If you’re planning a vacation right now, or in the next two months- well you’ve hit the jackpot.

According to TripAdvisor, the best time to book hotels in popular holiday destinations across the globe is between May and July.

The travel planning and booking site analysed hotel bookings and meta click data from April 2014 to February 2016 and then released the findings in its “Best Time to Book” report.

The report elaborates that travelers can save about 20% on hotels if they book them during the May-July period, which they claim is the least expensive period to book hotels across the globe.

Additionally, the research also highlighted how hotel rates change gradually over time across the world- without dramatic increases or decreases in price.

For example, the least expensive time to book hotels in Asia is usually three months before the strip, when travelers can save 24% as compared to the most expensive booking period, while for European hotels, the best time to book is between 2-5 months ahead, when travelers end up saving 26% as compared to the peak period. On the other hand, though the rates for U.S hotels remain consistent all around the year, it’s advisable that travelers book within two months ahead of the trip in order to save a modest 8%.

“For the cost conscious Indian traveler, the ‘Best time to book’ report answers the most important question - when to book your hotel stay in order to maximize your savings for summer travel this year,” said Nikhil Ganju, Country Manager, TripAdvisor India.
