As India celebrates its 78th Independence Day on August 15, honouring freedom fighters and the end of British rule in 1947, it's noteworthy that few other nations also commemorate their independence on this date.

South korea

South Korea celebrates its National Liberation Day, also known as Gwangbokjeol, on August 15. This day marks the end of Japanese colonial rule in 1945, after Japan's surrender in World War II. Gwangbokjeol, meaning "Restoration of Light Day," symbolises the liberation of Korea and the restoration of the nation's sovereignty.

North Korea

Similarly, North Korea celebrates its Liberation Day on August 15. The day is a significant national holiday marking the end of Japanese occupation.

Bahrain

August 15 is also significant for Bahrain, marking its independence from the United Kingdom in 1971. Although independence was earlier, Bahrain remained under British administration until 1971, when a friendship treaty was signed. The official observance is on August 15.

The Republic of the Congo celebrates its Congolese National Day on August 15, marking its 1960 independence from French colonial rule after 80 years, transitioning from a Marxist-Leninist state to a multi-party system.

Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein's National Day on August 15, observed since 1940, celebrates its 1866 independence from Germany. Festivities include a State Act at Vaduz Castle and a traditional fireworks display.
