Passengers onboard a Delta Air Lines flight to Atlanta were forced to evacuate after the aircraft's tires burst and caught fire whilst landing, according to various reports including Fox5 Atlanta and Sky News.

The aircraft which departed from Richmond International Airport in Virginia was landing at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Wednesday at 6 p.m., the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed to Insider. The flight blew its left main gear tires.

Passengers were able to exit the aircraft using emergency inflatable slides, per the FAA. There was no disruption to air traffic, it added.

Video footage shared by Fox5 shows the plane surrounded by emergency vehicles and being sprayed with water. At least one person was injured but details of their condition is unknown, according to Fox5.

The plane landed safely around 6:20 p.m. and was carrying a total of 190 passengers,

Social media footage published by Sky News showed that the plane tires were on fire while it was being sprayed with water.

The FAA said it will be investigating the incident.

Delta Air Lines did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment about the incident.
