There are five new plans in total starting at ₹501 and going up to ₹2,595. The new plans have been introduced to include the recently launched Disney+ Hotstar Mobile plan. Vi previously offered the Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription along with its recharge plans. In addition to a one year subscription of Disney+ Hotstar, these Vi prepaid plans also offer unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day and 3GB of data per day along with extra data up to 48GB. Customers also get access to Vi Movies and TV Classic service for movies, TV shows, live TV and news. There’s also a data add-on pack priced at ₹601 that offers 75GB of data and Disney+ Hotstar Mobile for one year. This booster pack can be used along with an existing recharge plan. These prepaid plans also come with Vi’s ‘Binge All Night’ and ‘Weekend Data Rollover” offers. Under the Binge All Night offer, Vi users can get unlimited data between 12 am and 6 am daily. Vi launches new prepaid recharge plans with Disney+ Hotstar Mobile subscription

New Delhi, June 7 () Telecom operator Reliance Jio has partnered with streaming service Disney+ Hotstar to offer its prepaid users one year complimentary subscription to Disney+ Hotstar VIP. Disney+ Hotstar VIP offers Hotstar specials, live sporting action, latest bollywood, superhero movies, among others. As per the information on Jio.com, prepaid users opting for plans starting at Rs 401 will be able to avail the Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription worth Rs 399 for one year, at no extra cost, over and above the other benefits they get in a plan. The offer can be availed by Jio prepaid customers opting for specific monthly pack, annual pack, and add on data packs. The Rs 401 monthly plan provides 90 GB data, unlimited voice calling and access to Jio apps valid for 28 days, and users recharging with this plan will also get one year subscription of Disney+ Hotstar VIP. The offer is also available on Rs 2,599 annual plan which offers 740 GB data, unlimited voice calling and access to Jio app for 365 days, as well as for those opting for combo pack of data add-on vouchers, starting at Rs 612 (12 vouchers of Rs 51). Reliance Jio offers 1-year complimentary Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription to prepaid users

New Delhi, Apr 17 () Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea have extended the validity of pre-paid mobile plans till May 3 for those users who could not recharge their account due to the lockdown imposed to contain Covid-19 spread. The extension in validity altogether benefits around 12 crore customers. It will enable customers to continue getting incoming calls even if they are unable to recharge their account till May 3. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea had earlier extended validity till April 17 of pre-paid account holders."Many of these customers have been able to recharge through several channels activated by Airtel including - ATMs, post offices, grocery stores and chemist shops, in addition to digital channels. However, close to 30 million (3 crore) such customers have still not been able to recharge their pre-paid mobile accounts," Bharti Airtel said in a statement.The government announced nationwide lockdown starting March 24 till April 14. It has been further extended till May 3. Both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea offer cashback or commission to their customers who recharge pre-paid account of subscriber on their network through apps of the respective companies. Vodafone Idea said free of cost extension of incoming service validity will enable millions of feature phone users of both Vodafone and Idea to continue to receive incoming calls, even if the validity of their plan expires earlier. "In order to ensure that consumers stay connected during this extended lock down, we are extending the incoming service validity of 90 million consumers till May 3," Vodafone Idea marketing director Avneesh Khosla said. Telecom operator <keyword id="6354287" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharti-airtel" source="Orion">Bharti Airtel</keyword>'s consolidated net profit fell 2.8 per cent during Q3FY22 to Rs 830 crore on a year-on-year basis. In the same quarter of the previous fiscal, the consolidated net profit of the company stood at Rs 854 crore. On the other hand, the total revenues during Q3FY22 grew 12.6 per cent to Rs 29,867 crore, as against Rs 26,518 crore in the same quarter last fiscal. Besides, EBITDA grew 22.4 per cent to Rs 14,905 crore, against Rs 12,178 crore reported in the same quarter last fiscal. "We have delivered another quarter of sustained performance across all our business segments... The recent tariff revision for mobile services has gone down well and we are exiting the quarter with an industry leading ARPU of Rs 163," said Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO, India and South Asia in a statement. The full impact of the revised mobile tariffs, however, will be visible in the fourth quarter, he said. "Our Enterprise, Homes and Africa business continue to deliver strongly, with steady increase in contribution to the overall mix of the portfolio. Our balance sheet is robust and we are now generating healthy free cash flows. This has enabled us to recently prepay some of our spectrum liabilities to the government thereby reducing the interest burden." Airtel announces cashback of ₹6,000, free one-time screen replacement on purchase of new devices

