Hurun India and EdelGive released the EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2021 of the most generous individuals in India who became top philanthropists by donating crores to causes ranging from education to climate change.

The 61-year-old Indian marquee investor has donated ₹50 crore in FY21 for the education sector in the country. He runs Rare Enterprises, which is a private equity investment and asset management firm based in Mumbai.

Promoters of Intas Pharmaceuticals Hasmukh Chudgar and family donated ₹29 crore for the cause of education in the country. Hasmukh Chudgar founded Gujarat-based Intas Pharmaceuticals in 1977 and now has handed over operations to his sons Nimish and Binish, who reportedly run a $2.2 billion (revenue) company.

The founders of investment platform Zerodha made a donation of ₹25 crore to the disaster relief sector in the country. Zerodha, a stock broking platform, was founded by both brothers in 2010 that also offers services to invest in mutual funds, commodities, bonds.

The 79-year-old founder of one of the largest pharmaceutical companies Sun Pharmaceuticals made a donation of ₹15 crore. Shanghvi is an Indian billionaire businessman and one of the country's richest people.

The 79-year-old actor who is considered to be one of the most influential actors in the history of Indian cinema has donated ₹15 crore to the disaster relief sector. The actor has been doing a lot of charitable work since the COVID-19 outbreak.

Radha Vembu who is an Indian billionaire businesswoman and a promoter of Indian software development company Zoho Corporation donated ₹12 crore. Another Zoho promoter Vembu Sekar donated ₹9 crore to disaster relief.

The 65-year old Mangal Prabhat who is a businessman and politician donated ₹9 crore to the healthcare sector. He is the founder of the Macrotech Developers or Lodha Group, a Mumbai-based real estate developer.
