US Marine Corps
The Official Color Guard of the Marine Corps presents the colors during the national anthem at Marine Week Detroit's opening ceremony, Sept. 6.
The Marine Corps had an active year in 2017.
Among their many accomplishments, Marine units were responsible for massive artillery barrages that helped defeat ISIS in its former capital city of Raqqa, testing a fully autonomous helicopter, and graduating their first female infantry officer.
Aside from that, Marines participated in a number of air and ground exercises around the world.
