Had a couple of extra drinks last night? Even if you promise yourself each time that you won’t overdo it again, we all know that's easier said than done. While the best way to avoid a hangover is to drink in moderation but here are a few remedies that can help ease the discomfort.

Hydrate

Drink plenty of water to rehydrate. Electrolyte-rich drinks like coconut water or fresh fruit juices can also help.

Eat Carbohydrates

Consuming carbohydrates can help restore your energy. Alcohol can lower blood sugar levels, which may contribute to the fatigue and headaches associated with a hangover. Additionally, many people neglect to eat while drinking, further reducing their blood sugar.

Rest

Allow yourself to get plenty of rest. Your body needs time to recover.

Pain Relief

If you have a headache or muscle aches, consider taking an over-the-counter pain reliever.

Avoid Caffeine

If you’ve woken up with a nasty hangover, it's best to avoid caffeine. While it may be tempting to reach for a hot cup of coffee to ease that pounding headache, keep in mind that caffeine can further dehydrate your body and worsen nausea."
