There's a funny fashion trend in 'Batman v Superman' and it wasn't done on purpose

While most fans will be paying attention to the action and Easter eggs in "Batman v Superman" this weekend, here's one other thing you may want to keep an eye out for while watching the big event movie.

New York Mag and Vulture senior editor Kyle Buchanan noticed a fashion trend shared across the board by four of the film's main cast. Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Jeremy Irons (Alfred), and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) are all wearing vests.

Why do so many characters share the same fashion sense in "BvS"?

I mentioned this to "Batman v Superman" costume designer Michael Wilkinson during a phone call Thursday afternoon. He burst out laughing in response to the observation.

"That's so funny," Wilkinson said. "I hadn't even thought about that before. That's so funny. I think it's just an item of clothing that I love and that may be represented on screen. It was absolutely not a conscious decision that I made."

"I'm thrilled that people are looking," he added. "That's amazing."

We can't argue with that. It's some impressive attention to detail to spot that among everything else going on in the film.

"Batman v Superman" is in theaters Friday, March 25, 2016.
