassador for Bombay Sapphire.</p><p>Working out of the distillery's Empire Room, he teaches bartenders, distributors, and press everything they need to know about gin, and trains other ambassadors around the world.</p><p>"My job is really to drink gin and talk about gin," he told Business Insider.</p><p>With all of that experience, he also knows what not to do when it comes to the spirit.</p><p>Here are the mistakes people make when buying, ordering, and drinking gin, according to Carter.</p><h2>1. Drinking from the wrong glass - or using a straw</h2><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5adf367a19ee861e008b474b-2000/shutterstock619561679.jpg" border="0" alt="gin and tonic" data-mce-source="Marcel Kriegl / Shutterstock" data-link="https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/man-holding-glass-tonic-gin-619561679?src=f9kSIEDDxTmpDvP-Fn-PVQ-1-19"><p class="source"><span><a href="https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/man-holding-glass-tonic-gin-619561679?src=f9kSIEDDxTmpDvP-Fn-PVQ-1-19">Marcel Kriegl / Shutterstock</a></span></p></img></div><p></p></div></div><p>To make the most of a gin and tonic, you should be serving your drink in a balloon glass, according to Carter - and you shouldn't use a straw.</p><p>"In the UK, they're not the easiest thing to store in bars - under the shelves, they're quite big - so you can also use a burgundy red wine glass," he added.</p><p>Both glasses work because they channel the aroma towards the nose.</p><p>"90 to 95% of taste comes from what we smell," Carter said. "So much flavour comes from the aroma. That's why these glasses work so well - your nose is right in there."</p><p>He added that the company has banned straws from its drinks - mostly because of sustainability, but also because when you use a straw, your nose is so far away from the top of the glass you can't smell it.</p><h2>2. Adding lemon or lime slices to a G&amp;T</h2><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5adf34f119ee8624008b4745-2000/laverstoke%20a378.jpg" border="0" alt="Laverstoke A378" data-mce-source="Bombay Sapphire"><p class="source"><span>Bombay Sapphire</span></p></img></div><p></p></div></div><p>When you go to a bar and ask for a gin and tonic, they'll usually put a slice of lemon or lime in your drink - but more often than not, they've been sat around in water for some time, according to Carter.</p><p>"They're left for like a day and have gone brown on the edges and it just adds a real fusty, mustiness to it," he said. "What is that even adding?</p><p>"Just because we did it 10, 20, 30 years ago and our parents did it, doesn't mean we have to do it."</p><p>He said Bombay don't use lime or lemon in their gin. Instead, the drinks come with a fresh mint sprig and a ginger slice. "These two flavours pull on two of the botanicals in the gin," he said.</p><p>Last season, the company even used watercress in their gin and tonic.</p><p>"It's all about using local - it's what chefs have been doing for years and years, [so] there's no reason why we can't do it in the drinks industry."</p><h2>3. Assuming London Dry Gin comes from London</h2><p>"A big misconception is people think London Dry Gin is made in London - why would you not think that?" Carter said.</p><p>However, he explained that it's more of a style of gin - and the vast majority of London Dry Gins are made outside of London.</p><p>"A lot of it is on the label," he said. "It doesn't legally have to be made in London, it can literally be made anywhere in the world.</p><p>"The key point of difference is you're not allowed to add artificial flavourings or essences before, during, or after distillation.</p><p>"Distillation has to be clear, colourless... [it has to] start with the highest quality alcohol at 96% ABV and above, you're only allowed 5mg of methanol per hectalitre, and you're only allowed to add up to 0.1g of sugar per litre of alcohol (although you don't have to)."</p><h2>4. "That's food-grade, it's safe. They may have added artificial flavourings and essences afterwards, but they're not harmful."</p><p>He added that supermarket own-brand gins are what is called "cold-compounded gin," made in a stainless steel tank using alcohol with added natural or artifical flavourings and essences. It's stirred, infused for a few days, then water is added before it's bottled.</p><p>"It's very easy to make a lot of it," he said, adding that if a litre bottle is £14 at the store, £12.30 of that is tax.</p><p>"If that's your everyday gin and tonic kind of gin, I'm not going to say anything bad about that. There's not going to be a huge amount of complexity to the flavour, [which is why you] pay more money to go up the spectrum a bit."</p><h2>5. "If you like drinking martinis, you'll order it with this gin, with this vermouth, stirred 29.5 times or whatever, with 2.5 olives - people are very specific. I think you'll see a lot more of that coming through [with gin]."</p><h2>6. "There's a massive misconception that people don't want too much dilution, so they put one or two ice cubes in there, and they melt really quickly."</p><p>However, he said it's actually the opposite if you want your drink to stay cold, because if there's more ice in the glass, it melts more slowly.</p><p>"The more ice the better," he said.</p><h2>7. Not buying good tonic...</h2><p>Many people who think they don't like gin have only tried it in a gin and tonic, according to Carter - and it's the tonic that they don't like.</p><p>"Tonic is bitter - that's enough to but a lot of people off," he said, adding: "They think it's the gin. When they try gin as a cocktail, they say they didn't realise they liked gin."</p><p>Carter uses Fever Tree tonic - because it's local, "very good quality," and uses natural flavours - but says he favours a number of other brands as well, including Schweppes Cucumber Tonic.</p><p>If all else fails, you can try gin with ginger ale, which has no bitterness and is set to be the next trend, according to Carter.</p><h2>8. ...or buying litre bottles</h2><p>Another big tip on tonic from Carter? "The temptation is to go for a litre bottle for value for money," he said. "If you're serving a crowd, totally go for a litre bottle, but if it's just you and a partner drinking one gin and tonic per night, by the third night it's going to be flat.</p><p>"You're better off biting the bullet and going for smaller, more expensive cans," he said, adding that you'll be able to keep your tonic fresh by online opening one per day.</p><h2>9. Getting the balance wrong</h2><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><img src="https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com/image/5adf353a19ee8623008b475d-2000/sam%20pouring%20drinks.jpg" border="0" alt="sam pouring drinks" data-mce-source="Alison Millington"><p class="source"><span>Alison Millington</span></p></img></div><p></p></div></div><p>When you're making a cocktail - whether it's with gin or another spirit, you should keep an old bartender's rhyme, in mind, according to Carter: sour, sweet, strong, weak.</p><p>"One part sweet, two parts sour, three parts alcohol, four parts lengthener or effervescent," he said.
