This rare aerial footage over Pyongyang shows a desolate North Korean capital

A Singaporean photographer recently uploaded a video on YouTube of rare aerial footage over Pyongyang.

The nearly 6 1/2-minute video runs from take off to landing and reveals bright buildings yet desolate roads and sidewalks in the North Korean capital of almost 2.6 million people.

The photographer, Aram Pan, who runs a photo blog called DPRK 360, was given access to shoot aerial footage in North Korea in 2016, and he shot the video in May of that year, Mashable reported, citing the Straits Times. 

Pan says on his website that "there are two sides to every coin" and the entire DPRK 360 project is "all about looking at North Korea with a different perspective."
