If you're not already, you should be paying attention to the Lucid Air, the first all-electric car from California-based automaker Lucid Motors. The upcoming Air not only made headlines last month by producing an estimated Tesla-smashing range record of 517 miles, but we also learned this week that it can do a quarter-mile in just 9.9 seconds.
In its highest spec, a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup with 1,080 horsepower, Lucid announced on Wednesday that the Air can achieve a quarter-mile time in 9.9 seconds. Lucid claims this makes the Air the world's quickest production sedan.

"To date, it is the only electric sedan able to achieve a quarter-mile time under 10 seconds," Lucid said.
A quarter-mile run in less than 10 seconds is extremely fast. The only other production cars with similar times are the Ferrari LaFerrari, the McLaren P1, the Porsche 918 Spyder, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, and the McLaren 720S, according to Fastestlaps.com. Those cars all use internal-combustion engines and most cost more than $1 million.
Put otherwise: Dominic Toretto from "The Fast and the Furious" would have happily accepted a stock Lucid Air as his 10-second car.
