The UK has officially decided to leave the European Union, following a nationwide referendum on Thursday.

The race was a tight one - 51.9% voted to leave the 28-nation bloc while 48.1% voted to stay.

The shocking announcement is making waves throughout the world. Global markets are in turmoil as the value of the pound plummets and European stocks face sharp declines.

Not to mention that UK Prime Minister David Cameron has announced his intention to resign, and even celebrities are expressing their disappointment.
