Neither of the main characters in "500 Days of Summer" are played by people of color.

The movie "500 Days of Summer" runs 97 minutes. But if you edit it down to just the lines spoken by characters who aren't white, it only lasts 30 seconds.

writer named Dylan Marron has made it his mission to condense popular movies to show just how few people of color are featured on film. He's posting the results to his Tumblr, "EVERY SINGLE WORD," as spotted by The Guardian.

The Tumblr features popular movies, like "500 Days of Summer," reduced to only include the scenes where people of color speak.

The result: movies in under a minute.

Take a look at Marron's brief version of  "500 Days of Summer."

Several other movies have gotten the Marron treatment, too. Some of the worst offenders have no lines spoken by characters of color at all.

For example, take a look at this video excerpted from the 2014 musical film "Into the Woods." The 7-second clip opens with the final chorus of the movie's title song and then cuts directly to black.

"You're asking me to believe that a giant is chasing you through the woods, but I can't believe a person of color is in the woods?" Marron asked The Guardian.

The edits are even more startling when you consider films like 2014's "Noah" starring Russell Crowe. The biblical epic drew criticism for its complete lack of people of color in a story that is considered to have taken place in a region where white people, like Crowe, would have been the minority.

Marron's project also highlights the types of roles being played by people of color in major motion pictures.

The few lines in these films are not coming from main characters, but rather support roles, such as a secretary in "American Hustle," a physical therapist in "Black Swan," a bus driver in "500 Days of Summer" and a security guard in "Frances Ha."
