A new interactive map which shows users where major movies and TV shows were filmed around the world has just been released by travel website Expedia.
Scenic real-life sets featured on the travel booking site's "World on Screen" map include the Lake District, where parts of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' were filmed, London, home to the BBC show 'Sherlock,' as well as European locations from Northern Ireland to Malta for 'Game of Thrones.'
The map suggests itineraries to help guide travellers in each destination and allows users to search by location, genre, or type of activity (road trip, beach holiday, city break, or country escape), like this:

Each trip includes an overview of the itinerary, a specific breakdown of locations, and practical details such as travel and accommodation. There are also "top tips" with recommendations for prime viewing spots or nearby must-see attractions along the route.
'Game of Thrones' fans can channel their inner Daenerys by following a themed itinerary across Europe. The tour starts in Downhill Beach in Northern Ireland with stops in Iceland, Croatia, and Malta, before ending at Alcazar de Seville, an Ottoman palace in Spain that featured as the Water Palaces of Dorne in the TV series.
Here's what the 'Game of Thrones' tour looks like:
