This is how the Markets opened today

The Nifty slipped in early deals on Friday as traders remained on sidelines ahead of the weekend even as stock specific action was seen on mid caps.

The Nifty was flat at 8,588 points in initial trades. The Advance-Decline Ratio was at 22/26 with Lupin, Bank of Baroda, ITC and State Bank of India dipping below Thursday's close compared with Vedanta, Sun Pharma, Idea and Cairn that posted early gains on the Index.

Minor skids were seen on broader indices as investors refrained from longs at the start of trade. The CNX 100, CNX 200 and CNX 500 Indexes were in light shades of red. The Bank Nifty slumped 36 points in initial trades. Sectoral indices such as CNX FMCG, CNX Finance and CNX PSU Bank were in the red, while CNX Pharma Index, CNX Metals and CNX Energy Indices showed a small upticks on the National Stock Exchange.

And on the Bombay Stock Exchange, the Sensex rose 24 points to 28,322 points in initial trades on Friday. As a consequence, the Advance-Decline Ratio stood at 16/14. Hindalco, Sun Pharma, Reliance Industries and Cipla were top on the list of gainers while ITC, TCS and Bajaj Auto posted modest losses on the Index.

Trade was absolutely flat in the futures and options space with Ceat, CESC, Apollo Tyres and Amara Raja Batteries on top of the gainers’ list versus Motherson Sumi, Adani Enterprises, Sun TV and JP Associates that fell in early deals. The Advance-Decline Ratio, meanwhile, stood at 93/60.

But the broader market was dominated by the bulls in the first half hour of trade with 961 shares rising compared with 527 that fell.

Minda Corporation, Monte Carlo Fashions and Praj Industries made it to the volume buzzers list in early deals.
