The TikTok account of one of the app's biggest stars disappeared overnight — and nobody is sure why

TikTok star and Hype House collective member Avani Gregg has mysteriously lost her account on the app and isn't sure why. A representative for Gregg told Insider that the influencer first noticed the issue late last night.
The account, which previously had more than 17 million followers, remains unsearchable as of Wednesday afternoon.
Gregg spoke about the situation in a post on her second TikTok account, @lilpapiclowngirl, which has 1.6 million followers. "I don't know what's happening with my main account," she said in the video, which was posted early on Wednesday morning. "I honestly don't know what I did wrong."
She also appeared to reference the problem on her Twitter, writing, "why always me."
A representative for Gregg told Insider that she was not sure what happened and hoped TikTok would correct the error "ASAP."
Gregg, 17, isn't a dancer like Charli D'Amelio or Addison Rae Easterling, but is a makeup and beauty expert. She's sometimes called the "clown girl" because in her first viral TikTok, she transformed herself into a clown with makeup. "That got me started with views," Gregg said of the "clown check" video in an interview with HollyWire.
US TikTok users have faced similar problems in the past. When the app removed any accounts of users under age 13 in February 2019, in the wake of a lawsuit with the Federal Trade Commission, other users reported having their accounts wrongfully deleted.
