Automotive start-up EVTRIC Motors has unveiled its e-delivery scooter in the low-speed category at the EV Expo 2021 that will offer a range of 110 kms on a single charge. Showcased at the event held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi over the weekend, the scooter can clock a speed of 25 kms per hour. It features 12-inch tubeless tyres and a loading capacity of 150 kg. The three-day event is supported by the <keyword id="11755327" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ministries-of-road-transport">Ministries of Road Transport</keyword> and Highways, and <keyword id="11821460" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="micro-small">Micro, Small</keyword>, and Medium Enterprises (<keyword id="6358354" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="MSME">MSME</keyword>), along with <keyword id="357266" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICAT">ICAT</keyword> (International Centre for Automotive Technology). The scooter can cover a distance of over 110 km on a single charge with two swappable lithium-ion battery options, thus avoiding a need for frequent charging, considering the requirement in the segment. Homegrown automation company <keyword id="11548787" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="papl">PAPL</keyword> recently launched EVTRIC Motors to fuel the ongoing electric vehicle revolution in India. "It is a popular opinion that EVs are not at par with the combustion engine products. This myth has been holding back the industry. Apart from this, there is a dearth of localisation factor in most of the products flooding the market," said Manoj Patil, MD and Founder, EVTRIC Motors. Homegrown startup EVTRIC’s electric scooter can go up to 110 kilometres on a single charge, company claims

A Chinese EV company developed a battery with a 1,000km range — and its CEO tested it out on a 14-hour livestream

Ioniq 6 'Electrified Streamliner' that promises to go from 0 km/hour to 100 km/hour in 5.1 seconds, will go on sale in the US early next year and the company is yet to announce the price. With a 350-kW charger, IONIQ 6 can charge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes. The company said that the car has the most aerodynamic styling to date and an array of empowering features, such as dual colour ambient lighting, speed sync lighting, EV performance tune-up and electric active sound design (e-ASD), enhancing the electric mobility experience. "Ioniq 6 is the next ambitious step forward in <keyword id="596" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="hyundai" source="Orion">Hyundai</keyword> Motor's strategy to accelerate its transition to electrification and into a position as a global leader in EVs," said Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO, Hyundai Motor. The car will be available in 12 colours and is slated to go into production in the third quarter this year. The electric car offers ultra-fast, multi-charging capability made possible by Hyundai's <keyword id="9947285" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="electric-global-modular-platform" source="Orion">Electric-Global Modular Platform</keyword> (E-GMP). The electrified streamliner takes advantage of E-GMP to provide an extremely long, 2,950-mm wheelbase, supported by a choice of 20-inch or 18-inch wheels. With an impressive overall length of 4,855 mm, the car's 1,880-mm width and 1,495-mm height give it a distinctively sleek and stylish appearance amidst a sea of lookalike EVs. "The spacious interior, with sustainability and usability at its heart, once again represents a step forward for electric vehicles, in line with the values of our customers," said Thomas Schemera, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Division. The dual colour ambient lighting allows a driver to customise the look and feel of the interior cabin by selecting from a spectrum of 64 colours and six pre-selected themes. The speed sync lighting mode adds emotion to the driving experience by changing the brightness of the interior lighting in the first row based on the vehicle's speed. The optional relaxation comfort seats feature in the first row promote leisure by simply adjusting the seat angle. In addition, all of its seats are specifically-manufactured for all-electric models, approximately 30 per cent thinner than