New Delhi, Jul 6 () Wireless revenues of telecom companies Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL) are expected to fall during the first quarter of current fiscal on account of the nationwide lockdown, according to a report by Emkay Global. The lockdown, imposed to combat the coronavirus pandemic, led to delayed recharges, fewer subscriber additions, and absence of international roaming revenues for telcos. "Wireless revenues for Bharti and VIL shall fall in Q1FY21 due to the nationwide lockdown, which resulted in delayed recharges by low ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) prepaid subscribers on account of the reverse labour migration and impact on income levels, minimal subscriber additions, SIM consolidation, and absence of international roaming revenues," Emkay Global said in its sector update. APRU is expected to decline sequentially in Q1 of 2020-21 after healthy growth in the preceding quarter (Q4FY20), it added. "Bharti and VIL are likely to see five per cent quarter on quarter fall in ARPU. Home broadband to see a healthy increase in new connections, boosted by the lockdown. Airtel Africa should perform well as the impact of COVID-19 was minimal," it said. It expects moderation in subscriber additions due to lack of smartphone sales in April and early May. "In fact, reverse migration could lead to subscriber loss for the industry due to delayed or no recharges," Emkay Global said. It expects decline in subscriber base of Bharti and VIL, with a more pronounced subscriber loss for the latter. Both operators are likely to see minimal increase in data subscribers. It, however, anticipates subscriber addition in case of Reliance Jio on account of market share gains. Data consumption for all three private operators is estimated to rise by 10-12 per cent sequentially, driven by underlying increase even as new subscriber additions are expected to remain muted. Cost savings are seen accruing from marketing, channel margins (lower gross additions and increased digital recharges) and other costs, whereas network opex shall continue to rise on increased utilisations. There could be some provisions on delayed payments in the enterprise segment for Bharti and VIL, it pointed out. Bharti Airtel, VIL mobile revenues to fall in Q1 due to lockdown: Report

