Car search engine and automotive research firm iSeeCars.com has created a list of the 20 longest-lasting SUVs most likely to reach over 200,000 miles.
Half of the list is comprised of SUVs made by Japanese automakers, including vehicles from Toyota, Honda, Acura, and Nissan. Of the 20 cars, Toyota makes a five-times appearance.
According to the study, about 15.7% of Toyota Land Cruisers in the study made it past 200,000 miles, placing it at the top of the compilation. To compare, an average of 0.9% SUVs during that period logged over 200,000 miles.
The search engine used data from over 15.8 million cars sold in 2019 that were previously owned for the study that also included trucks, sedans, and electric vehicles, to name a few segments. iSeeCars then determined the percentage of cars that had logged at least 200,000 miles. Vehicles that didn't have a 2020 model year production, or are considered heavy-duty or low-volume, were not included in the final list.

"With roots dating back to 1950, the iconic and indestructible Toyota Land Cruiser is designed to last at least 25 years, and it is relied upon in many developing countries where off-road driving is the norm," Ly said.
2. Toyota Sequoia — 9.2% reached 200,000 miles
Ly said the family-friendly Sequoia has truck-like durability. This allows it to last long enough to reach the high mile count.
3. Ford Expedition — 5.2% reached 200,000 miles
4. Chevrolet Suburban — 4.9% reached 200,000 miles
"All manufactured by General Motors, the Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, and Chevrolet Tahoe are built on the same platform and share many parts, which could explain why these popular family vehicles are all likely to last 200,000 miles," Ly said.
5. Toyota Highlander Hybrid — 4.2% reached 200,000 miles
Ly called the Highlander Hybrid a good alternative to the "traditional gas-guzzling family [vehicle]" because of its three-row seating and buyer's motivation to keep the car for longer in order to make up for its higher cost.
6. Chevrolet Tahoe — 4.1% reached 200,000 miles
7. GMC Yukon XL — 4.1% reached 200,000 miles
8. Toyota 4Runner — 3.9% reached 200,000 miles
"The Toyota 4Runner is ... built like a truck and provides ample cargo room and an optional third row for those who want a rugged family hauler, but don't require a behemoth full-size SUV," Ly said.
9. GMC Yukon — 3.2% reached 200,000 miles
10. Lincoln Navigator — 2.6% reached 200,000 miles
11. Honda Pilot — 2.4% reached 200,000 miles
Like the Acura MDX, the Honda Pilot is also known for its safety and consistency, according to Ly.
12. Cadillac Escalade — 1.6% reached 200,000 miles
The non-ESV version of the Escalade is more likely to reach 200,000 miles.
13. Acura MDX — 1.6% reached 200,000 miles
Ly said the MDX is known for its safety, reliability, and family friendly features, such as the three row seating.
14. Cadillac Escalade ESV — 1.5% reached 200,000 miles
There are two Cadillac Escalades on the list.
15. Toyota Highlander — 1.3% reached 200,000 miles
"The Toyota Highlander joins its hybrid version on the list and is known for its reliability and performance," iSeeCars CEO Phong Ly said.
"It is also among the leaders in its class for passenger and cargo room, which makes it a popular choice as a family vehicle that is backed by Toyota's solid reputation for reliability and longevity."
16. Dodge Durango — 1.3% reached 200,000 miles
17. Honda CR-V — 1.1% reached 200,000 miles
18. Nissan Armada — 1.1% reached 200,000 miles
19. Hyundai Santa Fe — 0.9% reached 200,000 miles