those in other conventional models, providing more space for passengers, said the company. There are four type-C and one type-A <keyword id="93829" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="usb" source="Orion">USB</keyword> ports available to improve customer convenience. The EV performance tune-up system allows the driver to freely adjust steering effort, motor power, accelerator pedal sensitivity and driveline mode. The optimum, spaceship-like sound is added to the cabin, and the sound texture changes based on the vehicle's driving status, said the company. Jared Polis to grant clemency or commute the 110-year prison sentence handed down to a truck driver who struck and killed four people in a 2019 crash. Rogel Aguilera-Mederos, a 26-year-old truck driver from Texas, was on Monday sentenced to 110 years in prison by a Colorado judge after he was in October convicted on 27 counts relating to the April 2019 crash in Lakewood. According to <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/multiple-fatalities-fiery-crash-involving-semis-cars-denver-area-n998781">NBC News</a>, video from the 2019 crash showed vehicles had erupted into flames following the collision with Aguilera-Mederos's semitrailer. Miguel Angel Lamas Arellano, 24; William Bailey, 67; Doyle Harrison, 61; and Stanley Politano, 69, were killed in the crash, and numerous others were injured, including five children on a school bus who were hospitalized.According to the NBC <keyword id="11893589" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="news" source="Orion">News</keyword> report, Aguilera-Mederos was driving eastbound on I-70 carrying lumber on his semitrailer when he collided with traffic that had been stopped due to a prior accident, police said. At the time of the accident, Aguilera-Mederos, then 23, said his brakes failed as he was driving downhill, leading to the incident."This accident was not intentional, nor was it a criminal act on the drivers part. No one but the trucking company he is/was employed by should be held accountable for this accident," says the Change.org petition, which was first created three years ago by Colorado resident Heather Gilbee.She said changed the petition to focus on clemency after he was sentenced on Monday. The petition calls for Polis to grant clemency or to commute his sentence to the time he has already served.At the sentencing Monday, Colorado Judge A. Bruce Jones said he wouldn't have applied the sentences consecutively if he had a choice, according to multiple reports. He said state law required the sentences be served consecutively one after another, leading to the 110-year sentence. <a href="https://www.denverpost.com/2021/12/15/i-70-trucker-110-years-sentence-aguilera-mederos-unjust-clemency-commute/">The Denver Post</a> editorial board also this week called on Polis to commute his sentence. "We are not intending to undermine the verdict from the jury — Aguilera-Mederos did indeed kill four people and seriously injure others in a tragic and preventable crash," the editorial said."But we do think there is an important distinction that the law, as written, did not allow jurors or the judge to make. The 26-year-old was not drunk. He was not intentionally driving recklessly because he was in a hurry or out for a thrill or running from police. He was not even full of road rage as his semi-truck accelerated down Interstate 70 out of control," the board added.In a statement to the Denver Channel, Jefferson County District Attorney Alexis King said she stood by charging Aguilera-Mederos. "This tragedy was devastating to the victims, their families and our entire community," King said. "The actions and decisions of Mr. Aguilera-Mederos resulted in the loss of four lives, devastating injuries to the survivors and – as we heard them state during the sentencing hearing – grave impacts to their families and loved ones. We initiated plea negotiations but Mr. Aguilera-Mederos declined to consider anything other than a traffic ticket. A spokesperson for Polis told Insider: "We are aware of this issue, the Governor and his team review each clemency application individually." The petition is the fastest-growing petition Change.org saw this year, the website told KSN. More than 45,000 people signed the petition in a single hour on Wednesday, Change.org told the outlet.

