Who has the most followers on Instagram? Soccer stars and the Kardashian-Jenner sisters reign supreme.
- Cristiano Ronaldo overtook Selena Gomez to become the most-followed Instagrammer in 2018.
- Another soccer star, Lionel Messi, trails Ronaldo in a somewhat distant second.
Ever since he overtook Selena Gomez to become the most-followed celebrity on Instagram in 2018, Cristiano Ronaldo has long reigned supreme on the Meta-owned photo and video app.
Technically, Instagram's own account marks the most-followed page, with 662 million followers — serving to highlight notable creators and moments on the platform. But the Portuguese soccer star remains the most-followed human — and by a longshot, according to analytics database Social Blade.
Ronaldo has 611 million followers, and the second most-followed creator trailing him is fellow footballer Lionel Messi, who hails from Argentina and currently counts 492 million fans — a sizable sum that is still roughly 100 million fewer than the top spot.
In third place, Gomez — the most-followed woman on the app — stands tall with 430 million followers. And after her is the reality star and beauty and fashion entrepreneur Kylie Jenner, who has 398 million followers. (Gomez gained further on Jenner in March, amid speculation that Jenner had surreptitiously mocked her, which led Gomez to gain more than 12 million followers in 10 days.)
The rest of the top ten, per Social Blade, comprises retired wrestler-turned-multi-hyphenate Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, two of the most beloved singers in the world — Ariana Grande and Beyoncé Knowles, and Kim and Khloé Kardashian.
