The Nifty and the Sensex gained for the third day on Friday as continuing short covering and value buying in beaten down stocks pushed stocks higher on Dalal Street. Banks were in demand and the CNX PSU Banking index was the top gaining benchmark as traders latched on to futures which were thrashed beyond recognition several days ago.
