Is TV dead? Well, not exactly. While TV shows and movies may be thriving, it turns out that not many people are using their TV sets to watch them. Instead, more and more viewers are turning to their tablets, mobile devices, and laptops to get their entertainment fix. What does that mean for advertisers? They'll need a more targeted game plan if they want to reach their audience.
YuMe and Nielsen recently conducted an in-depth survey to find out how people who own several devices are consuming media. The study found that TV advertisers could reach more of their audience if they shifted a small percentage of their TV dollars to various connected devices such as tablets, computers, smartphones, and connected TVs. This slight shift could increase an advertisers reach by up to 8.2%.
