ADUs, like the ones L&D build, are likely to start popping up more after Denver relaxed regulations around how big they can be and where they can be built.

Here is one of the units that L&D installed in a Denver backyard. It cost about $370,000,said Sarah Senderhauf L&D Construction sales manager and broker.

The vertical siding gives it a "crisp, Scandinavian design," Senderhauf said.
The two-story unit spans 610 square feet and includes a living room, dining area, and kitchen on the first floor.

Nearby, this unit, which was also $370,000, contains a garage on the bottom floor, and a loft apartment on the top floor, Senderhauf told Insider.

In Denver, it is very common to build an ADU with a garage on the first floor and a living unit that the homeowner can rent out for extra income on the top, Senderhauf told Insider. The garage is 463 square feet.
The 356-square-foot living area on the second floor is filled with light from the many windows including several skylights.

The units do not come furnished, but the owner has decorated this living area with a gray L-shaped couch, dropleaf table, wood coffee table, and colorful accents like the chairs and throw pillows.
