This kid changed his name because it was cheaper than paying Ryanair's fee

Ryanair is a no-frills European budget airline that charges high fees for any extras.

And when we mean anything extra, £15 ($23) for printing off your boarding pass if you didn't print it off at home or even £30 ($46) upwards for checking in a bag.

So when Adam Armstrong, 19, found out that it would cost £220 ($337) in "admin fees" to get his name corrected on a Ryanair ticket, he opted to change his name by deed poll instead because it was cheaper, as originally reported in The Sun newspaper.

Armstrong is booked to go on holiday to Ibiza next week with his girlfriend, India Lomas, 17. However, her father booked his ticket under the name "Adam West" after looking at his Facebook profile. Armstrong had the name "Adam West" in homage to the Batman actor.

However, Armstrong found out that he would be charged double the usual £110 admin fee for changing a name on a ticket because his girlfriend was listed on the same booking.

He changed his name for free via deed poll, then paid £103 ($158) for a new passport, which is even lower than the amount he would have paid if the fee had not been doubled.

On Today FM's The Anton Savage Show this morning in Ireland, Armstrong (now West) said "yeah, I'm not giving Ryanair a penny."
