- The 63-year old Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for the coronavirus while in Australia for his upcoming movie.
- After exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms, they decided to take a test as a precautionary measure.
- Both have now been quarantined and isolated until further notice.
“We felt a bit tired, we had colds, and some body aches. Rita [wife] had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too,” said Hanks in a statement explaining their symptoms. As a precautionary measure, they chose to go in for a test — and were found to be positive. They will now be quarantined and tested as per the public health and safety requirements.
The 63-year old was in Queensland city to film a movie on the life of Elvis Presley — set to play the role of Colonel Tom Parker, Presley’s manager who groomed the singer to stardom. The movie was supposed to start shooting with director Baz Luhrmann on Monday.
“The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world,” Warner Bros. Pictures, the studio behind the film, said in a statement.