New Delhi, Dec 10 () Reliance Industries' after-tax return on capital employed is likely to rise to 11 per cent in two years from the current 7-8 per cent as margins rise on the back of an increase in telecom tariffs, Morgan Stanley said on Tuesday.
 "RIL strong stock outperformance has once again led investors to ask about what is next," it said in a research report.
 Over the past decade, RIL's post-tax ROCE (return on capital employed) has been range-bound around 7-8 per cent. "We think this trend is set to be reversed as the telecom tariff increase should raise returns on USD 50 billion of investments (50 per cent of the last capital expenditure cycle)."
 Last week, top-three mobile operators Bharti Airtel, Jio and Vodafone Idea increased prepaid tariffs by 14-33 per cent.
 "We see ROCE rising to 11 per cent in two years as consumer portfolio returns inch closer to energy ROCE of around 14 per cent," it said adding although overall returns are still below levels since 2004, an uplift in the chemical cycle from current troughs should boost ROCE higher.
 Reliance Jio, the telecom arm of RIL, last week raised tariff by up to 39 per cent following hikes effected by other service providers. The hike will boost revenue over the next four quarters as the revamped plans will restrict down-trading-led revenue leakage.
 Edelweiss in a separate report said while the industry's average revenue per user (ARPU) has plunged 33 per cent over the past four years, voice usage per customer has jumped 84 per cent and data usage by 47-times providing enough value to customers to justify the tariff hike.
 "We expect industry ARPUs to improve over Q4FY20-Q3FY21 led by users optimising spends by advancing recharges as well as consolidating SIMs," it said. "Moreover, users are likely to delay recharges as well as down-trades, especially in the voice segment."
 However, the new tariff plans are still affordable and the hikes are expected to drive 35 per cent ARPU improvement in four quarters for Jio, it said. "With Reliance Jio plans being 20 per cent cheaper than rivals, we expect the company's robust subscriber addition pace to sustain. Hence, we revise up Jio's FY21 subscriber estimate 17 per cent to 471 million."
 Centrum said Jio has seen the highest increase in tariffs in the 56-84 days' validity plans which have risen by 33-35 per cent, while the lowest increase was seen in the 2GB/day plans for 28 days (12.2 per cent).
 "Given that there is some portion of subscribers who may down trade to lower priced plans and some subscribers may have taken longer prepaid plans in advance, we estimate an 8 per cent increment in ARPU for FY21 and a further 19 per cent in FY22E for Jio," it said. "Resultant, EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) for Jio sees an upgrade of 16/20 per cent from previous estimates."
 Jio plans, it said, remain the most attractive on the street. "Despite the material uptick in the tariff plans, Jio's plans across price points remain the cheapest on the street, with discount of 8-20 per cent vs Airtel/ Voda-Idea plans."
 "With the superior data speeds and network coverage for Jio, we believe its dominant position in terms of market share growth and data usage will sustain comfortably over the next 18-24 months post this change," it said.
 Morgan Stanley said RIL's chemical Ebitda will decline a 20 per cent quarter-on-quarter in October-December, leading to overall earnings to remain muted despite better refining margin.
 However, the trough is unlikely to be sustained as supply rationalisation and normalisation in inventory should help margins, it said. ANZ HRS

Reliance to see ROCE rise to 11 pc in 2 years

'Make in India' will get a push with the government's latest move to impose a 10 per cent basic customs duty on mobile phones imported into the country, according to <keyword id="6367495" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PTI">PTI</keyword> news report. The levy is also applicable on parts like chargers, headsets, battery and USB cable, with immediate effect. "The duty differential earlier was about 11.5 per cent in favour of local manufacturing. But with GST subsuming SAD and countervailing duties, that benefit was taken away. The 10 per cent customs duty will help push local manufacturing once again," Intex Chief Financial Officer and Director, Rajeev Jain told PTI. With this, status quo will be maintained (in favour of domestic manufacturing), he added. The announcement on the duty came in simultaneously with the midnight roll-out of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the intervening night of June 30 and July 1. Many phone makers, who assemble their devices at facilities in the country, also import small quantities of phones from countries like China. "The (import) quantities, at least for us, is very small and therefore, the customs duty will not make much difference. For the end-customer, there is no impact as he/she pays 12 per cent GST for the handset," Jain explained. The government , however, has kept certain parts like printed circuit board assembly (PCBA), camera module, touch panel, cover glass assembly, vibrator motor and ringer, out of the levy of basic customs duty. Echoing a similar view, BMR Advisors Partner, <keyword id="3424677" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mahesh-Jaising">Mahesh Jaising</keyword> said till yesterday, companies importing handsets were of the view they would have benefited under GST, given the manufacturing duty differential scheme going away. "Consequently, consumers were expecting (prices of) imported phones (typically the high end phones which are usually imported) to have come down. However, with the 10 per cent customs duty last night, the tax structure is again in favour of local manufacturing," he added. Incidentally, telephone bills of consumers will go up under GST regime, while prepaid customers are getting lesser talktime than before. This is because, under GST, telecom services are being taxed at 18 per cent compared to 15 per cent, earlier. Users are now getting talktime of about Rs 80 on a recharge of Rs 100, compared to about Rs 83 earlier. Similarly, costs for postpaid users will also go up to the extent of three percentage points, starting this month. So, for a monthly usage of Rs 1,000, users will have to pay Rs 1,180 instead of Rs 1,150 earlier. With the GST rolling out at midnight, some consumers faced issues getting recharges in early hours today. Some retailers complained of slow recharge processing initially but these issues seemed to be ironed out as the day progressed.