The achievement is an unofficial world record.Hypermiling is when drivers employ certain techniques to improve a car's efficiency. Peeters and Cools, for example, shut off the air conditioning to conserve energy, but the two aren't divulging their other hypermiling hacks.The two Tesla drivers broke the record on a 26 kilometer (16 mile) loop in Belgium."Although it might be more beneficial to keep driving straight and preferable with a tail wind, our approach had the advantage that we could learn from each round," Peeters wrote in the blog.Peeters and Cools took turns driving for 23 hours and 45 minutes - not an easy task in the summer without AC. There were points where the internal temperature of the car reached 35 degrees Celcius (95 degrees Fahrenheit). "It was just like sitting in hell and the sun was really burning," Peeters wrote in the blog. They sent me this rather than the M2 Hive System, which as of this writing doesn't appear to be available anymore. The Hive System features one M2 standalone router and four Bee Mesh Nodes that are small plug-in extenders. The Hive is designed to cover a home of 5,000 square feet. Fortunately, the standalone routers also work together to form a mesh system.I asked Matthew Fleischl, a public relations representative for Mercku, what the difference is between the two mesh system options. He said multiple standalones are better for large, open spaces. But, the Hive System is ideal for homes or offices with many walls. I live in an eight-bedroom, three-story house, which would suggest the Hive would work better. But alas, I used the standalone routers, and they worked fine.The <a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HQM74X6/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=biip_012819_mercku-wifi-router-product-review-20&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=B07HQM74X6&amp;linkId=41d88ddef8bb5db4b4ff2dfbe5877f0d" target="_blank" rel="noopener">M2 is a dual-band router</a> capable of 867 Mbps speeds. There are three ports: LAN, WAN, and USB 2.0. Each router came in a red box with a power adapter, a network cable, and the setup guide, which guided me to connect the router to the modem, connect my phone to the router, and then use the app to do the rest. It took me about 10 minutes to connect <a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HQM74X6/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=biip_012819_mercku-wifi-router-product-review-20&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;creativeASIN=B07HQM74X6&amp;linkId=41d88ddef8bb5db4b4ff2dfbe5877f0d" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the first M2</a>. I had the whole mesh system up in about 25 minutes. This included updating the firmware, which I strongly recommend doing immediately. I was not able to find information on how much added footage you get when you add multiple M2s. I installed the main router by the modem on the first floor. The other two routers were installed on opposite ends of the second floor. To test the coverage, I took my <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/hp-spectre-folio-laptop-review-2019-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HP Spectre Folio Laptop</a> and ran speed tests in various places around my house. First, I tested right next to the modem and main router. The download speed was 59 Mbps, and the upload speed was 98 Mbps. These are not blazing-fast speeds, but they're enough for most purposes. Next, I went into our unfinished basement as far away from the main router as possible. I was impressed that I was still able to get some decent speeds: 43 Mbps download/28 Mbps upload. To really test the range, I went to my neighbor's house 100 feet away, and I was still getting passable speeds: 17 Mbps download and 11 Mbps upload. Lastly, I tested the speeds in my second-floor office, where a secondary router was located. The laptop achieved 65 Mbps downloads and 83 Mbps uploads. I also tried speed tests with my <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/hp-envy-34-curved-all-in-one-review-2018-11" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HP Envy Curved All-in-One PC</a>, which was connected to the router by an ethernet cord. I got my best speeds with this test: 194 Mbps downloads and 193 Mbps uploads. There were no dead spots in my house, and I was impressed that the coverage was good enough to stream video everywhere.A router must be able to handle heavy bandwidth demands from several devices at once. To test this, I streamed videos or played video games on every device in my house simultaneously. This meant, seven devices were streaming video, and two were used for online gaming. Even with this heavy demand on the router, I didn't experience any degradation of video quality.The Mercku app allows you to blacklist specific devices and websites, limit the download and upload rates of devices on your network, and block the internet at specific times. I tested all of these controls, and they seemed to work well for the most part. The only problem I had was blocking specific sites. For instance, I blocked Google easily. But, when I tried to blacklist YouTube, it took about an hour for the changes to take effect. It's only dual-band instead of tri-band, and it doesn't feature MU-MIMO (multi-user, multiple input, multiple output). Both of these features help with handling multiple users on the network at the same time. However, even without these features, we did not experience any issues when several devices were gaming and streaming videos.Occasionally, we would just lose our internet connection. It was never at a crucial moment - like during a video conference - and would only be for a few seconds. But, it was annoying.Lastly, the app doesn't automatically let you know when it's time to upgrade the firmware. I was surprised by how low the Wi-Fi speeds were in my tests since its actual performance was terrific. I was also impressed with how the mesh system of three routers was able to reach every corner of my house. And, it served several devices at once without any trouble.
