Tiger Woods announced that he's playing the Masters, ending his two-month break from competitive golf.

He released this brief statement:

"I'm playing in the Masters. It's obviously very important to me, and I want to be there. I've worked a lot on my game and I'm looking forward to competing. I'm excited to get to Augusta and I appreciate everyone's support."

It's Tiger's first tournament appearance since he pulled out of the Farmers Insurance Open with a back injury in early February. Before that, his chipping game was in such bad shape that many wondered whether he had developed the yips.

Rumors about where his game is at now are mixed. On the one hand, he reportedly shot a "worst-ball 66" at his home Medalist Golf Cup in Florida - arguably the best round he has ever played at the course. On the other hand, he reportedly had some chipping troubles and shot 2-over at his practice round at Augusta:

Playing Augusta is a gamble. It's one thing to shank a few chip shots at a winter tournament that barely anyone is watching, it's another to do so on golf's biggest stage.
