This woman tracked down her anonymous sperm donor online, and then she married him
Australian couple Aminah Hart and Scott Andersen got married in December 2015 and have a young daughter named Leila, but their romance is anything but typical.
In fact, Hart and Andersen were never supposed to meet at all. After Hart and her previous partner lost two infants to a genetic disorder that only affects males, the 42-year-old woman decided to use in vitro fertilization as a final attempt for a healthy daughter, Metro UK reports. Andersen, a cattle farmer, was her anonymous sperm donor.
After Leila turned one, Hart decided she wanted Andersen to play a role in her daughter's life. Based on the little information she had about Andersen, Hart tracked him down by scouring the internet. Once she found him, she reached out through the IVF register and asked to arrange a meeting.
Fortunately, Andersen agreed.
"It was nervous and we were very tentative, but the rapport was really easy. The first thing for me was, 'phew he's a nice guy,'" Hart told The Telegraph.
After their first meeting, Andersen started having monthly visits with Leila. While Andersen was getting to know his daughter, Hart says she began to fall in love too. The pair got engaged soon after on a trip to Thailand.
"I just essentially say to people the cart well and truly came before the horse and the horse caught up eventually and hooked itself on," Hart said.
