Housing over over 5,000 crew members and capable of carrying out missions for months at a time, aircraft carriers allow the US to project serious military force at any point around the globe. For the past seven months, the USS Harry S. Truman has been taking part in strikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
After so many months of continuous duty, which resulted in over 2,000 strikes against ISIS, the aircraft carrier arrived at the Greek island of Crete on June 21 to give its crew a much-needed break. But even while engaging in operations, aircraft carriers have many of the amenities found on land.
