Tesla's Model X and S are now equipped with video game hardware that has almost as much processing power as a PlayStation 5
- Tesla's new in-car gaming console power rivals that of Xbox and Playstation.
- Video games can be played from anywhere in the Tesla Model S and X.
- Both models are getting significant refreshes, the company announced Thursday.
Tesla's upgraded Model X and S cars come with a new high-powered feature: a video gaming system that has the capability of a new generation console.
The new gaming system has "up to 10 teraflops of power," according to the Tesla website, though no other details of the system are available. For comparison, the Xbox Series X has 12 teraflops, and Sony's PlayStation 5 has 10.3 teraflops.
Tesla announced during its fourth-quarter earnings Wednesday that the updated Model S and X cars would arrive later this year. Among the changes to the models are a new powertrain, exterior updates, and an entirely new interior.
The interior features a 17" cinematic display in the front with "2200x1300 resolution, ultra bright, true colors, exceptional responsiveness and left-right tilt." Passengers can game from any seat with the help of wireless controller compatibility and a backseat display.

"Want to play The Witcher game on your Tesla? (you can already watch the show on Tesla Netflix theater)" Tesla chief executive Elon Musk tweeted on Jan 22.
Previous models of the in-car gaming system ran "less demanding games such as Cuphead and Cat Quest," according to IGN Entertainment. The upgraded models show the system has the ability to run "The Witcher 3" game, which "suggests a significant step up for the car's gaming potential," IGN said, adding that it's an impressive game by "car standards."
After Sony's PlayStation 5 launched in November, recording the highest sales revenue and purchases in history, the new model became the standard for for next-gen gaming. But it's hard to compare Tesla's upgraded gaming system to the new standard, IGN said, as few specific details are available on the console.
