There Are Two Popular Secret Menu Items At Chipotle Headquarters

YoutubeChipotle's secret menu has become the stuff of legends — and the burrito chain wants to keep it that way.

Fast Company's Mark Wilson has written up a fantastic look into the company's secret menu as he went on a quest to find the fabled "quesarito."

In it, Chipotle communications director Chris Arnold spilled a little detail about the Chipotle offices.

It turns out that Chipotle's corporate employees are big fans of the secret menu too.

There are two items in particular that are popular at the HQ: nachos and quesadillas.

Interestingly, despite their popularity, Chipotle doesn't really acknowledge these secret menu items (though, now, the quesadilla does appear on the kids menu.)

The line machinery isn't customized to make nachos or quesadillas in restaurants. For instance, workers can't melt nacho cheese, so instead they order the toppings so that the cheese sits right on top of the beans, which are hot. And the items aren't in any operations manual. Employees are left to teach each other how to do the off-menu concoctions, creating an "oral history," according to Wilson.
