A traveler on TikTok has shared a life hack to avoid being stuck in an airport cab pickup line.

"Here is my airport secret," Lindsay Mukaddam said in a TikTok video that was posted in July. Mukaddam was seen standing outside an airport terminal in her video.

"Come to the departures level if the arrival level is completely slammed with cars because then the person who's picking you up can get up here with no issues, and they don't have to wait in line," she continued.

The travel content creator told Insider that "this tactic works about 90% of the time" for her.

"When I have had a hard time using it, it has usually been during a very busy travel period, like a holiday weekend," Mukaddam said.

And it seems that more people are picking up on the trick. Mukaddam told Insider that she has seen other people using the travel hack at airports.

"I definitely see other people using this tip and have even had Uber drivers ask if it is okay to drop me off at arrivals when the departure level is super crowded," Mukaddam said.

Mukaddam said she found out about the hack while passing through the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, and praised the airport for being thoughtful to travelers.

"I think airports that encourage this hack — like the Austin airport posting signs telling travelers to utilize both levels — make it easier on everyone trying to get to the airport," Mukaddam said.

"No one likes to start or end their vacation frustrated with long lines, so I applaud Austin for encouraging travelers to utilize all options to reach the airport," she continued.
